Hockey's back, baybeeee!!! B's preview and open thread for shut-ins who have lost the remote

Our long national hockeyless nightmare of a summer is over. At 7:30 PM tonight, live from the Bell Centre and broadcast on RDS, Le Tricolore are on the ice for an actual hockey game. Sort of. It's exhibition for fuck's sake. We're excited, but we're not really excited. We want to watch, but we don't want to watch. Will you watch? Should you watch? Let's break it down to help you decide.

Why You Should Watch: Hockey, fuck yeah!!!
Why You Should Not Watch: Pre-season hockey is usually as exciting as watching a 2-hour Americal Idol results show.

WYSW: Louis Leblanc! Louis Leblanc! Louis Leblanc!!!
WYSNW: RDS announcers spending 3 hours McSplooging over Louis Leblanc! Louis Leblanc! Louis Leblanc!!!

WYSW: To see how Montreal reacts to the beginning of the official Carey Price era (p.s. Jaro let in 3 goals on 18 shots last night for a .833 save %. Suck it, TFS haters).
WYSNW: You will feel sick when the crowd turns on him after letting in his first goal.

WYSW: Aaron Palushaj. By all accounts, he's been great so far and Squid is excited to play with him.
WYSNW: There's no chance he'll be in the lineup on opening day so who gives a fuck.

WYSW: It's the Bs for fuck sake! Any chance for hating is good. Cornelius, wherefore art thou?
WYSNW: Without Chara in the lineup, the hate just won't feel the same.

WYSW: What the hell else you gonna do?
WYSNW: Uh, anything?

See you in the comments. Or not.

    G Y F H ! Pantalons!!!

  2. No Chara No Cry!

We could always get Tyler Seguin used to playing for the Bs by booooooooing him every time he touches the puck instead. Feel the love, kid! Welcome to the NHL.

If not, Horton Hears A Boo.

  3. Every year I'm desperate to watch the first televised preseason game. But then again every year I think this year's All Star game will be fun.

  4. only think I can think of is HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY!
I'm so desperate I'll watch an exhibition game - gets you reved up for Oct. 7

(exhibition laffs lost 5-0 to Sens; made my day after TSN went on about how trucculent leafs practise had been - like a mean edge is goign to help them)

  8. @GG11

One of my colleagues came up behind me while I was on the computer and saw this morning's masterpeice. She was not impressed.

Great Job, GG11!!! You are the best! :o)

  9. Canadiens....FUCK YEAH!

I don't give a sweet, merciful shit (aka a Phaneuf) if it's preseason. It's hockey. I will watch. With no pants. And a semi. (Hey, it's only preseason...I save full wood for the regular season.)

    GYFHG!

  10. @LJ - thx, fixed. i gotta stop drinking at 7 AM

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Soperman
Not sure I'd be impressed either if I was a co-worker. I seem to have an out of body thing happening on this site. GG11 can post pics like that but JG, not so much. That said, enjoy!

You should not use your initials, we are told never to type your name! :o)

  13. Steve said : Leafs are gonna win tommoro

Quote from the TO STAR about Losers PP

Instead, the forward unit receiving the bulk of extra man time up front was the trio of Kris Versteeg, Nazem Kadri and Colby Armstrong. They got nothing done as the plan seemed to be, get the puck to Phaneuf at the point and see if he wound a Senator.

  14. Louis Leblanc isn't getting enough ice time !!!

.... oh ... I should wait till the game starts ... sorry

    ReplyDelete
  15. oh CHester that made me laugh

here's some pre-game reading. BR has a classic column, telling the fans to support TFS while at the same time taking jabs at him. that's talent

  16. soperman, GG's been outed by Boone over at HIO more than once.

JG: Thank you for your alter ego's ability to make and post your wonderful works of art. There's lots of FHF ladies too, as you know, so I'm sure you will throw them a bone on occasion.

Off topic (sort of). Mrs and Ms LD tell me the new Steve McGarrett is hawt. He's all right I guess. But he's no Jack Lord.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why why why, whyning bunch. Bleu•blanc•rouge. That's all you need to know. Sit, go into the daze of the red on your brain. Skating all over the fucking place, puppin goals in and in and in. Keep it down in the back.
It's like dipping your toe in the water on your 1st summer dunk, or the 1st contact of scotch on your lips on a cool September night, or that first touch when your wife has been away for 2 weeks.
fuck man it's started again! yo-wooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. So... Netflix comes to Canada AND the Habs start playing hockey again on the same day??

