The Game Day Skate for Thursday, September 30th

This pic just cracks us up
Bullet points for what you missed while having nightmares of UFOs in Côte St Luc...
  •  New Captain Gio does his best to shut up certain media before they get started: “My family and I came here and we’re embracing the culture and enjoying living in Montreal. It’s a great place to be. We’re going to do our best to learn French. I can’t make any promises that I’ll be able to speak it fluently, but I’ll try”;
  • François Gagnon wants you to know he was right when he told you Gio would be captain a couple of weeks ago;
  • A couple of legendary Habs captains think Gio is a great choice;
  • Hamr wants to be ready for the opener next week. He won't be;
  • Da Leaf is McSplooging over Nazem Kadri's 2G 1A last night after he sucked most of the pre-season;
  • Video of Alex Kovalev fighting from the game is good for a laugh.
So the second to last pre-season game is tonight as we welcome the Sabres. Game is on RDS and TSN, so we can get McSplooge's opinion on the Habs chances this year. Fun! More importantly, the FHF meeting at our (Hurleys) offices went swimmingly yesterday (shit we're hungover), so our season preview will launch later today.  Here`s a teaser: we predict the Habs will finish 19th in the East.

One of the HIO guys is reporting Henry could get a shot at staying for the start of the season. I like the idea. I didn't see many of the preseason games, but I liked what I saw from him when I did see it. He's slow, but I like his mean-ness. Any thoughts?

Yeah, 19th IF they stay healthy.

Also, looking at that picture:

One of these things is not like the other one, one of these things just doesn't belong...

Speaking of Sesame Street...

I dunno. Gio looks a foot shorter than Gill but he doesn't look that much shorter than Markov. I know it is just the perspective.

Gill looks like an alien!... I mean, uh, Gill looks like, uh, a legalized prostitute! Ya that's it! A prostitute! Not an alien. No aliens... let's hear it for legalized prostitution... woo... hoo.

Hey, I was at Hurley's yesterday for supper with a bunch of friends. Funny that. Sweet potato fries were so good...

Did the Leafs play the Sens for every pre-season game? Are they trying to force some rivalry shit down our throats?

McSplooge has been brutal lately. More so than usual. I think the bummer of not getting a GM job is catching up to him. He just sounds more...peculiar than usual. And talking about Tyler Myers with his shirt off was disturbing yesterday.

Hi Folx!

Back for a season of no goaltending contraversy!

@Jimmy Alex Henry? when was the last time Habs had a two-first-name guy? but seriously, I would lean more toward Alex Picard (pick hard) if only because he is francophone, larf, but seriously, he also looked solid and has more NHL experience.

What will happen to Weber (i.e. 'Streit Light' if he doesn't make it this year...I heard he will be traded. I've never seen anything particularly impressive in his play, not even his reputed great shot from the point.

Has anyone noticed Jeff Halpern?

Mexican Giant Danish?
White Plexi-Tits?
Vader Chicken Pie-ate?
Boyo Lappy Moenman?

Steve Said: enough with the PFK negative waves man. To paraphrase the great Brooks " to ask PFK to play defense is like asking Picasso to paint your garage door (one color)

Kadri and the White Capitan, its like the Rocket and Gordie Elbows for the 21st century.

The wavier wire sucks, the whole system needs to go back to the future, to a time where we got the top Quebec prospect.
