- Pens chase Ryan Miller, but this inspires the Sabres somehow who come back from a 3-0 hole to win 4-3;
- Isles win, refuse to go away from the 8th seed bubble;
- Taylor Hall finally comes alive at the World Juniors with a hat trick, and Canada continues its prelim round domination with an 8-2 win over Slovakia;
- I don't know what's worse - the fact that today's noontime Canadian Olympic team announcement is so hyped that's a big live event on all the sports networks, or the fact that we considered calling this TMS an open thread for said announcement. What the hell, consider this your open thread for the announcement.

The Game Day Skate for Wednesday, December 30th
Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of coming up with some clever TMS opening like "Good Morning Habs Fan!" (thx for the sub work Panger)...

I was over at canadiens.com and there on the front page was a video "Who's your favourite Randy?"
ReplyDeleteI thought "not much going on with the habs" and "gay."
But I watched the video to see which Habs would choose Randy "MACHO MAN" Savage, Randy Travis or Randy Jackson.
Not surprisingly, the Macho Man got most votes. Couple of funny bits:
Markov: "Thees ees furst time I hear of these guys."
Gill has a classic bit at the end. Give it a watch.
So the Habs have won both FLA games the past two seasons. Lapierre was the hero for both last year with a hatrick in the first game and the shootout winner (I think that's where we witnessed his change of speed move) in the other.
Lets hope these games break him out of his zombie state.
edit: hat trick or hat-trick
ReplyDeleteShould CoaCH Martin need to pull Pouliot off the GMC line does it means he will Choke the CHicken?
ReplyDeleteWV = gluct
Moeman - + however-many-ounces-are-in-the-large-Timmie's-coffee-I-just-spilled-on-my-keyboard for the choking the chicken joke!!
ReplyDelete@Moe
ReplyDeleteSombrero and mustache are saved and ready to paste onto anything. All secure at my end. I will not Photoshop him choking the chicken, however. That's where I draw the line.
Hamrlik didn't make the Czech roster...hmmm....
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm 'hmm-ing' because I'm wondering if he declined to join the team. Because he should be on the team (Hamrlik that is)
ReplyDeleteso TFS gets the start tonight i wonder if he is going to steal the starting position back from jaro my sources say maybe
ReplyDeleteSpoke with a friend in Hamilton who said the Bull Dogs will be moving to Laval next year.
ReplyDeleteYa heard it here first!
@lg77 ... 14 oz. I happen to (un)fortunately live here about 10 hours a day..
ReplyDelete@gg11... already set the GMC as my background lol
i thought that line looked pretty good the other night.
@lehab
ReplyDeleteAs BubbyGG used to say "you made my day".
Only one we're waiting for is Giant Mexican Turtle.
1/2 hour preview show of the team announcement. god bless you, TSN
ReplyDelete1/2 hour of mcsplooge. fuck you, TSN
ReplyDeleteI'll be very disappointed if I don't get the call for Olympic ice girl, Stevie Y.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to let Hamr have a 2 week rest. Even though he's been off due to injury, those minutes he and Spacek logged the first 35 games or so is bound to take a lot out of 35 year old legs.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Stevie Y drops at least one bomb today that none of the talking heads predicted. Even if only the 3rd string goalie. Ya know, Carey Price has the 3rd best Save% among Canadian goalies (well 4th, but Roloson is what? 80 years old?). Carey's home province. Just sayin. Brodeur and Luongo only rank 12th in ghe league in Save%. Hmm.
PS. I know it won't happen.
wow, even Brian Williams. this is big time!
ReplyDeleteJames Duthie. Less big-time.
this TSN-Sportsnet crossover is freaking me out
ReplyDeleteFor those of you lost in the Olympics hype... Price is starting in nets tonight. Wow. So surprised. /sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteStevie Y. gets the Gold medal for rugged good looks.
