Sexy Friday has a soccer game to watch

Oh, hello. Hope you're doing well this fine morning. Take a deep breath everyone and relax after the FRENZY that was... the Als game last night. Crazy. As for the free agents, meh, whatever. Sort of a wash. We did not get goalie Dan Ellis signed (he ended up in Tampa), but we did get Alex Auld signed. Really? Yes, really. Ugh. We did manage to get Dustin Boyd signed at a nice price, so the Little Tits trade wasn't completely useless. And Curtis Sanford was re-signed too. YAWN. Frankly I thought the most important Habs news yesterday was the news that the Mexican would be switching to the number 11 this year. What about Yvon Lambert dammit?

Around the league, Gonchar to Ottawa, Jokinen and Tanguay are going back to Cowtown, St. Louis reups in Tampa, Volchenkov got a shitload of money from New Jersey, Hamhuis to Vancouver for even more money, and Saku re-signed in Anaheim so you can forget about that dream.

Hup Holland.

Oh man, the best thing about that Gomez article is learning the Habs once had a player whose nickname was "Pig Iron". We need a new "Pig Iron".

Pig Iron Auld?

@HF29: Pretty sure Gomez is putting on #11 just so they can justify another jersey retiring ceremony like they did with Butch Bouchard and Rhino. Gotta do something to keep the fans in their seats for an extra half hour at the beginning of every game...

Is that still his nickname?

That #11 just might be the biggest controversy of the summer. The Gomezians vs the Koivuers. Personally I'm a Mullerian.

Now who are all the Portugese in Toronto going to cheer for?

Bravo, Oranje.

GoldenGirl11 said...

I bet the Portugese cheerleaders are acting all sad but deep down they can't wait to put on something less visually offensive than yellow, green and blue.

Higgins in Miami is gonna look like the last few scenes of Scarface.

Squid is the best. Look at him with the kids

Saw Squid on the toob last night commenting on how he couldn't sleep because he was gonna meet Yvan Cournoyer (the real Hero of 1972). The guy loves being a Hab ( unlike that fucking asshole Gu:( )

WV = meries, as in I hope Squid finds himself amd meries a beautiful Montreal gal (wait a minute they're all beautiful!) and plants himself there forever and makes little Squidlings that'll become Habs fans and maybe follow their Dad's tentacle steps ...

GoldenGirl, I was a Muller man/kid when I was younger, and it honestly took me a while to come around to Koivu (he seemed to ALWAYS be injured when he was younger).

But now I can say without any reservations, FUCK GOMEZ.
It's not just the number. It's that it brings into stark relief the fact that he was brought in as a direct statistical replacement for Koivu, at three times the price, and one-tenth the leadership. (There's a joke in there somewhere.)

Gomez sucks. Sucks sucks sucks. And Bob Gainey will forever be dead to me for what he did with Koivu, replacing him with that overpaid crap-for-brains.

@GG11, long time Muller fan myself, probably not for the same reasons. I realize he is eye candy for the female fans, I always admired his hard nosed play and above average skills, which upon further relection you would recognize also.

I always said the beginning of the Habs long descent into non playoff contention began with the trade of Muller to the Islanders not Patrick Roy.

@the Maritimer
It was his work ethic that made me notice him in the first place.

Go Oranje!

That is all.

Number 11? It's still Ryan Walter for me.

I think #27 would've been far more appropriate for Gomez.

RDS is reporting that Avtsin is coming over!

@GG11,yes, back in those days Red Fisher always refered to him as "Kirk is Work" Muller. I've noticed in a lot of your comments that you have a keen eye for the game. If Montreal had someone like him as their No. 1 center instead of Gomez, I'd rate their chances of being a contender a lot higher than right now. As it stands...they look no better than a .500 team on paper.

How's the summer camp thing going? Got lots of free time on your hands these days?

@GG11, BTW, loved yesterday's photo of the smirking Boob McKenzie and the errr...boobs.

@the maritimer
I'm guessing that 'Kirk is Work' is still around because of his work ethic otherwise he probably would have been given his pink slip with Jarvis last summer.

Two kids at camp for the overprivaledged, one kid traveling and one kid at home. Ahhhhhhhh. Seven weeks to pray that any one of them comes home having lost the obnoxious gene rather than all of their clothing and linens.

So, Ryan McIgottradedforScottGomezDonaugh will probably be playing for the BlueShits next season.

I really hope he sucks.
