And now for something completely different... Isles Game Preview and Open Thread

You know with all the focus on strippers and hot hockey wives and hot chicks with tenuous relationships to hockey and Danica McKellar, we never have the chance to post random hot chicks from elsewhere in the world of sports. In an effort to shake things up to see if the Habs can actually win a game, today all that changes. The lovely ladies pictured above are Bia and Branca Feres, Brazilian synchronized swimmers. And twins. 'Nuff said.

And on with the preview! We're doing the freeform rambling paragraphs today, again, in an effort to shake things up. Habs welcome the Isles to the Bell Centre tonight at 7:30 PM. Habs are a sparkling 3-4-2 since the 8-1-1 start. Isles have actually won 4 of their last 5 games. Really? Uh oh. Habs won the one meeting so far this year, 5-4. Check out The Drive for Five for all your Isles blogging needs.

TFS (tm) has some hotness for the Habs. Greek Lightning seems to be doing well on whatever line he plays on. And Gang Bang Lang has had his moments lately. On the other side of the ledger, Pleks has zero points in seven games. Ick. Higgy has no points in his last 6, and Markov seems to have cooled off offensively. Kovy may be a zombie. Let's face it, when you've scored 9 goals over the span of 6 games, you're not getting alot of hot players. Habs have climbed all the way to number 23 in the PP rankings! Damn, we were so close to last I could taste it.

For the Isles, Doug Weight is relatively hot and the Isles' leading scorer. Also hot and second in Isles scoring is a certain Swiss Mister. They've been riding the hot goalie play of Joey "Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo" MacDonald (who?), 4-1-0, 2.17, .936 in his last 5 games. He's scheduled to go tonight. Not too many cool players over there, but plenty of injured ones. DiPietro, Comrie, Okposo, Sillinger and others all injured (though technically Sillinger is healed, he's on the farm rehabbing).

The line-up for the Habs is anyone's guess. Rumour has Carbo putting Koivu, Tangy and Higgy back together. DOOM, as we know, is out 4-5 weeks and Gui! is day to day, and may play, but most likely not. TFS gets the start.

Here is the paragraph where I make many witicisms in talking about how much the Habs suck. As this is the preview that is completely different, here's my witticism - Habs suck. Seriously, though, I thought I saw a few signs of improvement Saturday night. But not too many. There seems to be a few too many players out there floating around like pot smoke when you hotbox a bathroom. OK, maybe one witticism.

For your post-game entertainment, you need to check out the last episode of Prison Break until February. Last week's ep ended with what looks to be an awesome Mexican stand-off (is that racist btw?). Should be epic.

Try something different in the comments. How about making observations?

Twin Brazilian synchronized swimmers. You just know they do everything together.

Can someone explain this to me? I get how hot twins in a sexually suggestive pose is cool. On the surface, all is well.

However; I feel like I'm the only one who looks at this and thinks: "Incest.. Eww."

Am I crazy? Isn't it better to have unrelated women who happen to look like each other?

moeman said...

After observing the game day pic, I'd like to say that I'd like to freeform ramble with those two nice gals.

Oh and um also, (sorry my mind is still rambling whilst something was free forming in my pants) the Habs will win big tonight. They're due to explode. Enough of this freeform rambling on the ice and score a lot of goals already.

HabsFan29 said...

@fezworth - i see what you're saying. what i like to do is imagine myself between the two of them, seperating any incest-y type activities. problem solved!

d. said...

I feel a holding the stick penalty coming on...

fezworth said...

@HF29: That seems like a level-headed and reasonable solution to a rather thorny problem. Cheers to you sir, and your twins. And their twins.

@moeman: I can only *hope* that the habs are as embarassed about their recent play as we are. I want to see a solid win tonight, but I'm skeptical. It feels like the bad old days again, where you're never sure what to expect.

moeman said...

A lousy effort and/or loss will mean two things;

1. A visit from Babs.

2. Babs making some calls on Tuesday (hopefully not to sundin's agent).

Much as I want the Habs to do well tonight, I'm perversely wishing that they kind of suck, yet again.

