Sidney Press Conference Preview and Open Thread

Today at 12:30, Sid the Kid will address the media in Pittsburgh to talk about his health. It is the most important press conference in the history of the universe. Not to make light of concussions, especially given a certain #67, but the hype TSN is building to this thing is a little much. Especially given we can predict the bottom line in one sentence: "I'll play when I'm ready." You may now skip the press conference.

  3. Very sad news about the Lokomotiv plane crash.

But on to Sidney's brain. The local media in Halifax are promoing this thing as "Is Sidney's career over?" To quote the great Oscar Leroy - "Jackasses"

  4. RIP Brad McCrimmon and all those poor souls.

    Smile and hug your kids/moms.
Go tell someone you love that you LOVE them because you don't know what tomorrow holds.

  5. presser is actually on TSN2 not TSN if anyone really cares

Man that plane crash is tragic. Didn't George Costanza have some joke about that in a Seinfeld ep once? like, all these teams flying all over the place and no one ever crashes? yikes

  6. Sad to hear about the plane crash, but you fly a Yak-47 and you know you are living on the edge.

Syd is now live but I have nothing to report.

  7. He is at 90% and will be back when he is ready to play, who could have predicted that?

  10. You know, I skip underwear quite often and nobody says anything. I'll bet it's that walking combover. You know how fussy he is. Sad about that plane and the boys. But you know there is something unsettleing about an aircraft being called a Yak. Seems like an insult ... you know like the Americants have planes called Eagles and Falcons .... a Yak, man I would crash too.

Is it hockey time yet ??

  13. Sad news indeed.

If anyone is interested on what life in the KHL/Russia is like read the book by former Habs coach Dave King called King of Russia which is about his one season in the league. It's an eye opener.

I know a lot of people call Sid a whiner, and it may be true, but I hope he decides to play for my beloved Canadiens when he reaches UFA status. He was a big Habs fan growing up.

  14. Pour one out (or two) for Demitra, Salei, Skrastins and the rest of Lokomotiv. Heartbreaking.

The hockey gods have been brutal this 2011.
