TMS Salutes Robert L of EOTP

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of a Blackberry iPad...
  • Habs have a solid game and beat the Panthers 6-2. SuperpleXXXe was super, and Ryan White did everything to make the team. He won't, because we all want him to. TFS played all 60 minutes, and was just fine, thankyouverymuch. The 2 GA were both rebounds on power plays, and one was in garbage time. Plan the parade;
  • Habs cut 18 players yesterday and send them off to Hamilton or juniors or Minsk or wherever. No surprises at this point, obvs. List includes Louis Leblanc! Louis Leblanc! Louis Leblanc!!!, Tinordi, Avtsin, and Palushaj. After the game, they cut 5 more;
  • In case you don't follow Habs blogosphere news, Robert L is leaving Eyes on the Prize, the blog he founded and was his alone for many years. EOTP and FHF go way back, and we wanted to acknowledge the blogosphere's loss. In 2007, the Habs blogosphere consisted of a few Blogspot accounts - basically EOTP, the original Theory of Ice, Lions in Winter, the long-lost Sisu Hockey, and us. It was a simpler time. Back then EOTP resided at the, uh, "unique" URL of http://wwwrealitycheckeyesontheprize.blogspot.com (DON'T put a period after the www). Despite the wacky URL, Robert was doing great things and was truly nice to us. When FHF was nothing but enthusiasm and made-up commentors, Robert wrote posts like this that pointed his audience to us, and we are grateful. Over the years we have had many email exchanges with him and he's been nothing but the nicest of guys; HF4 met him once and he said the same is true in person. Few people know this, but when we turned down SB Nation (because of their strict "no strippers or meth jokes" editorial policy) they asked us who else they should approach, and we immediately told them Robert L. Ironically, it was Robert who had practically invented the genre of "Photoshopping the CH on hot chicks," which SB Nation wouldn't let him do. Most of those classic Habs girls you see around the interwebs were Robert's from back in the day. For that alone he should be remembered. CHeers to you Robert, and good luck.

    OMG! Now you fuckers were the last ones on Earth I ever thought would make me cry!

    I'd forgotten all about that post way back when, but it's as true now as was at the time. You guys are still as sharp as ever

    I'll still be lurking around the interwebs, popping around and helping the boys at EOTP with the odd things.

    Great photoshop as well. Only trouble is....not enough eyes for the prizes!

    CHeers all! And much thanks for making my day!

    Robert L - you will be sorely missed. Your blog was unique in the way it bridged the past, present and future.

    Plus, I tended to agree with you whenever you said shit that was (okay, not really but people freaked anyway) controversial. :)

    Cheers dude.

    Ryan White needs to make the team. Habs have a better winning record with him ;D

    @Robert L
    So basically I can blame you for my spiral into Habs Photoshop pornography. Now I understand.

    LG77: Was I ever controvercial?

    A controversy will be when my wife sees GG11's work, thinks it's real, and I come looking for a lawyer.

    GG11: To be honest, I've been given too much credit. I only found those bad photoshops and posted them en masse at the site. I didn't actually do them. Well, there was one I kinda did, but I didn't do do her. Dont get the wrong....where's my lawyer!

    Loved your blog RL. Maybe the FHFers can make you an honourary member and have you post one of your hockey gems once in a while.

    @moeman: What, like a Guy Lafleur farewell tour?

    I could do a Top 10 rumours I was sent but could not publish while working at EOTP. That'd be easy!

    Hey Robert, loved (don't know why i'm writing in past tense) your blog. I was definately impressed by the sheer amount of information, history, statistics and views on everything Habs. I tried talking about it to anyone and everyone i could that has the slightest interest in the habs.

    I am not ashamed to say you are, by far, a more qualified journalist than any of the ones working in newspapers that i have seen. (Yes, i consider you a journalist, not a blogger, what?)

    I hope whatever it is you're taking on from now on will be a success, and thanks for helping me spend many hours in the college computer lab skipping class reading your articles >.>

    Did someone say Oktoberfest?

    @ RL, "What, like a Guy Lafleur farewell tour?"

    Yup but no nordiques jersey and no need to reveal the hair plugs. NTTIAWWT.

    Hey guys long time no talk! Thanks for the summer work. I know how tought that is...

    Anyways Ryan White is a beast. He has Darches spot any day in my books splitting time with Super Maxi.

    I have actually moved from Ottawa to Montreal for an 8 month contract which I can now waste on overpriced tix. If I ever attend a game Ill make a post and look for yas.

    @dwgs, yes fest in question was indeed referenced in yesterday's morning skate. You gotta go check out orangeman's comments, right near the end!

    "Ladies and gentlemen, please refrain from walking in the aisles, return to your seats and return to your seats, it's going ot be a long, emotional, bumpy as PHuck of a ride 'till next spring".

    That is all, thank you.

    "The hills are alive with the sound of music........." (I sometimes dress up like Julie Andrews, my analyst says it's helthy, he is encouragimg me to dress like her in Victor Victoria, do I dare?)

    I found FHF via Robert L. He was the first blogger to to post my blog link on his site. I was excited and terrified at the same time. Oh shit, somebody might actually read it. I don't think he'll be too far away, this hockey stuff is kinda addictive.

    RL is in a class all his own, unlike the classless bunch of doper dickweeds who run this site...not that there's anything wrong with classless doper dickweeds...I mean I was once one too...I mean I love FHF too and all that...but RL is THE MAN...ya know? And yuz guys ain't so bad neither.

    I was always too intimidated to post over at EOTP and when I did once, it was a completely stupid error and I decided to slink back here.

    I've had no interest in the preseason so I can't actually vouch for Ryan White's play but didn't we once salivate for Gui!? We all know how that worked out...

    RL, I don't read any other internet logs, or 'blogs' as the kids/nerds say, I'm too busy working, studying and interacting with real live people (and peeing beds at various European festivals) but if you're good enough for this crowd....you might want to rethink your life choices. Seriously. In fact, if you're the inspiration for this blasphemy then I have to question your character in general. Go to church and call your mother. But it's good to see you're leaving the internet for something more productive and honest. Perhaps panhandling or staging car accidents for bogus insurance claims. Just leave the Habs analysis and discussion to those of us who refuse to take medication because it makes us feel 'slow' and 'not ourselves', Your Honour.

    Now back to the game. Wait, no game tonight? Slackers!
