The coach asked him about it and Luongo said "Don't even think about it"....lol And that hit was late and a hit to the head....

Boo fucking hoo.

Suck it Boston fans!

In the Toronto Star they are calling for Rome's head, on and on, yet when Patches was taken out by a more blatant late hit, its part of the game, split seconds and all that.

It was a little late, suspension, no way given the Chara ruling. But this is Boston, so I expect two games, Fuck you Buttman. Collie is likely having puppies.

I am not bitter

Allthough I hate seeing players injured in this fashion...FUCK YOU BRUINS. My only regret is that fucker wasn't Chara. I couldn't listen to the complaints coming from cbc, boston, wherever demanding the league do something. Where were you when that 'hockey play' nearly killed PatCHes. FUCK YOU.

Get well Horton

Hadulf said...

Oh, and another thing...

Is Claude Julien going to criticize HIS player for being monkeys on the ice with the 'finger' incident? Dear god...even Dr Recchi joined in...

Hadulf said...

Oh, and another thing...

I think the broons just scored all their goals for the series. That's it. None left...

Go Nucks!

Anonymous said...

If Horton had his head up that is a clean hit...its hockey...spit seconds...Rome didn'nt know Horton was going to get rid of the puck. Cry me a river

Mr. natural said...

@SUBTLE, THANKS.

Hit was an interference call at worst, no head shot and I haven't seen it in slow-mo yet but looks like he left his feet.

the Maritimer said...

I seem to remember a trolling Booins fan somewhere saying that hockey is a physical, hard hitting sport and if you can't take it, then don't play.

Fatso Boudreau said if you don't like seeing viscious hits to the head then don't go to the games.

After all the hits from behind and cheapshots those rugged Bruins players love to dish out, well, this little incident is just that much sweeter. Couldn't happen to a classier outfit.

No suspension required. It was just a hockey play. Scott Stevens delivered hundreds of those hits during his career.

So, shut the fuck up Boston whiners and take your medicine. Oh, and you STFU too Marchand you little rat faced bastard. I hope you're next.

subtlepower said...

So shoulder to head isn't a head shot? Just curious.... We all know that all hockey fans are hypocrates..... so I will leave it at that.....

@ anon.... three strides after getting rid of the puck... Rome didn't know? BS

@ Hadulf.... Claude did call them out on it during the post-game..... Thank god... I was actually hoping a Bruin would have lost a finger in the stupidity...lol

Oleg Petrov said...

Total dive from Horton, completely exaggerated. Just ask Recchi.

Anonymous said...

We can't be hypocrites here. That hit might not look that dirty but it was aimed at the head. And I hate Horton as much as anyone out there but it is shitty that he is going to miss the rest of the playoffs cuz of some late hit. It is bullshit of us to cheer this hit and call it karma, if we do that then the Boston fans are right about us. It is Rome's responsibility to lay a hit but also stay away from the head. I hope Boston loses this series but if they win I feel sorry that Horton won't get to play any more games.

MaxPac is Wolverine said...

Look past the jersey, and try to forget how Bruins fans reacted to Max's attempted beheading.

That hit was late, it was shoulder to chin, and shit like this needs to stop. I hope Horton recovers, and wish him good luck.

Yes, Scott Stevens laid out many, many similar hits that passed as "clean" back then. 10 years ago we didn't know as much about sports-related brain injuries, either. It's important to consider the long term health and career prospects of the players, no matter what team they play for.

soperman said...

I would feel bad for Horton except for the guy he appears to be and the jackass team he plays for...

It can't be a suspension after some of the stuff they let go with no further action.

The funniest part was that Cherry suddenly thought that Boston should be allowed to replace Horton. Where the fuck did that come from? Suck it, Cherry & suck it Broons.

@Hadulf - right on, the last Broon goal for the series. Canucklehead win back in Vancouver on Friday night.

ti-cul said...

The hit was clearly shoulder to shoulder. LOOK. Fuckface got injured when his head hit the ice afterwards. Clean (bit late) scott stevens hit.

I like the way the fuckers milked it by sending about 50 people on the ice.

What a bunch of classless fucks.

Steve said...

Proof NHL hates Montreal

In Vancouver the NHL welcomes signs of support from Vendors, including Nuck Logos, in Montreal just the word Habs brings a lawsuit, seriously WTF.
Bash them Basha!

Steve said...

