Happy CanadaUFA Day

OK everyone take a deep breath and look at this practically naked babe. Breathe, breathe. It'll be fine. Scott Gomez is a good player, and he's excited to come here.

So Happy Canada Day eh? Fuck I love my country. Canadians don't say that enough. But damn it's good to live here.

And Happy UFA day. No doubt shit will go down today. No doubt we'll be here making stupid comments about it and making lame excuses to post hot chicks. Should be fun. C'mon Bob, we still have faith! JayBo may be gone, but Heater is available. How about a Gomez-Kovy-Heater line? Not bad, eh?

Mmm, these fine Molson products go so well with cereal.

Happy Canada Day 4HFers!

Happy Canada day men! The rumor is BG can't figure out how to get the "Heater" so in his infinite wisdom he dreamed up the following deal last night; Heater for:

* Kovy AKA "lazy Ass"
* Breezy "Broken wood"
* Two front teeth
* Unlimited lap dances at Super Sex
* Reading and writing classes with J. Demers
* 14 draft picks cause the Canadiens can't make a good one and when they do they just end up fucking up the young talent

I have a good feeling about this one Men!

NOT.

Hey and am i the only fucking asshole working today?

Happy Canada Day! There better be fireworks. Word to the wise, stay away from the "party" at the Old Port. I went last year and it's a fucking joke.

Sedins sign with Vancouver for a bargain basement price. $6.1M for 5 years. Remember they were asking for 12 years.

Fuck me sideways, if Bob hadn't traded for Gomez, we could of had the sedins for a few 4-5 millions more. Fuck Gomez. Fuck Gainey. Fuck hockey, i'm tired of that shit

Young HF29 said...

i'm trying to be positive and all, but those Sedin numbers are frustrating

man it's quiet right now. too quiet

Why does everyone think that being able to throw more money automatically guarantees a signing? What about the possibility that, maybe, the player (players, in this case) simply prefers one location over the other? The idea of a hometown discount is thrown around when it comes to signing our own players, but when it comes to other teams, it stops existing?

Anonymous said...

I mean, I'm almost certain someone else (Burke) would've had a better deal for them than this regardless.

moeman said...

Lightning sign Ohlund.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283419

seven-year contract worth $3.75 million a season

moeman said...

CKAC says Kovy's back for 2 years/$8.8M.

don't want him back. and for 2yrs / $8.8 ??

if true Bob is letting me down in a colossal manner.

@ftc - today bob gainey looks like he is one of the bottom 1 GMs in the league.

SO MUCH HYPERBOLE.

Also: You think the Isles are trying to ice a team of goaltenders?

James said...

Best news of the day: LA Kings rumored to be very interested in Kovalev.

Please offer him tons of cash and take his lazy temperamental ass of our hands!

Boob Gainey said...

Holy Fuck. Hossa signed for 12 years by Chicago for a total of $63M

That is 12 years for a 30 year old player.

too close to toronto said...

i'll admit that i'm speaking hyperbolically, but i'm pissed. i have defended bob so many times over the years. i have preached patience to other habs fans in many free agency seasons and at many trade deadlines. i have used the phrase "in bob we trust" countless times. but i'm fucking done. i don't give a shit if kovy signs. i tanguay walks, i'll eventually get over it. but the fact that saku is about to walk, after all his years with the club, without so much as an offer from bob is a fucking disgrace. throw in the fact that he purposely went out and traded for the MOST OVERPAID player in the NHL, all while paying way too much... let's just say i'm done being a gainey apologist.

as an exercise, just do a quick tally of free agents bob has signed over the years, vs free agents he has let walk away for nothing. let me know how that turns out.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BABY JEBUS SEND KOVY TO LA

moeman said...

Available.

Beta169 said...

Yeah, I used to have faith that Bob had some sort of great master plan, but after all the disappointments over the last few years I'm fucking over it. On NHL XM this morning they were roasting Gainey.

The Gomez trade just feels like asking the prettiest and most popular girl in school (Vinny) to the prom and when you get turned down getting a date with the skank everyone knows has herpes.

Maybe, just maybe Gomez miraculously transforms into a 50 goal scorer and both Higgins and McD turn out to be busts, and it'll prove Gainey knew what he was doing. Whatever. Not going to happen.

I'm just trying to figure out exactly when Bob turned into Mike Milbury.

Shutdown said...

Spacek to the Habs
3 year, 11.5

kevincrumbs said...

Jaro Spacek? I don't know about this... anybody?

James said...

Boaf... we needed someone on D as Komo is obviously cashing in somewhere else.

