Pants!cast for a new season

Do you enjoy four drunks talking about hockey and occasionally being interrupted by a very noisy bathroom hand dryer? Then have we got over an hour of entertainment for you! The Pants!cast is back for a whole new season of drunken ramblings. The usual gang of idiots (yours truly, HF4, LG77 and Chris from HIO's Other Wing) go through all the Habs positions to preview the season in moderately amusing fashion. Hit that play button in the snazzy new season 2 player or the download link and enjoy the fun.

  1. About booing the goaltender: You usually boo a player for lack of effort, for not giving his all and elbow-greasing it. You boo a player when game after game he doesn't give any effort.

A goaltender stays put in the crease. He can't go out and make a big hit, he can't relentlessly shoot at the net, he can't skate back to the defensive zone to cover the puck carrier and help out your d-men.

All you do is wait for the puck to come and try to stop it. How are you supposed to judge the effort? Or the determination? It's barely possible at all. Ken Dryden was one of the calmest goalies of the modern era.

Unlike skaters, who with their efforts try to CREATE something, MAKE something happen, a goaltender has to STOP things from happening. So if a skater goes out, gives his all to try and score and fails, you still see his effort. And if he fails? Usually nothing happens other than he doesn't score.

If the goalie fails? It's a goal for the opponents.

So i just think it's ridiculous and unfair to judge the goaltenders the same way you would judge other players.

  2. YEAH! PANTSCAST!

The best thing about Pantscast is that I can download it and listen to it over my earbuds while pretending to be involved in some deep economic analysis.

    YEAH! PANTSCAST!

Lego, Pleks and Tits line against the AHL line for the Leafs.

Phoofer brings the puck from behind the net, suddenly he cant remember where he put his car keys, Pleks graps the puck, Lego swivels and sends the pass to Tits, who uses his AK into the net, all night long

Hat trick for tits, two goals for Lego and they will fit together.
Pleks a goal and 5 assists.

Barnaby has the Pens taking the East but NJ winning the Atlantic? Does that make sense to anyone?

  10. @fud: I believe that means he thinks the Devils will win the Atlantic in the regular season, but the Pens will win the East in the playoffs.

They rank him on top so if he doesn't come through they can blame it on the Habs. Even if he does, it'll be 'despite' them.

  17. @Moey, nothing good, all negative from every 'expert'. Placed the Habs 9th. hey couldn't get the Habs out of their way fast enough.

  18. @moe,

Probably a good thing. Basic rule of thumb, take whatever they say and reverse it. Doesn't bode well for P.K. *sigh*
