Gui! Gui! Gui! to frustrate us for at least one more year
RDS is reporting Tenderness has signed one year contract for $803,000.
This is the year he breaks out into the dominating big winger he's supposed to be, right? Right?

The Four Habs Fans are four Habs fans. Three are from Montreal, though one of those is now stuck in the middle of the Red Mile. The other somehow grew up a Habs fan in the middle of Ontario Cottage Country, and now lives in Hogtown. They are all lawyers, so they are opinionated, and may or may not be assholes. HabsFan29 and HabsFan4 used to share season tickets (in the whites, they're not rich lawyers) so they could see the Habs suck in the flesh. But now that the Habs may be good, we've given up the tix. We can't deal with success.
HabsFan4 pays tribute to one of the finest gentlemen to ever don a Canadiens sweater. His legacy as one of the pioneers of the Gangsta Rap movement has always been understated.
HabsFanForever33 aka Panger is a Montrealer in Exile currently residing mere blocks from the Red Mile, yet whose passion for all things Canadiens has only embiggened with distance. HFF33 worships at the altar of St. Patrick. Panger still gets chills recalling the moment he met the greatest goal-scorer of all time, The Rocket. HFF33 is a life-long Habs fan, except during the Houle-Tremblay Era, when Le Club de Hockey Canadiens was dead to Panger .
HabsFan10 grew up watching Le Demon Blond on Radio-Canada with his unilingual English Dad in a WASPy little town in Maple Leafs country, at least until the playoffs each year, when he got to hear Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin because the Leafs played on opposite nights (if they made the playoffs at all). Rick Middleton and Cam Neely sometimes haunt his dreams. He thinks Thurso, Quebec should be declared a national historical site. If you aren't sure what the 10 in HF10 stands for, you're on the wrong site, buster.

Habs #1 pick Louis Leblanc to Highlight 2009 Stanley Keg Tournament
sorry 'bout the hockeybuzz link.
@LDude, that'll make N31 happy.
Also, what's with the extra $3k for Gui! Maybe $100 for every extra check he'll throw?
So the schedule is out.
Won't be seeing Saku at the Bell Centre this year. That's kind of sad.
Starting with a 5 game road trip followed by 6 at home.
Kovy's in town Oct. 17th. Everybody can dress up as Doucharek as the Leafs visit for Hallowe'en.
Don't play the B's til Nov. 5th.
...counts months on fingers...2 1/2 to go!
Tenderness is going to score 32 goals this year if he plays with El Niño and DonGion. I'm suprised he signed for under 1 mil. He obviously likes being a Hab
Like it or lump it, Latendresse brings phenomenal value at $800K...
Begin and Kostopoulos are both making more, scoring fewer combined goals per season than Gui!
Am I the only one who thinks the $'s are somewhat unusually low on this contract?
@ JC: He scored 14 goals last season playing on the third line and missing 20+ games due to an injury. Its a hell of a deal for 800k!
I read somewhere that last season, he had the best rate for goals scored 5 on 5 per minute. Or something like that. I'm way too lazy to look it up.
Speaking of jersey numbers .
Dou$harek will be in town with his fucking leaf on BOOctober 31, December 1, and April 10 (the day he polishes his golf clubs). Get your lungs primed 4HFers. I expect game thread comment records to be shattered and splattered, all over 4HF on those fucking dates (unless of course Dou$harek hurts his girlie (apologies to our beautiful 4HF gals but not Zombiepleks) shoulders and/or gets ragdolled by Lucic).
Habs at the fucking CotU: October 1, December 26, March 20. cbc/hnic wads get drained in their usual blue&white sploogefest.
Kovy will visit Montreal on October 17, January 16, and March 22. Will he be invisible?
In Anaheim: March 7. Probably for the best that Saku isn't returning home this season. Some/most of us couldn't bear or grin it anyways.
A bit sad that he signed a 1 year only deal... at that price I would take him for 3-4 years easy.
He can only get better and even if he tops like that, he's still a 15-20 goal scorer who can hit... not bad for 800k.
@ Moeman,
The worst part about his doucherism is that he's so excited to be a Leaf. Is he that stupid? It's Burkie this and Burkie that, gag me with a frakkin spoon.
I really think that Gui is a bargain at that price.
Then again, I've never thought he sucked, so I may not be coming from the same place as everyone else.
(too perfect) Word verification: rearmea. As in, Komo will be "rearmea"d all over the ice on Oct. 31st.
@Montrealiste:Here

He's actually second (1.08 per 60 min) behind Tanguay (1.14/60) and in front of AKost (1.03). Pretty good, but Tanguay and AKost are more impressive. The other important column is "Qualcomp", wich is an aggregate of the +/- of the guys a given player was up against. AKost at 1.03 with, by far, the highest qualcomp is actually pretty impressive; it was even more impressive up to when Carbo got canned (around 1.25 for most of the year). AKost litterally disappeared under Gainey; don't ask me why.
Gui! was up against softer minutes, but it's not anything to be held against him. Having guys able to rip apart the other team's non-first liners/first pair defense is very, very nice. I'm eager to se what he and Max! will do with a RW who can actually, you know, score from time to time (D'Agostini? I think Moen is due for 4th line/ PK / pestering duties with Metro...)
Anybody else worried that Gui will have a big breakout year (define that however you want) and then sign with the Leafs for a minimal increase in his salary?
I'm considering flying down for the Kings and Ducks away games. Should I bother with going to the game at the Big Owe?
Oct 6th !! Habs and Flames at the Saddledome !!!!!!
gui will still be a rfa next year.
Great! So Brian Burke can sign him to a 6M offer sheet...
At least we'd get draft picks in return.
Gui!Gui!Gui! Ah I love the kid. I still find it hard to believe he's pretty much just a kid. Too bad his brother doesn't seem to be coming back this year with the Bulldogs, though I wonder if his own shoulder injury was the reason (as it was a season ending injury, just as he was warming up).
And Shawn Belle is back! Woo!
What's up with the schedule? Getting that horrid Western swing out of the way early?
@Bryan: you gonna hook me up with Tiks again this year?
Gui has potential and $803k for him is a steal. Last year he worked his ass off all summer and started the season on fire, playing more than adequately beside Koivu and Tanguay. But I swear he got slower and weaker throuhg the season. With our new conditioning coach maybe all that summer skating is going to pay off...