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART! WOO!!!!

(Granted, Netflix's selection thus far is utter shite and it's only pre-season hockey but I ain't lettin' nuthin' harsh my buzz, dammit!!)

    ReplyDelete
  19. In a McSploogian way, I love this place. Do I sound excited? GO YOU FUCKING HABS!

    ReplyDelete
  20. @ LD got to agree with your ladies; I watched the pilot just for him. He used to be on a vampire detective show on CTV a couple of years back an I remember thinking I'd let him bite me anyday/night (kind of like a brunette Eric for TB fans)

DROP THE PUCK ALREADY (DTPA - a new glossary term or should that be DTFPA?)

    ReplyDelete
  21. @bea - definitely DTFPA!, IMHO.

@LG77 - Just moved back from the US to Canada, and definitely one of the bigger drawbacks was the lack of full Netflix. On the other hand, we found last year that NHL Gamecenter makes a pretty good alternative ... and if your DVD player breaks midseason, it doesn't seem to be so necessary to fix it.

@GG (or JG, with or without the Pussy Cats) - I second soperman and LD, keep up the good work. And don't be afraid to throw the FHF ladies a "bone", as LD says ... ignore the idiots who complain about it, they're just freeloaders anyway.

  22. I watched the leafs/Sens last night, how sad is that? Well, not quite as pathetic as the leafs looked. They were God awful. I enjoyed it with every fiber of my leaf hatin' being. Losers.

Habs tonight!! Damn straight I'm watching it. With a drink. Or two.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm going to wait a couple of weeks to formally toast (hmm..maybe a live sacrifice this year?) the 2010/11 season, but it does sort of feel like the first day back at school.

    GYFHG!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ L Dude

Yeah, I know - just figured her alter ego wasn't cool with that...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm waiting for Wendel Clark's Balls to show up here. Nothing brightens up a blog like bitter laffs fans.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Sperman and LD's
I couldn't be happier to get back to work. DrGG not so much.

No idea what lies ahead. All depends on how twisted I feel at the moment, alter ego or no alter ego.

  27. WOOOHOOOO!!!!GYFHG!!!!

so you guys promise to keep poking me to keep me awake, right?

    ReplyDelete
  30. FUCK

TFS didn't look great on that one. oy

    ReplyDelete
  31. Please tell me that wasn't booing. Please.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yet another goal off his own defenceman (though still not pretty...)

This Palushaj guy looks good, though.

    ReplyDelete
  33. the sky is falling

don't think carey had much chance there tho

    ReplyDelete
  34. well that was quick.
    goodthing it means nothing

    ReplyDelete
  35. oh god now they're really booing

    ReplyDelete
  36. weel this is a pathetic start.

did I already mention it was a good thing it didn't count?
    let me reiterate

    ReplyDelete
  37. me no likey

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is the weak squad, right? Our star sniper, #1 centre, and starting goalie play on Friday, right?

    Right?

    ReplyDelete
  39. @GG, "@Sperman", best FHF typo ever.

    TFS™ looked unTFS™-like on all 3 goals.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm now goign Zen.
it's a game to get the kinks out, to see the youngones and the screwiest booboos to occur.

    ReplyDelete
  41. ok worst period of the season is out of the way. it's all sunshine and lollipops from here!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just got home from class, throw off the pants sit down to watch the game on the computer (some habits are hard to break). Nice young neighbour-lady comes knocking to borrow tools and I have to yell out 'JUST A MINUTE' while I very audiably search for my pants and take a good 2 minutes to get to the door. My seat in front of the computer is nicely laid out. I'm sure it totally didn't look like I was masturbating at all. I mean, everyone throws off their pants and plants themselves in front of the computer right when they get home and then answer the door flustered and out of breath, right?

And now I have to keep my pants on till she comes back. Or not...depending on how I want to approact this situation.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I also want to note that the first thing I heard Carbo and the boys say when I tuned in was "All three goals weren't his fault" and I knew where this was going. And here's another. I'm having deja vu. Hard deja vu. Oh, and the crowd gets on him. Super. This is going to be a fun season.

