I have a feeling it probably comes out of football leagues, where goal differential is the most important thing. Of course, in FIFA, the goal difference usually isn't more than -3/+3. Personally, I don't think that it translates well to hockey.

Having said that; respect is such a funny word, that seems to mean different things to different people. I've been on the wrong end of a score like that before, and it pissed me off. Personally, I'd rather you played me as hard as you can, all the time, instead of taking it easy on me. If I lose 15-0, I know where I stand. But if you stop playing at 6-0, and just let me skate around, then what's the point? I think that's far less respectful.fezworthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16366455699514693633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7320624876513568183.post-48042339772804041512008-12-29T12:11:00.000-05:002008-12-29T12:11:00.000-05:00The Sens...how the mighty have fallen, how about t...The Sens...how the mighty have fallen, how about trading zombie pleks for Spezza?Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13735279658733440946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7320624876513568183.post-19456128442792696042008-12-29T12:04:00.000-05:002008-12-29T12:04:00.000-05:00It's just the fact that they have a rule that says...It's just the fact that they have a rule that says, "score as many as you can" annoys me. And I guess i agree with fezworth, they shouldn't celebrate after scoring half a dozen goals. And the players shouldn't pointed out that they didn't break a sweat. Some of the players were respectful saying that the kazakhs worked really hard and gave it their best, but Pickard said that the most difficult shots he faced were the dump ins, thats disrespectful.mr. gillishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04408353358872888532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7320624876513568183.post-17349353349497666852008-12-29T11:51:00.000-05:002008-12-29T11:51:00.000-05:00Correct. So the coaches tell the players to keep going, and score as many as possible, but not to celebrate after 9 or 10. The players don't feel great about it, but what can you do? Someone else might beat them by 16.

I think Bob Mckenzie has a point in saying that the really disrespectful thing is to have the two extra teams at the tournament. When Germany can beat your team 9-0, you don't belong there.fezworthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16366455699514693633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7320624876513568183.post-76198948749327689422008-12-29T11:32:00.000-05:002008-12-29T11:32:00.000-05:00I don't know, I'd think NOT running up the score w...I don't know, I'd think NOT running up the score would be more disrespectful.