@Soperman, yeah everyone was thinking thats funny.(: But it is a good regulation, why should the team taking the hit be punished. Cherry did not drop a bomb with that suggestion.

soperman said...

@ steve

The problem I would have with "the rule" is that some players / coaches would have no problem faking an injury. How would you prove a player did not tweak his back? Maybe a manditory three games out of the lineup for the player leaving the ice but this would encourage players to stay in the game when they might make an injury worse.

The game gets rough and your star goes down, only to be replaced by a goon. Double advantage - protect your star and kick the opposition who could not send in another goon to match.

MaxPac is Wolverine said...

@ti-cul
Yes, his head hit the ice afterwards, which surely made things worse, but I've looked (or LOOKED, if you prefer) at the hit and it ain't shoulder to shoulder.

Steve said...

@Max pac that was a great link, I could watch that all day, I feel sorry for Horton a good Dunville Ont lad, but its a mans game, and that was classic hit celebrated by Cherry in 100 videos, rock,m sock em. A little late yes, but not dirty. When you are trying to connect with a guy doing 30km/hr, you cant predict what part of the body is going to take the hit. You can predict when you guide a persons head into a post its going to be near fatal.

Anonymous said...

weren't we arguing a few months ago that even though since Rome caused the injury and even though it wasn't intended to be dirty that he should still be responsible for the outcome? Lets not have such short memories my countrymen.

Young HF29 said...

Anonymous is correct. We can't be hypocrites, we are better than that dammit!

HeadHunter said...

The Rome hit was late. It was shoulder to head (although some of that has to be accounted for by height discrepancy. It was not dirty though momentum did lift Rome off his feet slightly. Again, some of that needs to be considered part of the the motion one makes when laying a hit. You step up into a hit after all. The penalty was called and that should be the end of it in a perfect world. To be honest, in a perfect world Horton wouldn't be an ass-hat AND he would also not be hurt.

I do wish Horton a speedy and complete recovery regardless. Last night's game was a flashback to Feb 9th and the awful circus that occurred. That type of (bruins) hockey has no place in the finals. The hockey world has been trying to forget the Bobby Clark era Flyers for a reason.

Well..Right back at you! You whiny Fucks!

andie said...

...honesty habs fan, defending that hit is like supporting chara's hit on patches. chara should have pulled up, and rome should have too. horton dumped the puck 3 strides before the hit and wasn't in a position to defend himself. neither was patches. offenders should be suspended for reckless play. yeah, the league fucked up the chara call, but that doesn't mean rome doesn't deserve time. lets get the shit out of the game and just play hockey for fuck's sake.

Hadulf said...

After watching that link from Wolverine all I can say is that this hit was late, yes. No head shot, no blind side, no leaving his skates...Horton's head hitting the ice is what did the dammage. I mostly agree with the penalty that was called, mostly. Interference at best.

Matt said...

Andie:

I agree, get that shit outta the game, but,the League (ie) Fuck-Face Collie not giving Chara anything for a "hockey play", opened up a "can of worms"

That was Murphy, if it was fuck-face Collie, he'd had him brought in front of a firing squad outside the NHL Head Office

"Two factors were considered in reaching this decision," said NHL senior vice president of hockey operations Mike Murphy. "The hit by Rome was clearly beyond what is acceptable in terms of how late it was delivered after Horton had released the puck and it caused a significant injury."

and the "big shaved Gorilla's" hit on Patches didn't cause significant injury???!!??

What a fuckin' JOKE!

BTW Horton is out of hospital

Steve said...

Four games I can live with, now lets be consistent. As a sign of good faith suspend Chara for the hit on Patches now, four games.

Fine. I'll fucking say it. I don't care if the hit was late, cheap, a headshot, whatever. Fuck taking the high road, fuck being classy, fuck this fucking Bruins team. I've had it with their bullshit, cheapshotting, fan spraying, finger giving, Julien's fucking hypocritical comments on EVERY FUCKING SINGLE THING THE CANUCKS DO, their callous disregard for Max's injury but falling over indignation when one of their guys is on the wrong end fucking garbage.

FUCK THEM. Fuck every fucking one of them. I'd like nothing better than to see that franchise swallowed up into the depths of hell, with their whiny, dish it but can't take it jackass fans (Cornelius excepted) dragged down with them. They have spent the last two years bitching and cheapshotting their way through the league, and the longer they are in the spotlight the more reprehensible, hypocritical and nauseating they become. They're a fucking embarassment on every possible level. FUCK THEM. FUCK THEM. FUCK THEM.

