I love a great bare knuckle fight as much as the next sado masochist. However in light of all the new medical info, its time to go.

I call for zero tolerance refing, video penalties called after the play and even punishment given for the next game. Lets make hockey the most beautiful game as well as the best game.

I'm a little uneven about this whole fighting thing...

One the side, I'm ok with fighting in the sense that it happens in the heat of the moment. You know, when a guys keeps slashing your ankles all night long and you're slashing his wrists etc, you both go at it, a few punches, lasts 30 seconds and you got it out...I can live with that.

I cannot live with staged fights. Goon fights. For example, there was an article about Brad May somewhere...He hit a star player on the other team, he admitted it was kind of a cheap shot, and the next game, Boogard "had" to pound him. Brady May stood up to Boogard etc but technically, there was no need for it. May should've gotten suspended, fined, banned...whatever. The role of goon has to go. Period.

So no, I would not ban fighting entirely, however, I would punish it severely. Ejected from game, 5 minutes major for fighting, game misconduct, 5 games automatic suspension for fighting, possibly more when reviewed by the league. Double games for each fighting penalty after that...

Horsecock (pause) Gremlin.

"Gremlin is bedeviling the Bruins, its a unbelievable crisp pass to the speedy Horsecock trotting down the wing, oh the pass gave him a sherwood and he has tripped over his own stick again"
At the time of writing 30 days, 3 hrs,30 min and 31 sect till it actually starts happening

Ya see kidz, this is why I leave the very heavy lifting to the JT's and EOTP's of the Habs' world.

Nice use of the military angle Jets. Not.

OK - A couple of things to cover here...Firstly - Is it me or does the new Jets jersey looka lot like the leaf kit? Not great overall (IMO)

Secondly, Todd has some good points about fighting and I do sorta follow his logic when referring to the NFL vs. NHL (fighting not allowed and a more physical game)...all that being said - there is still a place for the spontaneous "Fuck you asshole I'm not taking your shit anymore - I warned you the last time you hit me with your stick so now it's on mutherfucker!" type fights in hockey. They usually last less than a minute, everyone gets shit off their chest and we move on.

I think we can allow those but we have to clamp down heavy on the punch ups that start at the drop of the puck or the ones where they dance a couple of feet apart then wade in and start fighting like a boxing match.

My suggestions: Spontaneous fights that happen during the normal course of a game - Game misconduct (nothing more)

Staged fights (right after the puck is dropped or that take place well after play has been stopped - 10 minute misconduct, Game misconduct + 3 game suspension (increased by 1 game for subsequent occurences)

That is my take - whayddya think?
