How many times can we argue about this? Today we'll do it again! The Globe and Mail reports that Ovie will play the Habs sometime in November at the Big Owe. The NHL schedule is scheduled to be finalized today and released tomorrow. The article adds that the season will open with Habs-Leafs on October 1, and there will be some games in Stockholm and Helsinki too. And B's-Phlyers at Fenway on New Year's Day. I'll believe all this when someone actually makes an announcement.
In other news , what's old is new again as Jacques Lemaire heads back to New Jersey to coach the Devils. He's taking Mario Tremblay with him. Also, if any of you were having dreams / delusions of Tanguay's return to Montreal given his unsigned status, his agent put that to rest.

Oh Tanguay... all that talent, trapped in a man made of glass.
I hope the season opener is in MTL so we can boo the shit out of rotten traitor Komo.
My dad is a season ticket holder; he received a letter telling them he would have to pay extra for the game a the big O. Ridiculous.
Mario Tremblay is a bit of a pathetic figure isn't he?
Still, he makes a lot of money for very little work. Hard to feel sorry for him.
Playing the Caps in the "outdoor" game just seems ridiculous. If they want an American team in the game, at least make it an Original Six team. I have the feeling that most of us around here dislike the Rangers enough to make that game interesting. Frankly, I'll laugh if Ovie is injured and can't play in this one.
I'm pretty sure the opener is on the road, which seems to be tradition over the past couple of years. Opening up against the Leafs should be fun.
Speaking of big O's.
THANK YOU moeman
moeman - Wow. Thanks. Made my morning.
Who is the retarded turd of a businessman that decided we should play against Washington in the Big O? I'm with kevin - should be Toronto. I don't think Ovechkin is the same draw as the hated Leafs... This isn't New York or something.
It should be the Nordiques or the Bruins in that order.
I see Dale Tallon's been demoted. I'd put him at the top of the list of GM candidates if the Habs suck ass the first 30 games and Gainey gets canned. I'm sure there's somebody in the organization can teach him to use a fax machine.
Interesting report out of Tampa that Len Barrie has a Friday deadline to hand over $10M to the league...TSN speculates that he may lose the ability to give the yay or nay over personnel decisions. Hmmmmmmmmm.....
More Vinny speculations would be the only outcome of that.
I really wish Vinny would just have a car accident, and get some random injury that doesn't change anything in his life EXCEPT that he can't play hockey anymore.
No harm done, he still gets paid, and we can fucking stop hearing the fucking Vinny trade rumors.
We love Vinny trade rumors, they make our day.
For Koivu nostalgics...
Bob Gainey fail?
@Montréliste - AND Kovalev in there!
Hurricanes just added a bit of lightning. Greek lightning that is.
@29: Maybe thats why Péladeau wanted to buy the habs so bad. If the habs suck in december, who's gonna want to spend 13,95$ to go see a movie staring the team's former stars?
Happy for Greek Lightning (3 yr deal worth $2.75 million). He'll make a good WhalerCane.
All the best to Tommy K! Always liked him...even when he was trying to teach our up and comers to steal chick's purses in random bars.
Interesting... Looks like Kovy and Koivu will be back at the Bell Centre this year.
Thanks for the link lg77. There'll likely be some last minutes edits that'll find their way to the cutting room floor but a way simpler edit would be to just rename the flic to 'Pour tous jours ... Les Canadiens.'
Also, Glumac!
Speaking of being glued to Mac, the Ottawa Apple Store opens this Saturday.
MONTREAL – While they’ve yet to slip on a Habs jersey for the first time, all newly acquired Canadiens now know what numbers they will wear on their backs in 2009-10.
First up is Jaroslav Spacek, who will don Tom Kostopoulos’ former No. 6, the same number the veteran defenseman sported while with the Sabres, Blackhawks and Oilers.
As for scrappy forward Travis Moen, he will be rocking the No. 32 he wore when he raised the Stanley Cup in 2006-07 with the Anaheim Ducks.
Fresh off his winning of the Stanley Cup with the Penguins, king-sized blue-liner Hal Gill was obviously unable to claim his usual No. 2, with it currently hanging above the ice at the Bell Centre in honor of Doug Harvey. As a result, Gill has gone with the No. 75 in honor of his birth year. Gill becomes the first to wear it since Yann Danis in 2005-06. Only four other players had worn the number dating back to 1934-35.
Fellow rearguard Paul Mara turned back the clock by opting for the No. 22, the digits he wore for his first NHL game back in 1998-99 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
After having worn nothing other than the No. 14 while with the New Jersey Devils, Brian Gionta decided against asking Tomas Plekanec for his number. Instead, the speedy winger went with Christopher Higgins’ former No. 21, making Gionta the 46th player to ever wear those digits for the Habs. Only the No. 20 has been more popular with Canadiens players over the years, with 55 different players having worn it dating back to 1909.
Pete Mahovlich.
Who else?
Gill will look weird in a 75... I kinda expected him to go for #8 (or any single-digit number, really).
WV: "subbl". What PK grows during the playoffs?
what fucking imbecile would want to watch anything in that shithole?
oh, i forgot that the world's most knowledgable fans reside in mtl.
