Would you keep Hamr for another 2 years @ 1.5 - 2 Mil?
And since there's nothing about the Habs going on...
I think Ottawa should give it up and rebuild...They had their 3 year window to win the cup from like 2004 to 2007 or something like that...
I think they should definitely trade Spezza. He's worth a few draft picks and probably a young NHLish prospect.
Just sayin...
2-3 years ago I thought Hamr was the biggest waste of cap space for the Habs, specially compared with Markov (a little more expensive, worth 10x as much) and Gorges (cheap and getting better all the time). Now I'm actually glad BG signed him, though I wish it hadn't been quite so rich a contract. I might re-sign him at $2mm for a couple of years - he has been solid, if unspectacular, and there are lots of question marks on the blue line. Jaro 2.0 I would usher out the door, Cheez Wiz may or may not be signed, Markov may never be the same, ditto for Gorges (though I'm more optimistic about him). PFK looks pretty definite, and I guess I would re-sign Gill if the price is right, but that's not a lot of experience that's safe and reliable.
Carey wants to go back to high school.What a shocker.
I would keep Hammer just to mentor the young kids.
Ottawa should blow up the team, so should Toronto, oh wait they gave away their draft pick for a box of donuts.
Its goat one year anniversary and he deserves a cake. I cant think of a dumb move he has made, sure Rhino in hindsight, but you cant blame him for sticking with chocula
more little tits
One that got away, but on the bright side goat can advertise, just think how great big tits will be on your team with a real coach.
I dont have one of those facebook things, but someone should start a petiton to bring the tits back together, for a first round draft pick.
I've heard talk of Gill being kept another year to mentor PK. Now Hammer wants to stay for cheap and in a reduced role. What about Markov? Gorges? Or Wiz? Talk about a logjam. As much as I'd love to keep Wiz, he looks like the odd-man out. Unless some team is willing to take Spacek off our hands.
Quick poll: If you're PG, who do you keep?
@iRiRi
If I'm PG and the players accept my price, I keep Hamr and Wiz...
I would not mind if Spacek leaves (or traded etc). I'm so-so for Gill. I mean, great guy, good PK player, good mentor (apparently). I don't mind if he stays or if he goes. But if I'm PG, I keep Gill another year.
Oh, and I know not everyone will agree with me, but I actually think that Picard is ok. I think if this guy plays regularly and keeps his momentum, he's a decent dman.
I keep Gill, cause when he spreads his wings he occupies more territory than the British Empire.
I keep Hammer cause he has a great nickname and can still score a highlight goal once a month.
I keep Wiz cause he also has a good nickname.
PFK and Swiss Miss and someone new or Vodkov comes back, but I dont think either Gorges or him can be counted on.
I'd offer Markov a two-year contract at a reduced price just to see what he's still capable of. The comments PG made after Gorges' injury indicated he was planning on re-signng him. I'd offer Hamr and Gill both one year. That leaves Wiz. Is Weber going to accept being the 7th D w/ out asking for a trade? Can the Habs even afford all this?
Also, in a perfect world, Spacek goes.
I don't put much stock (stalk?) in power rankings, but I love how TSN has the Habs 10 spots back of the 'mighty' Bruins even though they are only 2 pts back of them and have beaten them all 3 times this season (and having a much harder schedule over the last 2 months). Yes, TSN, the Habs are 'lurking'. Nevermind being 10-3-3 since New Years.
Keep Gill, he's a solid playoff performer, Cup winner, and great guy in the room. Keep Hamr at reduced salary, he still plays hard. I say trade Wiz to TB for the Dominictrix, why do we always get the guy who plays incredibly for two weeks and then fades into a wan vapour of hope against hope for the rest of his career, or until he is traded (i.e. CHicken)?
@O'man...
Yeah, I'm with you on that one...The 'mighty' Bruins. Pff...
(I just jinxed us)
Here's my take. I really like Picard. Spacek goes, PFK and Gill for another year. Gorges for 2 years and Markov for a year with an option if his knee holds out and returns to form. I like Wiz and just hope the energy he showed when he arrived returns quickly. And I'm kinda on the fence with Weber but I blame Chockula for fuckin' with him too much for me to be able to tell.
Just listened to the time travel hot tub - Most of them want to go back to the 70's, Carey was thinking about some wicked pot he scored in high school and Gill wanted to go back...to the future - then realised he couldn't so he was worrying about disease...couldn't make a decision - man now I know why he struggles to get the puck out of his own end - "I should fire it up along the boards...no - hang on - coach wants me to cycle some more - but there are two guys coming in on me and PK just fell down - Oh Man - That's a tough one - maybe I should pass it to Carey - no he might get run over by that guy in front of the net - hang on - where's Gomez gone to now - Oh man - that's a tough one - I'll just fire it over the boards to get he play stopped - hope I don't get a penalty - but...I don't know - sometimes that's the price you pay eh!"...Hilarious!!
@Kmaxxx - yeah, their fascination with the 70's was pretty bizarre. I lived through them. they weren't that great
For the record, I'd like:
Vodkov - Gorges
Gill-PFK
Hamr-Cheez Whiz
7th: Swiss Mister II
(assuming financially feasible, and Hamr comes cheap)
@Habs Fan 29
Ontario was great in the 70's
Acapulco Gold, Thia Sticks and fivers everywhere, and the cops still did not know what pot smelled like.
The music, the movies, The Rockford Files. Best Decade ever!
Quebec in the 70's: political unrest, crappy economy, and a true fear we were leaving Canada. Good times! Though Good Times was a great show.
@Kmaxx - That is so Gill, it's scary.
So the consensus is we need to liberate some trunk space for Spatch.
I grew up in the Laurentians in the 70's and I'd go back there too - there were only ever three teams worth worrying about - The Expos, the Als and the Habs! The music (if you ignored the disco phase of the mid 70's) was great and life was much less complicated. Remember "Firewagon" hockey? I do - and I miss the hell out of it.
@29
I want to keep those D men too.
I lived through the seventies, if nothing else, the hockey was awesome. *sigh* So was the music. And my boobs. *double sigh*
Again, what the hell are these 'seventies' you speak of?
I like 29s D pairings.
The 70s were fun.
Multiple Habs Cups.
leaf sucking.
Discovering girls existed.
Punk>New Wave.
Dyinomite good times. Curiously what never came to mind was the HABs ownership of the 70's. We are not worthy.
@momen you are worthy
Gill needs to be resigned way before Hamr. Hamr comes back if he accepts a discount. Markov's status sadly depends on his knee... :(
Also there are kids on the farm looking for space, and I suspect Carle will get injured just before he's finally traded...
Let me be a contrarian.
You have to keep Gill because he's the smartest of the bunch, why he even pointed out the seasonal challenges of pot luck. Need him to feed everybody else. I think Markov gets traded. He has great skill, but he has knees worse than Bobby Orr now. He is as solid on the futures market as Marc Savard. Gorges - keep, Hamr ???, Spacek- shot's gone, speed is going, and experience isn't value by Chocula's system. He can't increase gaps to adjust for slowing legs with the way Chocula wants to press. The younger guys- don't let the get away. Picard is solid, although not terribly quick. He makes excellent decisions with what he brings to the ice physically. Can he cook as well as Gill? We'll have to see. Say, does Darche's brother play defense?
Word verification=abler
Who could be abler at delivering dirt than Matt Cooke?
Man I post about L'il Tits and then go to Toronna for a day and you kids lose it!
Had to sit and watch as the Laffs mounted a comeback, sucked.
I was so Phucken' stoned during the 70's that I have no memory at all of anything that went on...oh ya girls and boobs, that was a pretty exciting discovery.