See, neither Mr. LG77 nor I will be at the game tonight... so if they don't suck, does that mean it's our fault that they do?? (I kid, I kid... but the former superstitious nutbag goalie in me is kind of intrigued by this logic)

HabsFan29 said...

@LG77 - there is no question that if the Habs do well tonight the previous sucking will be your fault. you will be forced to sell your tickets at a deep discount, preferably to local bloggers

Habsfan10 said...

Twins! The really, really good kind, not the ones in Minnesota or starring The Guvernator and Danny Devito.

There's got to be a Brazilian twins with twim Brazilians joke in here somewhere ...

@LG: I don't think you need to qualify goalie with "superstitious nutbag". We all know you masked marvels are kooks.

Phoff said...

Before I read the intro, I thought those were the Sedin twins.

Whale4ever said...

Hot.

lawyergirl77 said...

29 - Perhaps instead I should just invite said bloggers to attend a game with me. After all, I haven't gone to a game without Mr. LG77 yet, but he has gone to plenty without me. Perhaps HE'S the jinx!!!

Topic? Those twins are ridonculously hot, but incest is kind of skeevy.

moeman said...

My God, is it me or is lg77 ridonculously hot? Beauty, ex-goalie, brains, snarkalicious, hockey knowledge, Habs fans extraordinaire and an all-around fun gal (ain't it neat how one can so precisely describe a fellow blog commentator?)

Double the meth hit if Breezer scores on TFS™.

moeman said...

Decent period, expected more.

We were outshot?

HabsFan29 said...

+2 for Breezermeth jokes

HabsFan29 said...

apparently ive traveled to the future where we've played two periods

moeman said...

Did the 2nd period breeze by hf29?

HabsFan29 said...

Habs scored two goals. How was I supposed to know that could happen in only one period of hockey?

lostinleafland said...

HF29,,does time go faster while on meth?
Isles out-shot us 12-7, but TFS is looking up to the challenge.
Think we can keep the shots below 45 tonight?..

fezworth said...

I've missed the first two periods. I bet they completely blow it in the 3rd. I ALWAYS miss the good hockey.

HabsFan29 said...

i'll thank you all to be kinder towards my meth habit - it's a medical condition

hey look, the fourth period is starting!

Laps scores, brunet will now do a some meth.

Lostinleafland said...

Begin, Gorges and Max...I'm telling you, with these guys scoring, Higgins will be on the 4th line by January.

HabsFan29 said...

i cannot remember when we had 3 goals in a game

moeman said...

I agree with hf29, 3 goals in 4 periods has been rare.

HabsFan29 said...

bouncy bouncy

HabsFan29 said...

well, through 6 periods so far, i think at least we have more energy than we've had in a while

HabsFan29 said...

booing the PP is some booing i can get behind

I've decided El Dandy is the key to this team

HabsFan29 said...

WORST. GAFFE. EVER.

Matt D said...

Oh man, he's fucked now

kevincrumbs said...

Holy fucking shit. God damn this team.

HabsFan29 said...

poor kids gonna be scarred for a while

moeman said...

Off to the 13th period.

kevincrumbs said...

Maybe that whole thing where I work too much to usually catch the Habs on TV is actually a good thing for me.

Is Rhino down to his last strike what with this and the purse grabbing?

HabsFan29 said...

oh a shootout. theres a surprise

moeman said...

Put O'byrne in da net.

wrap around curl said...

I have the Islanders feed for the game. The announcers implied Carey is a fattie.

HabsFan29 said...

A loss for the ages

wrap around curl said...

Also, I think the crowd just made O'Byrne go slit his wrists.

kevincrumbs said...

UGH. What I hate about sports compared to any other product in this capitalist system is that if the Canadiens tonight were, say, a shitty restaurant experience, I would choose to never go back to that restaurant. Sadly, I'm sticking with this damn team for the rest of the year, rest of the decade and the rest of my life.