Gainey just admitted he's giving up on Beauchemin.

Shutdown said...

I don't mind it... but if he retires, his money stays on the cap.

too close to toronto said...

according to whom?!

Boob Gainey said...

Good deal. He is a bit old but he played 22 min a game for Buffalo last year.

Young HF29 said...

well this is interesting

kevincrumbs said...

@Too close: RDS has confirmed it, as has TSN.

I am one of the few who's glad Komi is not coming back.

Beta169 said...

Maybe Gainey knows he's on the way out and is so bitter and angry over his impending departure that he's purposely hosing the organization.

Either that or he needs to have his authority to sign anyone taken away immediately.

I apologize for comparing Gainey to Mike Milbury. After the last 24 hours its obvious that's offensive to Mike Milbury.

James said...

Spacek isn't a bad player - he's had 20 or more assists every season since 2001, except for 19 assists in 45 games in 2005. He's had 45 assists twice in this span as well.
He's also a career +25 playing on some rather dubious teams (Blue Jackets, 05-06 Hawks, Oilers).

So overall looks like a guy who can move the puck well and is decent on the defensive end. I think the price is decent for this kind of player.

Only knock is he's 35 so most likely on the decline...

too close to toronto said...

are you fucking kidding me? a 35 y.o., 5'11" D-man?

what a steal.

Boob Gainey said...

Meanwhile Toronto sign Colton Orr.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Shutdown said...

too close- 45 points last year. He's cheaper than Schneider...

too close to toronto said...

@shutdown - yeah, but i don't want either! where's our size on D coming from? i want komi. spacek is NOT a replacement for komi.

James said...

@too close- sure Spacek is not Komi. Spacek had 45 points last year.
Komi doesn't have 45 CAREER points.

Sure he doesn't bring size, but it's pointless to thrash this signing because it's actually a decent contract for a good player.

kevincrumbs said...

I'm just curious if we're going to get double Jaro speaking poor English posts this coming season.

Boob Gainey said...

How are Tampa going to pay all those salaries?

Probably by soaking Montreal and Toronto courtesy of the little prick Bettman.

moeman said...

Bonus, rds says the Bs were also looking to snag Spacek. Also, KRex's game was to hit and hit hard and he no longer does that. Spacek apparently doesn't take a lot of stupid penalties ...

moeman said...

@Boob, PHO has been doing it for years (mind you their highest paid is Wayne).

Shutdown said...

moeman- komisarek will come back with a vengeance next year. I'm not sure his shoulder was all that great throughout the season.

Boob Gainey said...

Oilers sign the Bulin Wall.

So, Chicago, you're counting on Huet. HA HA.

too close to toronto said...

after letting this signing soak in for a bit, i guess it's not that bad. the spacek deal is decent value, that's true. but does this really fill a need? and wouldn't we be better off in the long run by giving the kids in our system more nhl minutes?

kevincrumbs said...

Hilarious comment from someone on TSN's live blog:

"considering an unproven goalie like luongo wants 8 mil a season and a goalie like khabibulin who has won a cup and made the conference finals wants less than 4 mil this is a great deal"

HAHAHAHA. Right, I'd rather have an ageing Bulin than a Luongo finally coming into his prime.

moeman said...

@Shut - time will tell, if KRex smacks Lucic around I will cheer him regardless

@tctt - agree and the Cube is no longer, methinks Webber gets some good ice-time next season

Go Habs!

moeman said...

The Oil hasn't had a stalwart goalie since their coked-out (allegedly) Fuhr. Surprised Rolonson is OK with a backseat spot.

Boob Gainey said...

I hope the Leafs sign Chris Neil.

I just saw a commercial for Shamwow. Vince has pretty much got the infomercial market to himself now that Billy Mays is gone (RIP).

Boob Gainey said...

Fuck.

I just hope Gainey doesn't do a Ferguson Jr on us and leave us sucking for years with big salaries and no prospects.

Anonymous said...

Quit with my overreactions already. So far, we've lost a third liner (Higgins), one potentially promising prospect (McDonagh), one which in all likelihood would not have panned out (Valentenko) and a spare part (whoever the last guy is).

Bob is going to need to do a lot more if he wishes to clean house of our prospects.

James said...

@Shutdown- you need to see Vince's Slap Chop infomercial. It's like the Shamwow one, times 25. It's so amazing, that I'll provide the link:

Potential Komi teams: Leafs, Islanders, Habs, Rangers(Bob made room for them) and the Canucks. According to Dave Pagnotta.
