Kovy jogs down the 417

Peace right back at ya, Kovy. Alex Kovalev, Ottawa Senator.

May your enigmatic ways frustrate SLC for years to come.

Team 1200 says 2 years at $5M per.

Also, Perry Pearn, one of the new Habs coaches is a defense-oriented hockey man. He has a personality which could be defined as a less non-descript Doug Jarvis.

Good riddance!

Beauchemin joins Komi in TO...

moeman said...

As for AK27, we will always have this.

Beauchemin averages $3.8M over 3 years with the Laffs. Great signing, even if I hate the Leafs. Can you believe Finger gets another $200k per?

Kovy is 2 years at $5M per, confirmed. HUGE overpayment, it's easy to see why he and Bob couldn't come to terms on a contract...

Not upset to see him go, but all the best to him anyways.

What will be fun is watching the fucking retards who pass as knowledgeable fans applaud Kovy on his first return to the Bell Centre. While they boo legitimate class players who left this organization because our friend BG couldn't figure out how to use their talent effectively...fuck this place is backwards

It's only a game.

yeah your right Boob but what a game it is in this town!

Cammalleri on OTR (another typical anti-Habs edition) says he'll never be branded a bust in Montreal and he'll never be seen getting a Danse à Dix.

WV = paverse, as in tsn is paverse

@moeman - hes he been to our strip clubs? he won't be able to resist

so riddle me this batman......... another genius parry/thrust by the soon-to-be-departed gm...... did the boob "offer" kovalev about 1.5mm so he could say he "made an offer" ... if he had no intention of keeping his most talented player?

then why not make a deal at the deadline so you at least get something back???

the guy running the show is a fucking idiot. hope ak27 lights it up for 40 goals in ottawa.

I...um...I have no idea how to feel about this.

SLC, get your friends together and vote Kovy onto the All-Star team. He might even face-off against Heatley. Also, practice tossing and turning.

SLC i should have added to my line "just for the comedy's sake"

here's a full list of what you'll need to survive the Kovy era:

1. alcohol

its about time you post something for the ladies to look at! :)

we'll miss u kovi.

Add Kovalev to the list of players gone for NOTHING IN RETURN...... Komisarek, Robeiro, Robidas, Hainsey, Ryder, Beauchemin, Streit, McDonough, Grabovski

and probably soon-to-be-added.........Koivu, Tanguay, Lang, Schneider, et. al.

This is management?? Would this kind of shit ever happen in Detroit?? 15 years from now the asshole fans will still be dreaming of the 24 Stanley Cups!!!

Daniel Plainview said...

so was Babs supposed to trade all those players at the deadline? Detroit lost Hossa this year for nothing.

I will and and I won't miss Kovalev, who has to be one of the most frustrating players in the history of sport. He left a lot of good memories.

Kovalev, qui d'autre?

I believe there are some nice comfortable benches along the Rideau Canal, where Kovalev and Brian Murray can go for Kovy's annual "what's-it-all-about" therapy sessions. He'll be OK.

moeman said...

@SLC those benches ain't so comfortable in the middle of an Ottawa winter. Kovy could go for a breakaway down the Canal though.

Detroit actually has let several players go for nothing this year - every time he has been asked about it, Ken Holland explains patiently that they knew they wouldn't be able to keep everyone. That's how it is.

Now it's about drafting and developing what they already have, as the losses open space for Helm to be up with the Wings full time, Ericsson on defense, Leino, and possibly Abdelkader (although their preference is to keep him in the minors where he can play 20 minutes a game instead of just 8).

@Daniel:

Didn't you know? UFAs only come from teams with garbage GMs.

Nah, that's Neiler's job. It costs less to have him shipped back from Kingston C.O.D.

Totally unrelated question...

But why is Bob Gainey still the general manager?

bond said...

difference in detroit..... they are 2 or 3 steps ahead of the curve...... knowing that change is inevitable, they have already planned for it. in Mtl., they only react to self-induced crises; anticipate nothing. No chance.

bond, you forgot souray on that list.

This Free-Agency stuff is like an episode of the Twilight Zone. I mean...the Canucks just signed Raycroft!

Everyone saying "we let him leave for nothing" - we also got him for nothing. Josef Balej for 264 regular season points, 31 playoff points in 33 playoff games, and some of the most beautiful hockey we've ever seen.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Can Bob please sign another defenseman already? Someone who can, y'know, hit stuff and break shit up. I'd say Boynton, but he and Martin don't quite get along...

who's our captain, what's on second, and i don't know is on third.

somehow i still feel like we're a few players short of a full roster.

WHO'S OUR CAPTAIN???
