The Morning Skate is looking for the light switch on Friday, April 24th

Hey kidz! How y'all doing on the sunny sexy Friday? TMS here. Thought I'd pop in just to let you know we're alive. No bullet points, but you did miss some stuff while you were tucked into your racing car beds. Marty came up big in a 1-0 Devils win. Flyers staved off elimination. The BJ's (giggidy) are toast. The Sharks are on the brink after a 4-0 shellacking at the hands of the FUCKING EIGHTH SEED (sorry, sorry, still some lingering bitterness).

The big story around here though was the Habs meeting the media. Here's Pat Hickey's take, but the best recap comes from our own LG77 and moeman who did an awesome job in the comments yesterday transcribing everything from the presser as it happened. Many lap dances to both of them. Go check it out if you missed it. And one last View from the Massholes - my forbidden love Raquel has penned an ode to the Habs. Pink jersey alert, but we deserve it.

So now we come to the annual "stick around, FHF is not going anywhere in the off-season" message. We've got the draft in our own building, UFA mania to deal with, and plenty of lame excuses to post hot chicks. As soon as I find where HF4 turned this thing to black, things will be back to normal before you know it.

I'd suggest some in the Montreal media are guilty of enhanced interrogation techniques.

Speaking of, erm, torture.

I love Gainey's press conferences. He surprises you with a quick, witty remark when you least expect it. I would hate to play a game of poker with the man, though. But you need a face and attitude like that to successfully take on running this team in this nutball barnyard of a hockey market.

And I hate hockey players that don't play a role in their signing decisions but leave it up to their agents. It happened with Streit. (Says he would have signed for less but was never made the offer from the Habs? Well then OPEN YOUR FUCKING MOUTH and take a stand on what YOU want to do, not your suit of an agent)! It's totally going to happen with Komisaurus, and it's freaking me out until I hear otherwise...

Kudos to LG & Moeman for yesterday's info, it saved me a lot of time not having to sift through the audio. I. love. Lang. He needs to come back. Caps are on the verge of elimination from the Rangers...ughhh. Pen's just need one more win.....Go Pens!

I'm glad to see so much affection for Dandenault in Montreal. I hated to see Detroit have to buy him out - he was always a trooper who played everywhere. For a few games they even put him at center because they had about 17 major injuries and he mentioned that he had played center once when he was a kid, and he wasn't afraid to risk getting embarassed by playing out of position.

Quiet, level-headed, soft-spoken low-maintenance player. I'm happy to see he's found a home in Montreal and I hope he can stay there.

Baroque - from your lips, er, fingers, to BG/Dandy's agents' ears.

That came out weird.

thanks for the kudos, 29! It was way more fun to do that yesterday than to work...

Once you go black you never go back. Am I right!?!?!?

Chin up, my friends, and this is coming from someone who took more than his fair shots at your team's ouster. I don't have much, what can I say.

I'm heading to MTL for the draft. It should be a lovely time. I plan to watch it from SuperSexxx.

@Raquel and eyebleaf +1's for your racially stereotypical humour.

Watching parts of last night's Sharks/Ducks game, I feel like it would be even worse to be a Sharks fan. Sure, you enjoyed a successful season and all but man, to have all of that potentially grind to a halt in the first round.

The lesson is that you should just scratch Joe Thornton during the playoffs. Oh, and Bobby Ryan is good. I think that's what happens when you let your highly touted young players spend some time in the AHL to mature and improve. Hope someone who makes decisions for the Habs has noticed that.

Any Sharks fan who actually expected to go anywhere in the playoffs is a dipshit who doesn't deserve your sympathy. Ditto for Caps fans. Fuck your shitty expansion team and inflated regular-season record, the lot of you!

@Raquel
"inflated regular season record"

Um...you do realize that the Broons played in a division containing 3 teams that missed the playoffs and one that didn't have much business being there, right?

Anaheim is just a brutal match-up for SJ. As for the Caps, no excuses because the Rangers suck.

The Rangers have goaltending. That's what wins playoff rounds.

Both of my teams are getting eliminated in the first round. Le sigh. I just came back from a lunch filled with Rangers fans and Broons fans.

I didn't eat much. Felt queasy the whole time.

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with divisional scheduling.

Washington let up 245 goals this season -- that's one MORE than the 3rd place Devils scored. A team that wins 50 games with that thin a margin between GF (272) and GA is due to have their bubble burst at some point. And I don't think I need to argue that San Jose's record isn't reflective of their overall team ability, as they won the President's Trophy but are clearly not going anywhere worth speaking of in these playoffs.

If you want to get divisional on me, I'll just note that the Bruins fared better against the Southeast Division (75% win percentage) than against the Northeast (70.8% win percentage).

The Sharks are almost done with their annual playoff collapse. I suppose the inane Marleau to the Habs rumors can't be far behind.

Well put Raquel. I just think the whole paper tiger argument is somewhat self-fulfilling. Would anyone really have been shocked if Washington swept New York?

As for SJ, they have bigger mental issues than the Habs at this point.