ReplyDelete3 Quebec goalies. BR just mcsplooged
ReplyDeleteheh @ moe
Is the CH's Centennial marketing crew managing today's event? She's gonna be a long one (I know, gotta pay those sponsors).
ReplyDeleteFuck this is an hour??? I would love a good old fashioned faxed press release right about now
ReplyDeleteNiedermayer captain. I can live with that, though I would have preferred Iggy.
ReplyDeleteThe 'A' on Pronger is an embarrassment, otherwise I like the choices.
ReplyDeletegonna be some arguments about this D (no Green or JBo) but i like it
ReplyDeleteVERY surprised that Green isn't there.
ReplyDeleteDoes the non-selection of the overrated Phaneuf mean we will not see much of this fine Canadian?
ReplyDeleteGood mix. Love the Toews selection.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck? Heater and Bergeron.
ReplyDeleteGO FINLAND.
Heater's played his way on. Bergeron, i'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteI can live with all of it. Changing of the guard somewhat, but that's ok
I can live with it, primarily because St-Louis and Lecavalier didn't get an automatic pass onto the team.
ReplyDeleteBut Heater's inclusion bugs.
heh@lg77
ReplyDeleteAlso, methinks Bergeron is an OK pick. He's a Yzerman-type player, responsible, forechecks well and a top notch point getter. Bonus, the pick'll keep bertrand and réjean warm in their pure woolies (despite the fact they allegedly hate Canada).
Someone must've told Bobby Lu that the team pics were real mug shots.
ReplyDeleteWV = nupep, as in Stevie Y. has given Team Canada some nupep
Imagine how much fun we'd have with a Habs CoaCH named Babcock.
ReplyDeleteIs it still relentlessly homerriffic of me to think that Squid should have had a shot to have made it onto the team?
ReplyDeleteYes?
oh. Okay. Carry on...
LG it is, but FWIW I thought it too.
ReplyDeleteI think they got their Staals confused but it happens with those clones.
ReplyDeleteIn other (non-hockey related) news, harper prorogues Parliament.
ReplyDeleteSo, are the Lightning so pissed that they kill the Habs tonight, or so depressed that they only win in OT?
ReplyDelete@moeman: I can't stand Harper. He's my Gary Bettman of Canadian politics. But mmmm, prorogies...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletelets leave the politics out of a hockey forum all that matters here is silly nicknames and canadien victories
ReplyDelete@canucklehead - Point taken and comment deleted.
ReplyDeleteno, i say MORE politics! sports blog style! Fuck Michael Ignatieff! Cock!
ReplyDeleteSorry lg but I just had to mention how harpo sickingly and sheepishly slipped a smelly sausage to the GG (Canada's not FHF's). Sadly we will see his ugly mug representing our country at VAN2010.
ReplyDelete/end rant
ReplyDeleteeveryone can go talk hockey in the new thread. moeman and I will stay in here to debate the finer points of parliamentary democracy
ReplyDeleteWhen you make a list of those finer points, perhaps we can send them to our government so that they can see that we're NOT a Republic like our neighbours to the South.
ReplyDeleteCrap.
I forgot.
The good people at the PMO can't read. Silly me.
Players I don't care for:
ReplyDeleteCrosby (still has to have Mrs Lemieux pour his rice krispies into a bowl every morning).
Iginla (bit of a thug)
Pronger (neanderthal)
Heatley (prick, crybaby)
Thornton (choker)
Bergeron (Bruin - I admit this is petty)
Brodeur (this is controversial - but all those records are the result of having a trapping team in front of him)
I might cheer for Sweden or Russia.
harper is the pronger of politics.
ReplyDelete@boob,
ReplyDeleteSuit yourself. I'd take any one of those thugs, crybabies etc. on our Habs in a heartbeat.
I just wish they selected Green instead of Pronger, St. Louis instead of Bergeron and Mike Fisher somewhere in there. Might not be top-notch talent but grit is needed
