Canadian Golden Olympic Hottie of the Day for the Ladies

He's Jon Montgomery, but you can call him SKELETOR thank you very much. And he took gold yesterday in head-first sliding down an ice track. FUCK YEAH SKELETOR!!! [/holds up metal horns with both hands]

Look, I'm sorry gents. I really planned on featuring Melissa Hollingsworth today, who's a total cutie, but she crapped the bed big time in women's head-first sliding down an ice track, ending up 5th when she expected to medal. She was quite tearful after the race, so I kinda feel bad, but not really. She wasn't alone yesterday in chokage though, as our men's skiers failed to deliver any medal again, this time in Super G.

In hockey (this is a hockey blog, if I remember correctly), Alfie's 2 goals lead the Swedes over Belarus 4-2, Pleks had a goal in the Czechs' 5-2 win over Latvia, and Teemu Selanne became the all-time Olympics points leader with an assist for his 37th point in the Finns' 5-0 win over Germany.

And in other news, apparently we're a 3rd world country as there is a breakout of leprosy in Vancouver.

  1. Is it me or does he look like Joe Thornton...?

  2. Well, not so hot, but he gets two thumbs up for bringing home the gold.

    ReplyDelete
  3. @Number31 - He's got much bigger balls than Thornton will ever have.

    @Moey - Aw c'mon, he's got a tatoo!

    ReplyDelete
  4. @Sonia - Yea, looks like Thornton, minus the choking.

  6. @LN11: Aw, come on! I was hoping to never see that again after the trade. Now it's gone and spoiled my lunch. Again.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Looks like Gui minus the choking

  8. @LN11: See what happens when McDonald's isn't your unofficial sponsor?

    ReplyDelete
  9. @JT
Exactly! I bet if they cut out the french fries their personal best would be better than 45th, no medal and a lot of heartburn.

  10. Emily Brydon fell down in the Super-G. Her last Olympics because she is retiring. Such a shame...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Seeing Saku playing for Finland last night I realized I miss the little dude.

Sorry, that had nothing to do with hotties.

    ReplyDelete
  12. @Boob,

I really have to question my fandom. I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that I love Saku more than the Habs or Canada.
    Oy vay.......

    Go Fin...er Team Canada!

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Moey
I think it's a maternal thing. I'm with you. This team Canada just doesn't do it for me. Cheer for Pronger and Crosby? Canada gold, Saku silver and Halak bronze. A girl can dream can't she?

    ReplyDelete
  14. @11 - Sounds good but what about Pleky and the Czechs?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @RiRi
Nah, I'm good with him doing well but I think we need to solidify this whole goalie thing. Bronze medalist Jaro Halak has a nice ring to it.

  16. LN11,

I think you're right, he's the son that I never had.

My sister lives in the US and she's terrified that we're going to be seeing Miracle on Ice...the sequel. If that happens, the taunting from her friends will be unbearable.

A Canada/Finland final would be sublime.

    ReplyDelete
  17. @11 - True and hopefully, that would settle things down...

Perhaps a nice contract awaits Pleks when he gets back (*cough*get to it, Pierre*cough*) ...

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Moey
Liking the person, not the team is a maternal thing but you have to think out of the box. He's the Mr. Moey you never had (no offense to the real Mr. Moey, remotes fiasco aside).

  19. There isn't one patriotic fiber in my body that will cheer for Pronger or Richards.

  20. /begin rant

Canadian hockey needs to wake up. Other countries play a better game.

Obviously we have more of a talent pool, but our game has become dumbed down.

I remember in the 70s there was Montreal Canadiens hockey and Philadelphia Flyers hockey. Canadiens hockey won the day back then, but in the long run the Flyers/Bruins style has become the de facto Canadian style: dump the puck, grind, hit the other team to hurt them. Stupid.

In Quebec many kids don't play hockey anymore. Remember the typical Quebec hockeyer? He doesn't exist anymore. We've handed the sport over to morons.

    / end rant

  21. LN11,

I like the way you think. I'mm feeling very cougar like though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Boob
I'm happy to say that my kids play hockey every chance they get. They learned on our backyard rink and spent this past spring break at the park playing shinny every day, all day. A swollen knee is worn like a badge of honour if it resulted in an Ovie-like goal. The kids get along when they're skating and aren't texting to communicate. It's my happy place.

On another note, 24 comments, 22 from the girls. So - because I'm bored - I'd like to throw something out there. Do you find that the "invisible" deodorants really are invisible? Little black dress approved my ass.

  23. Watching the skiing is very frustrating.
"She lives 1 km away and skis this hill everyday. She knows this place like the back of her hand. Aaaaaaaannnddd she's down."
Not shit talking anyone, but is it the media building them up too much or are they really choking. I don't really know skiing.

  24. Quote from Jon Montgomery today:
“I had said at the beginning of the race that if I was in that position and I did get gold coming from behind that I was going to remain stoic and respectful because you never want to cheer when somebody else loses. But I have to apologise to Martins, that didn’t happen, I lost my mind when I saw the 0.07 come up and I was like I had stuck my finger in a light socket,” he added.

I know we have an international reputation to uphold, but enough of this 'politeness' BS. I don't know what I'd be doing if I won gold, but I'm sure cartwheels would be involved.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think if you win a goddamned gold medal in the freking Olympics you are more entitled than anyone else to jump around and scream and cheer.