Yes, I know it's only November and it's a game against the Isles but I feel sick (but nowhere near what Rhino must be feeling). This team sucks right now and deserves every single "BOO" they're getting these days.

moeman said...

Off to listen to some Boomtown Rats.

Matt D said...

Seriously, I think O'B is done in Montreal. No way he bounces back from this. He is, of course, going to go on to win several Cups with Philly or something.

Fuck.

matt - Gainey should fear the collapse said...

Well. Gainey, you can make some changes now. It just feels like a shake up is needed right away. The team is in a funk that they can't get out of...

Holy fuck, what a terrible play by O'Byrne.

Anonymous said...

Geez, the poor kid. He must have wanted so badly to crawl under the bench and hide.

Is he going to have to enter the mistake-prone hockey players protection plan now and hide from the Montreal fans in Omaha, Nebraska or something?

Or will Montreal just trade him?

Scott in Montreal said...

Heh, I wonder if Laraque wasn't waiting for O'Byrne in the room...

les_glorieux said...

Anyone have the number for suicide watch?

ron said...

Wow, some of you guys worry too much. For a large portion of that game, we were very clearly the better team, only poor luck did us in. I thought, for stretches, we were almost looking (sounding, radio) like the offensively dominating team we could be. Mind, its not there yet (after all, we *were* only up by one), but this loss (unlike, say, a previous boston or toronto game) wasn't without its positive points.

Scott in Montreal said...

Seriously, Dandenault back on D please... O'Byrne ought to go to Hamilton and we can bring Chips up.

HabsFan29 said...

god love the interwebs. it's on Youtube already

Scott in Montreal said...

O'Byrne is 6'6". How much taller do you suppose he'd be if he had a brain too?

orangeman said...

Are you fucking kidding me? Are you fucking...kidding me? Good teams find ways to win. Apparently, bad teams find ways to lose.

Well, hey, there were some positives from this game. From this game they lost to one of the worst teams in the league. Yeah, there were some positives. Like, they didn't get blown out like they did in Toronto (another bad team) or they didn't steal two points like against StL and Ottawa (another 2 bad teams).

I'm glad I've been too busy to watch this shit (thanks youtube for letting me see the retardedness so soon). Was going to watch the Wings game on delay later this week, but fuck it.

I had to give 2 huge important presentations today to the big guys at head office. You know what would have happened if I shat my pants while up there? I'd be headed to worse places than Hamiltion (yes, they exist. I live in Asia).

Are you fucking kidding me?

fezworth said...

@HF29: I troll reddit a lot. It just made the front page.

I feel sick.

orangeman said...

3 minutes later...

alright I just watched the video with O'Byrne's reaction and I feel bad for wishing him so much pain. I guess we've all sort of been there. I work with children, some of them disabled, so I'd also like to apologize for my inappropriate use of the word 'retarded'. I would never want any of these amazing kids associated with such a boneheaded play. They're much smarter than that.

Still, though. GAHAHAAHAAAAAAA!

orangeman said...

Also, remember when I said the Habs would pay for that disallowed goal vs Ottawa? I'd like to enter into evidence said youtube video.

ron said...

If only the belief that 'good times find ways to win' was more prevalent during the games we (arguably) did not deserve to win against the Sens or the Blues a week or two ago.

The team, on the whole, has found ways to win (case in point: 11-5-3 despite playing horribly on a mostly consistent), but were just not fortunate enough to add another W in this match. Not that we were playing horribly, of course, if you watched (or heard) the game, it was a very good outing.

Number31 said...

This disallowed goal was worse than the one in Ottawa because the puck wasn't even in a crowd and Andrei picked it off right away to carrying it around the net. I'm actually more pissed off about it than Rhino's error.

No really, he needed to be in Hamilton LAST month. They're just KILLING him by leaving him here to go through the book of errors. The Habs were the better team tonight. And Chris Lee needs to be banned or something.

Thinking positive: Gorges, my love, scores his 2nd NHL goal ever.
