- Habs' (or at least Habs fans') dreams of Francois Beauchemin end in Toronto, where he signs for 3 years at 3.8 mill per. Saw an interview with him on RDS this morning and he said he hoped to play in Montreal, but Bob's offer was not what he wanted in terms of years or numbers;
- Jacques Martin is happy with the midgets (minus Big Wood) Bob gave him, saying we got younger and faster (again, minus Big Wood). He also said he would consider the "group captain" thing;
- Jacques gets some help - Perry Pearn as assistant and Pierre Groulx as goalie coach. I think I speak for everyone when I say to Pierre LEAVE CAREY THE FUCK ALONE;
- Here's a headline that will make your morning: "NHL to investigate Leafs for tampering";
- Blackhawks have trouble with their fax machine;
- Canucks sign Andrew Raycroft. Pencil Luongo in for 80 games.
Montrealers may be familiar with the excellent local blog Midnight Poutine. Yours truly took a spin on their Métro Roulette. Writing without swearing or naked chicks wasn't easy. Someone go comment over there please. It's fucking embarrassing.

Beauchemin "hoped to play in Montreal"???
Does anybody really believe Bob wouldn't offer him Spacek money?
Beauchemin's father and uncle both told friends that Beauchemin had absolutely zero interest in playing in Montreal--ZERO--and that is why he is now a Leaf.
What kind of player would publicly disparage the efforts of another team's GM, thereby adding fodder to the franco-media-flame? What, to avoid being viewed as a traitor to his home province?
Best of luck, Francois...
So which rally had a greater turn out?
a) the keep Kovalev in Montreal rally
b) the keep the Coyotes in Phoenix rally
Could someone look this up?
Speaking of tampering, you know Burke spoke to Komi before July 1st.
Oh, he did eh, Boob?
BEAUCHEMIN!!!1
GUSTAVSSON!!!1
Brian Burke is already a hero in Toronto.
I still can't believe Jacques Martin is your coach. Can't wait for next season.
And, clearly, Gillis was high when he signed Raycroft.
@eyebleaf
July is the only time you guys ever celebrate.
So go ahead.
@Boob: I don't know if he spoke to Komi before July 1. But as I've said before, and you as well, I think, you KNOW the conversation started with "If you want a spot on the American Olympic roster..."
JULY IS KIND OF AWESOME, BOOB. The weather is nice, the ladies are out wearing next to nothing, the Leafs are signing your former assistant captain, trading for huge d-men (while Montreal signs pint-sized forwards), and signing the next Jonas Hiller.
Shit's ripe for celebration. So, pardon me, if I do indulge.
We really need to make some kind of wager for next season, you and I.
You better pray Perry Pearn is not in charge of the power play. How he handled the Rangers power play for the last three years was painful to watch.
@eyebleaf
Glad you're enjoying the summer.
From your positive comment regarding women wearing next to nothing I take it that you are not in Toronto.
In Toronto the young voyeur yearns for winter and large overcoats.
I am in Toronto. This city has some crazy, crazy women.
I was in Montreal for the draft; good Lord, you guys are spoiled out there, too.
Why don't we live in California?
Oh yeah, hockey. Well, "real" hockey, none of that Ducks, Kings, and Sharks shit.
Eyebeleaf is right. Toronto's women are underrated by those who don't live here. A city this cosmopolitan and this big has something for everyone.
That said, I'd move back to Montreal in a heartbeat.
HF10...I'm taking notes here dude... >=)
1967.

@hf10: Not suprised to see you don't live in MTL.
I've heard 1967 was a fantastic year.
(You're dealing with another generation of fans here, dude. You might as well use 1993.)
