The Morning Skate for Monday, October 19th

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of scoring 59 points...
  • Welcome M-A Bergeron! Called up while the Belle of the Ball goes down. Ah Shawn, we hardly knew ye;
  • Is there like a new thing where the NHL doesn't play on Sundays to avoid the NFL?
  • In lieu of any games to report, let's look at a story about Sheldon Souray's hottie ex-wife showing her tits live on stage. This story warrants further investigation.
This is the week the Habs turn it around, right?

  1. Also, Quebec Junior teams don't get given as many Memorial Cups as Ontario and Western Junior Hockey League teams.

    It's a SCANDAL!

  2. Schadenfreude Time, with Uncle boob:

Saku Koivu: 2 points in 7 games.

Chris Higgins: 2 assists no goals in 8 games.

Alex Tanguay: 1 assist no goals in 7 games.

Tom Kostopoulos: ... I don't need to give you his stats do I?

  3. Almost forgot:

Mike Komisarek: 0 points, innumerable stupid penalties, in 7 games.

  4. "A few weeks ago, I wrote about Alexei Kovalev's blog on the Web site for RDS, a Montreal-based French sports network. I thought the blog was tremendous and somewhat revealing. But it appears his career as an RDS writer is over. He apparently didn't realize it would be presented in a first-person, blog-style format and was uncomfortable with that. So, he pulled the plug on it. Too bad; he's an interesting guy with a lot to say (not to mention it was bringing attention to his charitable foundation)." ~ LeBrun

  5. Boob: Since you're at it:

    Cube - 7 games, no points, -2, 6 PIM

    Lang - 7 games, 1 goal, 2 assists

    Dandy & Breezer.... /crickets

Actually of all the players that left I wish we still had Lang

  6. L Dude is gonna make Moey cry with that last line.

  7. Maybe Kovy had a taste of playing against his old team and realized that maybe Ottawa is not such a bad place to retire. They're paying him 10M, there's little pressure, hardly any French media and Montreal is close enough to drive up to for the evening. Maybe he got closure with his third star Saturday night and woke up Sunday with a new attitude. Maybe Montreal is a great place to play... a handful of times a year. I bet Saku is thinking the same thing. I bet they all are.

  8. L Dude,

Thanks for reminding me about Lang, my lower lip is trembling and I'm trying to blink back tears.

You know what else sucks? We can no longer mock the leafs. The planets are totally out of alignment now.

  9. Oh we can mock the Leafs alright.

Here's a very enjoyable and truculent hatchet job on Brian Burke.

  10. heh, nice find Boob.

WV = CHnorp, as in the Habs aren't as bad as the leaf but they are playing like CHnorp

  11. @Moey:

Sorry for dredging up those memories. I'm sure you've paid good money to either a therapist or your local alcoholic beverage retail outlet to try to forget.

Know what I'm thinking? Fuck that. The Bruins don't deserve the #1 pick that the Leafs are trying so diligently to deliver to them. To hell with MAB, we need more Hal Gills. Call up Lil Tits so Big Bro can have a friend to merrily float around the ice with. Call up Eric Neilson and keep a fourth line of him, Stewie and BGL (or as I prefer to call him, Pebbles). And make sure JM clearly states their mission is to pound the fuck out of the opponents, thus spending copious amounts of time in the Sin Bin. And from there, we know how good our PK is. Speaking of PK, don't call him up this year - EVER. He doesn't need to be witness to this. Live and learn in the 'A'. Trade Halak to the Leafs, so they have an actual goalie who will win them some games. And there we have it - the #1 pick.

  12. We're really not that bad.

We outplayed our opponents in the last three games.

    Keep the faith.

  13. @boob,

That was an excellent piece on "Burkie". Thanks for cheering me up.

Jack Turd has a swell piece in the Gazette today, just in case we hadn't noticed the Habs suck.

Wrong. Bend over and grease up guys. And try and avoid those late-night sports shows for a while...

  15. Didn't Jack Todd semi-retire as a hack in order to write the great American novel?

    How's that coming along?

  16. @ moeman

    I always preferred "fucktard" anyway.
