Goodbye, Mr. CHips

I am loathe to bump down HF10's brilliant rant about last night's game and the state of this team (so scroll down to read it if you haven't yet), but I feel we really need a post to announce the CHipchura trade, even though I'm sure you all know about already. He's off to join Saku for a 4th round pick. He's been Panger's boy, all of our boy, and the potential future captain of this team for so long, I just felt we really needed to give him a proper send-off.

So goodbye Kyle. You failed to live up to all of our expectations. The end.

  1. That last line choked me up a bit.

  2. I kept waiting for him to become the next Gainey or Carbonneau. Hell, I'd have even settled for the future replacement for Metro. Alas, the few glimpses of NHL talent we saw were spread out between awful giveaways and weak play in his own zone.

    Enjoy the sunshine, Chips.

  3. I hate it when we lose the good looking ones.

  4. heh @GG11.

Also, our boy, now gone, had it all, including not one but two 'CH' in his name. Had he been a CHez nous boy, the media yippers would've yipped that he never got a CHance. Bonne CHance CHip.

  5. Combination of bad luck (esp. torn Achilles Tendon in Junior) and just not getting the job done whenever he got a shot.

Better luck in Duckville, CHips. Tell my boy Saku I miss him.

  6. Am i the only one who thinks that a fourth round draft pick is not a lot compared to chipchura?

  7. @gillis, it is better than a bag of chips.

Whilst here, does that photoCHopped pic suggest our gal GG is back and ready for first line duty?!

Back and ready to go. Habs didn't exactly give me the welcome back I had hoped for, though. Maybe the woman in the pic was too bitchy.

  9. Great news GG, hope our Habs play bitCHy in da Buff tomorrow.

I send them a message through telepathy. It raining in Buffahole so I can't be sure that Kirk will hear me.

  11. @GG, Kirk, because he's good looking CHer or because he's a good listener (like most husbands).

  12. @gillis: It was most likely lose him on waivers or get at least something for him.

I never cared for him but since I'm not Canadian, I could care less that he captained and starred for the Canadian WJC team.

Well he always has that ear piece in his ear so he must be a good listener.

  15. @Moe - speaking for myself... because he's fuckin' hot and I've had a crush on him for almost 20 years now.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that GG shares my sentiments in that regard...

And also because he's a super nice guy who not only remembers the faces of the fans he meets, but also the stories they tell him. Case in point: asked my stepdad 5 years after they met at Gretzky's fantasy hockey camp how his father-in-law (a.k.a my awesome grandpa) was. Long story but he spoke to my grandpa on the phone for 20 minutes on his birthday one year. He STILL talks about it.

  16. Fuck.

Guimauve apparently just scored a really pretty goal.

I can hear Benoit rehearsing his lines for tomorrow right now... shit.

I never really noticed. I'll be sure to crawl into bed with my #11 sweater tonight and take a better look at my Canadiens magazines with KM on the cover that I saved from 1991-1993.

  18. what are the chances of us getting a 4th round draft pick in exchange of that useless fuck Gomez?

    ReplyDelete
  19. @lg77, I'm safe enough in my masculinity to say I agree that Kirk is teh hot and I think he's a classy, soft-spoken (guys, da gals love it when you speak softly/whisper, turns em on) Habs man.

@GG11, nothing better than in-the-mattress-stuffed Habs mags with fave pics to send us off into the arms of Morpheus.

  20. LG & GG,

Kirky's hot? Hmmm, I'll have to revisit that one and get back to ya'll. I wanted to marry Ron Duguay, he still has great hair.

  21. LaT's goal wasn't all that. He slipped it into an empty net after his linemate did all the work.

He did go to the net however.

  22. So long Chipper :( May you one day come back and permanently captain the Bulldogs if things don't pan out in Duckland.

Guimauve's goal was not pretty. It was a fucking joke. The goalie was flat out on the side, the defence was lost in space, all Gui did was take a puck skate slowly over to the side and pop it (again) in a wide open net. I'm guessing Brunet will still foam over it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh oh.

Gui apparently assisted on the game winner in OT.

    We suck don't we?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Kids freaking out at my house 3 points in 3 games. Maybe it's the Christmas colors that have him so excited.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Fuck Guimauve.

Whatever. He`ll have his little splash of ugly goals and then go back to his old unproductive ways!

  26. Using a hot start as an indicator as how a player or coach will perform in the long term is just stupid.

See Tremblay, Mario. Or Savage, Brian.