    ReplyDelete
  44. christ SHG.
I may opt for u can dance canada.
    can't be worse

spoke to soon. theyre booing already.
seriously poeple it's just an exhibition game

    ReplyDelete
  45. I feel like this is partially my fault. I went into work this morning all smug and taunting co-workers who are leaf fans.

    ReplyDelete
  46. No matter what happens tonight, or at any point in the future, just remember these are the the same Bruins who gave up a 3-0 series lead and 3-0 game lead to the Phlyers. Thinking about that is like being wrapped in my loving mother's bossom.

    ReplyDelete
  47. nice Moey.
you're now going to have to make it up to `price.
what does a rodeo star want for comfort food? heifers?

    WV> ughtj!!!!! (price less)

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Moey - thanks for fessing up

hey - 17 shots so far. that's great right? awesome offence and uh

    ReplyDelete
  49. technically we can blame the Leafs for the dominant play of Bruins rookies.
they got 4 players in the first 2 rounds!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. ok curtis sanford is in. we're saved!

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Bea & Bill,

While I was doing it I had the niggling feeling that it was gonna bite me hard in the ass tonight, but I just couldn't help myself.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Take that shortie and shove it, you fuckers!

    ReplyDelete
  53. LAPPY!!!

    The comeback is on, bitches!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey I remember those!

    GGGGOOOOOOAAAAALLLL!

    Let me have this.

    ReplyDelete
  55. now RDS has a good excuse to interview all the Frenchies outside of the rookies.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Moey, "While I was doing it I had the niggling feeling that it was gonna bite me hard in the ass tonight, but I just couldn't help myself.
    "
, could easily be taken out of context, by a pantsless orangeman.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Have I mentioned that the Broons have a history of giving up tremendous leads? Just making sure that someone has brought up the fact that Boston has recently given up huge leads, both in series and game form. As long as someone brought attention to the Beaners' habit of blowing laughably large leads.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Imagine id orangeman typed loads instead of leads.

    WV = cremic

    ReplyDelete
  59. id = is, yes my Freudian slip is showing, NTTIAWWT.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @Moeman LOL

    no surprise there.
    pleks rules yet again.

    ReplyDelete
  61. orangeman is thinking it'd be simpler to just sign in, but can't do it because it's just the preseasonSeptember 22, 2010 9:20 pm

Nice one, moeman. You sick bastard.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thx FHFriends, I please to aim.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wow, this is...this is pretty intense for the preseason. I may have to sign in.

    ReplyDelete
  64. 21-12 SOGs sounds like an cool album name.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Pyatt and Lapierre look like they're in a playoff game (and Pyatt seems a lot stronger and more physical than last year).

    Pyatt-Eller-Lappy for the third line?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lou-ee! Lou-ee!

    Too early? Nah.

P.S. Anyone else having problems posting comments?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Things fine here ReeRee, orangeman's hands might be a bit tied up though.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Ri,

I've been having them for a couple of months, I don't get a WV the first time around. Pain in the ass.

    ReplyDelete
  69. @Moey - Yup. Missing WV and also a "Please try again later" or something message.

    ReplyDelete
  70. and in other news:

Momesso was plodding in his debut on the radio tonight

gotta go polish my spats now.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Ri,

Not only that, but you'd think with a registered google account you wouldn't have to type in your email and password every effin' time. *sigh*

Well, it's beddy bye time. 'Night all.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh well. Can't say they didn't try. There's always tomorrow. And Friday. And Saturday...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Bring on the truculent Sens, 29 fucking penalties in 2 games. Sure thing refs.

    ReplyDelete
  74. orangeman is satisfied in more ways than oneSeptember 22, 2010 9:56 pm

@moeman: Nope, always got one free one.

That was a good finish. I'm just glad there's nothing to cause controversy in Habsland after this game. Nope, nothing at all.

Did I mention the Broons gave up huge leads in the post-season last year? Just making sure.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Habs fans just hit a whole new level of stupid. In pre-season.

Other than that... Tinordi: Can we keep him?

    ReplyDelete