Habsfan10 said...

the Maritimer said...

Holy FUCK!

Four games for a "late" hit. 5 and a game for interference, exactly the same as Shithead Chara got and now it's a suspension. The NHL as NO credibility left.

No doubt now. Jacobs is trying to buy a Cup. Brown envelopes everywhere.

the Maritimer said...

@HF10 - Amen!!!!

Steve said...

@10 excellent rant

and another addition to the infinity of reasons to hate Boston. Soperman was right but his math was off, a four game suspension in the Stanley Cup finals ins way more than 8 games in the regular season. The regular season is like the last two minutes of a basketball game, the only part that counts is the last two games.

Unknown said...

@HF10

Beautiful. it's always wonderful to know you care so much about my team.

Anonymous said...

@10 a bit overboard I think. Shouldn't wish injury on anyone regardless of how disgusting they treat our team. You have a bit of growing up to do, this is a game after all.

Habsfan10 said...

@ Anon:

Completely overboard, I agree. But after a year of trolling comments from idiot Bruins fans screaming Pacioretty got what he deserved, after months of Brad Marchand running his fucking mouth, after Dr. Recchi accusing Max and the Habs organization of FAKING HIS BROKEN NECK to get Chara suspended, of goon Bruins announcers cheering as fourth line Boston thugs take cheapshots and use their equipment as a weapon, after all of Julien's rants about class when he's dialing up Thornton and Lucic at the end of games that are way out of hand ... well, frankly I've had enough. The Bruins make a mockery of sportsmanship, class, and respect every time they step on the ice or open their damn fool mouths. As a result, they deserve none of the above in return. Am I over the top? Yep. Is it just a game? It was until the Bruins organization made it a street fight on ice and in the press. The NHL as an entity is broken, and it's teams like the Bruins that broke it. For that they deserve every bit of bile I can muster and I won't apologize for it. Do I really wish for dead and broken Bruins all over the ice? No. I'm a pissed off, disgusted hockey fan but I'm no sociopath. But honestly? there's a part of me that wants the Bruins and their fans to feel every bit as horrified and gutted as we Habs fans did when Pacioretty lay motionless on the ice. Just so they might fucking think twice before their next act of stupidity. Before their fans come on here crowing about how their big, bad Bruins are men and the Habs are divers. That team reeks of hypocrisy and needs its comeuppance, and unfortunately the way that happens in Bettman's new NHL is by Matt Cookeing or Aaron Romeing someone's head off. Pity.

Le Douze said...

It looked to me that Rome was trying for a nice clean but huge open ice hit, but got his timing off. First, Horton dished sooner than Rome expected, so the hit was late, but Rome was already getting in stride. Maybe if there hadn't already beeen a gazillian hits that game and the tempers weren't flaring he would have slowed or swerved, but I'm sure he thought WTF, I'm going for that asshole anyway. Second, Horton had his head down, staring at his "beautiful" pass, so not only was he looking the wrong way, but when Rome hit him his shoulder was lower than Rome expected, so the contact was at the top of the shoulder and the impact rode Rome into Horton's head. Was the hit dirty? Well, it wasn't nice and Rome definitely screwed up and deserved an interference penalty, but I couldn't really figure out how it should have been more than 2 minutes by the "rules".

I really can't figure out how if that wasn't a "hockey play", the MaxPac hit could have been one. Yeah, I know that angling someone into the boards is a hockey play, but it really looked to me that in that one Chara intended Max to hit the stanchion. I don't really think he specifically intended to hit Max's head into the stanchion or break his neck, but, fuck, he clearly looked up, saw the stanchion, and gave Max a push into it. Even if that's not a headshot under the inscrutable new rules, it goes under the heading of "intent to injure", or at least "reckless disregard for the health of other players", and ought to have been punished severely.

I saw nothing in the Horton play that was as bad as that, irrespective of the outcome ... it was an open ice hit, timing was off, and Horton got caught with his head down, and had the misfortune to bang his head on the ice when he went down.

HF10, I know how you feel about the Bruins ... it's pretty hypocritical to laugh at other teams for being "divers" and "whiners" while being protected by inconsistent league officiating, and then act shocked when it happens to your own team. Vancouver is chock full of annoying little shits, but they have skill and work hard and for the most part they aren't goons.

moeman said...

