"The 20-year-old Kane and his cousin, James M. Kane, 21, were taken into police custody at about 5 a.m. ET after allegedly punching the driver and taking $15 in fare they had given him after he said he didn't have 20 cents in change"

Theft, robbery and criminal mischief charges to a top-line NHL'er are a great way to brighten up a boring off-season Sunday. We can only hope for the story's sake that at 5 AM they were coming home from a strip club.
Monday morning update - be sure to check out TSN's video report which includes an interview with the cab driver, "J.R.", who is straight out of central casting.

From now on, if there's a coin lying of the floor of the locker room, everybody will be too scared to pick it up.
Surf over to James Mirtle's lovely corner of the internet and have a look at the pictures in the comments on his post. Patrick Kane's new nickname seems to be "20 Cent."
Whoops. Here's the link: http://www.fromtherink.com/2009/8/9/983228/kane-arrested-for-cab-driver-run-in
Watch out Vancouver! Fun times ahead for Team USA.
Big and Little Tits and Halak for Kane. Make the call, Bob!
Punching and robbing a Buffalo cabbie for 20 cents - better or worse than stealing a woman's purse in a Florida club?
Stealing a purse is stupid.
Punching a defenseless 60 year old man is sociopathic.
Stealing a purse to retrieve a cell phone that may have pictures of your married teamate doing something less than appropriate with someone who isn't his wife is misguided and dumb.
Allegedly beating and choking a 60-something cabbie for 20 fucking cents? That's a whole other level of idiot.
Apparently, Kane has had some issues in the past when back home in Buffalo. Red flags a flying on his maturity level.
Also, they gave 15.00 on a $13.80 cab ride and wanted change? Cheap fuckers.
@10 The cheapness of these guys was my first reaction upon reading the whole story.
Kane is making an assload of money, will soon be a multi-millionaire and probably blew at least a few hundred at whichever classy Buffalo institution he chose to attend earlier that night.
Even if he didn't ask for the 20 cents, that is still a brutally cheap tip.
(Of couse, I'd still take him in exchange for a pair of tits and a Jaro).

Clearly it's always the mother's fault. Damn that Freud was good.
I always thought Kane looked like Frankie Muniz.
even if Patrick Kane was drunk at the time, i don't think that will help him if the cab driver takes him to court