Rubbing someone's nose in your success is NOT the same thing as celebrating your own achievement. Apologizing for being thrilled is bullshit.

And the companies have a very different definition of "invisible" than I have - but the clear ones that some companies have come up with or just gooey and disgusting, like using vaseline instead of deodorant. Blech.

This must be what someone else was referring to when they said "Canada has won a gold medal in Crazy." :)

  26. Still get white streaks on black. False advertising. You could try the pure aluminium crystal though, that doesn't show. Don't know if you can still buy them or not.

I have a really dry patch of skin at the corner of my eye, short of going to a dermatologist, any over the counter suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  27. You mean like that President's Choice ad where the guy says they'll take credit if it helps the athletes win but not too much 'cause we're Canadian? Yea. C'moooon you're allowed to jump for joy when you win gold. I know he's good friends with the Latvian champion he beat but it's not like he turned around and said "IN YER FACE! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

This Norwegian hockey team has a Hab-ish uniform on. It's freaky. Pretty awesome game right now between them and the Swiss Misters. Gotta love a guy named Vikingstad.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Vikingstad is as appropriate for a Norwegian as a British person being named Big Ben.

From the score it looks good so far.

Still waiting for JR to punch Milbury in the nose.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @11 - Any brand, doesn`t matter which one, always leave white streaks over all my sweaters. A little tip: use an old pair of pantyhose to wipe it off. Works like a charm!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Too bad some company doesn't come out with pigmented deodorant - I never wear white or cream, but wear black and dark colors all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @LN,

Merci, I'll give it a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Has Webber even played in this game? Being benched isn`t going to sit well with his confidence?

Isn`t it weird that he seems to have regressed under Boucher while most who`ve spent time in Hamilton praised him?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Some of the Chinese women hockey players are taller than Gionta.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ...Actually I don't think Jaro is really needed for this game, but no one really trusts Budaj eh?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Who scored for SVK? I`m too lazy to go searching for it :)... Has Jaro been good or not a factor?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Not a factor. Jaro could go out for a Japadog and no one would notice.

Visnovsky, Zed, and Stumpel scored practically from like across the rink. Oh and Hossa just scored. (Marian, that is. Yawn.) Now Handzus.

I think I'm gonna watch bobsled instead... That is if CTV will ever put it back on.

    ReplyDelete
  37. from scat clips to man-love it tough to see where this blog goes on any given days.
I wanted to see if anyone else is enjoying Cherl Bernard's rack as much as I am, but not sure if this is still the venue for such talk.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thx 31!

I just turned it on and saw Latvia has 6 shots... meh.

Tomorrow should be more interesting, to say the least!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Denny Denny Denny... I don't much like seeing athletes give up right at the end like that, especially after they proclaim they're looking for redemption :(

    ReplyDelete
  40. Here's a big fuckin' shocker. Denny Morrison chokes - again.
Kalyna Roberge (speed skating hottie) about to skate on TSN. Tomorrow should be a great day of hockey.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mickey Grabs got into a bar fight in Vancouver, was arrested and released. And I lol.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ha!

Has anyone checked on the Tits lately?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Belarus vs Germany on the midnight game. Sergei's been awesome in these games, but that team doesn't have much going for it. His brother would have helped a little, but not much...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Aww! How cute! Charles Hamelin`s girlfriend is Marianne St-Gelais. She was cheering him on as he just made it to the next round!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Halak with his first Olympic shutout. Slovakia 6, Latvia 0.

    ReplyDelete
  46. JARO! With the shutout! Big dumb Chara nearly blew it for him in the last minute.

And Francois Hamelin in the photo finish...........................
    ...................and he's second!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Watch out for those Koreans! They're sneaky. Go Go Hamelin Bros!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Milbury can't even give the slightest notion of credit to Jaro for a shutout - yeah it's Latvia but control your anti-Habness, fuckstick.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Action Pants was rather Inaction Pants in that one.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anybody catch the Georges Laraque speed skating bit on TSN. Oy.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Is "Action Pants" FHF-ese for Girts Ankipans? :)

The Latvians have the best names.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dammit! Francois Hamelin was just pushed off.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Well, that was unfortunate.

The Hamelin brothers start with the lead and the announcer says that it`s good that they are both in that position because they are almost unstoppable... bla bla bla. Cut to the end and they come in 4th and 5th. Sigh.

  54. I think we need a Canadian Olympic drinking game. If a much-hyped Canadian busts, we drink. If a Canadian wipes out spectacularly in his/her event, we chug. And if a Canadian flips their goddamn bobsled for the first time in track history, we put the bottle on our heads and pass out into a dreamless state where we have no concept of Canadian chokeage.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I`ll drink to that!

    It`s so frustrating.

Can`t imagine how the athletes must feel.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yea, Ankipans is Action Pants.

Team Colbert was beaten by the Dutch. Can't blame us anymore.

    Go Go Belarus!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Who let Ref McMoustache in the Olympics with his weak hooking calls.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Holy crap, Sergei!

Though dominating Team Germany is the equivalent of destroying the Islanders...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Free Scotty Lago! - kicked out of the Olympics because of this?
