- Interesting piece from ESPN.com's Scott Burnisde about the possibility of the NHL capitalizing on the woes of the other team sports. What? There are problems in the other sports? Why isn't anyone talking about this?
- Speaing of ESPN, look who's talking.
- In case you missed it yesterday, RDS has signed a five-year extension to their deal to broadcast Habs games. It turns out that RDS can put the broadcasts on the Interwebs too. Good news for FHF reader Jordi!
Look at the calendar kids. August is here. The summer is almost over. The puck drops soon. Yeah baby!

A blog that shall remain unnamed made a similar point about the NHL's lack of scandalous behavior, esp compared to the NFL and the Michael Vick story in particular.
Unfortunately, they decided to play sociologist and wax not so eloquently on why this was so. Their conclusion, basically, is that white Canadians come from a better background than black Americans, who apparently mostly belong to gangs.
I felt a little embarrassed for them.
Yeesh. racial card is never a good idea. and correct me if im wrong, but the source of the NBA's (the quote thug league unquote) problems is a fine Irish lad
The general idea is when they say "we gots you games on the interwebs!" it's a cheap lie. As convincing as a shiny one dollar hooker. I can sit here and rant and rave about the Canada hockey TSN has denied me and the google video "YOU ARE IN RESTRICTED AREA LOL" advertisement. So even when I have five people assuring me and I'm in the cinema chomping popcorn waiting for it to start, I'll never be convinced it'll happen.
From the Gazette:
""This is a great deal for fans not just in North America, but around the world,"said Domenic Vanelli, the executive producer of the RDS telecasts. "This is a new area and nobody knows what to expect, but we think it will be good for fans who don't have access to RDS. I can see fans in Switzerland who might want to follow Cristobal Huet or Mark Streit.""
Im hoping for you Jordi, but I know what you mean. Those bastards and their internet blocking...