Some quality posts in here today. Bonus, no suspensions warranted.

Orangeman said...

TSN is reporting that Murphy even called up Burke to get his opinion. I hope that kills any suggestions that the league has any interest in even appearing to be unbiased. What a joke.

If I was a broon fan I would be embarrassed. Well, first I would put on clean clothes, stop beating my wife and learn to read without moving my lips and count without using my fingers. But after that evolutionary jump I would be really embarrassed. At this point the bruins are a kid who's dad comes to the playground every recess to yell at the other kids to leave him alone. Meanwhile 'lil broony is the one beating on the kid in the wheelchair with a baseball bat and complaining about getting splinters. What a pathetic, classless organization. How can you even support them as a fan? Even the leaf keep their embarrassments within their team, they don't tarnish the sport as a whole (HNIC does that in their name for them).

The broon thugs are so dense they can't even come up with their own jokes. Lappy's little 'bite me' play was actually kind of funny (it's not like anyone died from the alleged 'bite', come down off your high horses). Then all the broon neanderthals do it, too. Lame.

I'm glad they won by such a large margin. That will make their inevitable fall (Friday, game 5) feel so much better. I hope they cry like the little bitches they are.

Anonymous, it's too fucking early to deal with your stupidity so I'll say this:

You (barely) beat the Habs this year. A Habs team missing its best player (Markov), its best shutdown defender (Gorges) and its top line left winger (you know who). Bravo. This year you won. Whoop-de-fucking-doo.

As for passing our "pathetic" organization, I've said it before and I'll say it again:

The Montreal Canadiens are better than the Boston Bruins in almost every conceivable way. More Cups. More Hall of Famers. Larger fanbase. Better rink. Make more money. Have more class. Garner and earn more respect from the rest of the league. Have more passionate fans. We're the Yankees to your Red Sox, the gold standard with over 100 years of being the flag bearer for hockey the right way. Your team has never been more than a fucking bunch of lunchbucket toting thugs who caught lightning in a bottle when Toronto ignored Bobby Orr in their own fucking backyard. Without Orr you'd be sitting on a 70 year Cup drought and would be even more bitter and pissy. Yet you feel the need to come on here and trumpet the fact that you barely squeaked by our banged up gang of [insert insult about divers or French pussies here] Habs team here when you should probably be paying attention to the Canucks team that's leading you fucktards 2-1 and just took out the only guy you have who scores game winners? Go back to complaining about Rome's dirty hit like the rest of your hypocritical fucking brethren and fuck off.

are you fucking kidding me?! crying about injuries as your excuse? what about the bruins - who lost savard, bergeron for a few games in the playoffs, now horton, lucic played hurt through the montreal series....you are not the only organization in the history of the league to deal with problems, despite what you may think. the difference is that you didn't have the depth to cover it. deal with it.

buddy, you are just as hypocritical as any bruins fan.

Habsfan10 said...

Uh, Jonah? Couple of things:

You guys are crowing about beating the Habs. I pointed out that we were missing some players that might have made a big difference, considering the series went 7 games and was decided by one goal in overtime. Fine, you had injuries too. You still won. Congratulations. Injuries happen to both sides, yes. But some Bruins fans are acting like they swept the 1976 Habs in the first round. Perspective is a great thing. Let's do it again next year when your Captain hasn't tried to decapitate one of our guys, when Bergeron and Savard don't suffer from post-concussion symptoms, when Lucic is at full strength - oh, by the way, if you want a laundry list of Habs players that were beat up when the series started I'd be happy to provide it - and see who wins.

See, I know why we're obsessing with your team's cheapshot, dirtbag, fucking idiot actions - because the Bruins are still on my fucking tv every night acting classless and mouthing off. What I don't get is why fuckheads like Anon need to come on here WEEKS AFTER YOU WON and continue to stir up shit. Seems pointless, no? I'm an admitted sore loser but if Montreal had won that series I sure as hell wouldn't be spending my time dancing on the Bruins grave on Boston sites (unless Puck Daddy asked me to, which he sometimes does.) You guys remind me of the fools who wear "Jeter Swallows" shirts to a mid-week Sox game versus the Orioles because the Yankees are always on their mind. Newsflash: Your team is playing the Canucks, not the Canadiens. There's no reason for you to be concerned about the Habs right now, yet tired Anonymous "Habs fans are whiners, Habs are fags, divers, flip over a cop car" comments keep showing up here. What the fuck for?
