My youngest son (well 31) bought me an authentic Patrick Roy jersey for Christmas. What can I say? Good kid. He was in the midst of teenage rebellion fuelled by ADHD when the Habs won the cup in 1993. He told me that he thinks the Stanley Cup win by Montreal may have been the only good thing for me that year. (I think he is right.)
I like Kari Byron but the hot tatooed chick that could weld better than any of them was the best.
Okay what about scoring more than 3 goals for a change? It's the Isles goddammit. They couldn't beat the Bulldogs. The only team sucking more than the sucking fucking Leafs.

Sister, Brother in Law and niece finally leave for a dinner, I crack a beer lie back for two hockey games, alone for the first time in over a week. Not 3 minutes pass before I get a call from the parents telling me they're on their way over to use the computer and hang out. Sigh.
I mean, yay family and...so forth. Now to dump out the beer (parents are staunch anti-booze types...you can see how well that policy worked out) and prep myself for the "You've screwed up your life, why didn't you marry X? WHERE'S OUR GRANDCHILD!" speech.
Maybe I can sneak a shot or twelve of whiskey in before they get here......

I missed most of the 1st due to a surprisingly emotional Gene Simmons family jewels or whatever it's called. It was about his family's Holocaust experience. I knew KISS could make me rock and roll all night and party everyday, but I was not expecting them to force me to choke back tears on Christmas.
I take back what I said about my family's visit earlier. In fact, I think I'll phone them right now and tell them how awesome they are.
@o'man - i saw that Gene Simmons family Jewels and it blew me away. really. you're not alone. i was totaly emotional as Gene stood there in the Anne Frank house. really was quite something
we have Bell ExpressVu up here so im enjoying TSN's Habs regional for the first time. is this Rod Black doing play by play? i really don't care that i don't have this feed in the city now
@29: When I lived in Europe I had the opportunity to see the places my grandparents suffered and I couldn't do it, although I did try on my trip to Ukraine last summer. I don't doubt Gene's response was sincere and I think it's amazing he was able to face it.

went to go drink some more and i came back and we're down 2-0. we suck, sky is falling, etc, etc.
The nose dive down to 11th continues tonight. Price is back to his 'not giving a fuck' ways...and they have absolutley nobody who can score on a consistent basis. The first part of the season was a nice mirage, but we are now getting kicked in the nuts by a cold dose of reality.

Y'know, Matt's analysis is spot on but I don't think it's cool to only show up when things are going badly. It's reverse bandwagonism is what it is. Nothing personal of course. Having said that, I only halfed meant my original theory of 8th by New Years. 10th is more likely now. Thank allah we're in a terrible division.

And having said all that, the Habs have out shot them 24-16 despite only having 1 PP to the Isle's 4. Having said that, you shouldn't need to take that many penalties against the Islanders.

I have to agree with Matt about Price. I was never much of a believer, but his start made me repent. Many of my friends told me to wait and I have to say...they might have been right. I just don't know what to think about that guy anymore.

I realize I sound like a flip-flopper about Price, but I've never been extreme on either end. I just don't get that guy. I want him to be good, he hasn't been bad this year, but he hasn't shown the same level of competetiveness as earlier. Maybe he's tired. I hope.

You know what? Weber can't hit the net and on a team where no one bothers to get in front for a tip, it's just sad. Time to stop giving him the 'shot'.
The dressing room must be very awkward these days... if I'm Price, I'm blaming the quadriplegic bums in front of me claiming to be NHL defensemen; if I'm a defenseman I'm resenting Price's inability to stop any breakaway, ever; if I'm a forward I'm frustrated that no one can get me the puck; if I'm PleXXXe I'm wondering why the hell I signed here for a discount when I could be centering Nash, Gaborik, or Iginla.
is this game over yet? is the season over yet? is this the beginning of the end? can i stop asking queations now?
I said a month ago that the real test would be the back to backs with Philly and Boston and the road trip. They've failed that test. Even if they win the rest, they've already failed. Not to say they can't make the playoffs, but first in the NE is only a dream because their division is awful. I don't blame Price, he hasn't been outstanding like earlier, but the D has been sad and the O has been inconsistant.
Something's gotta give. I don't expect to win every game, but I certainly expect a certain level of competitiveness every night. What I don't expect is a small speedy team to be a defensive shell every game.

There is NO competitiveness. If we don't score within the first 10 minutes, there is no hope of winning.

I completely believe that Chocula has lost the room because I know the guys up front wouldn't play the way they are if not forced to. Also, the destruction of PK.
I wouldn't necessarily say all of them can't play under the system because Gomez and Gionta did in NJ and it was pretty successful in the playoffs last season. But the disconnect of the GM who formed this team and the coach who has a system has never been more pronounced. If you're going to be a defensive team then go for big D men and rugged forwards. Not some speedy forwards and pylons in back. Plus, you better have a Hall of Famer goalie (ie Hasek, Brodeur) to back that strategy up. Halak stole the show last year and Price did earlier, but how far will that go?
back in Montreal for the first time in two years and was so looking forward to watching a game on a real tv instead of on internet, 5 minutes late and buffering always just before every goal.

It was a compellingly bad game, no entertainment value at all, I knew Rollie was going to be first star after we pumped 170 shots at him in the first period without scoring. It was a pretty typical perfectly bad road game. Play masterfully for the first 10 minutes, allow a goal to deflate you for the next 305 minutes, and play like hell for the last 5 minutes when it is certain not to matter.
I like to think they are saving their energy for the new year, but meh!
