Welcome Giant Defenceman!

Hal Gill, 2 years, $2.25M per. Now TFS (tm) won't be taller than all of his defencemen.

So it's looking like this for next year:

Markov-Gill
Hamr-Jaro 2.0
Weber/Rhino-Georges

Buh-bye Breezer. Rejoice!

  1. $13 million in cap space left. One of Koivu, Tangy or Kovy has to be gone now.

as much as everyone is going to cry about this signing, he compares pretty well to Komisarek statistically and he was good enough to play on the Stanley Cup champions. Seems like Babs is saving himself for a big signing.

  3. Ok so a 5 year deal worth 10M for Koivu, 2M cap hit.
Then 4,5M for 6 years for Tanguay.
That makes 6,5M, which leaves 6,5M - throw that at Havlat, for 2-3 years, and we'd be good to go.

You'd have a first line of Havlat-Gomez-Tanguay... not too shabby.

  4. Last post is, obviously, wishful thinking on my part - not even rumor worthy

  5. According to cap central at Eklund's site (I know, I know) the Habs have $18 plus left, not including Patches and Weber who would add about $1.7M. So if the 2-year 9M for Kovy is true, that leaves Bob about $12M for a top 6 centre and winger. Realistically the winger could be Tanguay and we could still trade for a big centre.

I'm starting to feel a bit better about Bob's strategy.

  9. @Fear of small centres: Remember Detroit? Not exactly the biggest down the middle, and, uh, they're not bad. I would rather someone who can score over someone who's just big.

  10. LOL that's becoming hilarious. Wouldn't it be great if we iced a first line of Cammaleri, Gomez and Tanguay?

  12. So no comment by anyone?
We just signed a 5'9 'gritty' Canadian boy, who scored 39 goals last year... I think it's great.

  15. Things seem to be coalescing towards a rumour that Komi's got a big offer from the Leafs. I am going to kill myself.

  17. Holy fucking Hell I can't believe it. I feel like committing a murder. This guy spent years spewing this shit out of his mouth about how he liked it here and that the Habs were a premier organization and he FUCKING DEFECTS to the Leafs?
And we fucking thought about him as 'C' material? Fucking shit-filled douchebag.

  18. Komi is an idiot. He is playing for a hopeless team, and he'll still face the Looch 8 times a year.

But I don't see why we couldn't have paid Komi the 4.5M?
