"Ladies and gentlemen, on stage for your dancing pleasure, the Concussion Makers" - Game Preview and Open Thread

Waiting in line details - 7:30 PM start, Bell Centre, Montréal, QC. On TV: RDS and RDS-HD in French, TSN and TSN-HD in English. Montreal English radio CJAD, Montreal French radio CKAC. Habs took the season series last year 3-1. Habs have points in their last five games though they sucked out the joint Tuesday against the Thrash. Flyers leading the Atlantic division with a quality 7-3 record. Flyers also leading the league in concussion-generating hits and subsequent suspensions. Get well, Bergeron.

Pay your cover charge to - Flyers. Femme. One of Hockey's Ladies of Greatness, call her a puck bunny and she'll go Dave Schultz on you.

Hot sexy Habs to watch - Saku Koivu has points in 4 straight games, and extra motivation to shove it up Guy Bertrand's ass. Habs PP continues to lead the league at 30.2%. After 2 games of The Franchise Saviour, The Christo-Wall is back between the stripper poles. He's never lost to the Flyers (Jinx!). The Hamr continues to be a FHF fave with excellent two-way play; he was the only skater who showed up Tuesday.

Hot sexy Flyers to watch - Danny Brière has 13 points to lead the Flyers. Will the Habs fans boo him? Martin Biron is dominating opponents, with a 7-2 record, 1.78 GAA and .948 save %.

Skanky Habs to watch - I'll bet Michael Ryder is getting tired of seeing his name in this space. I'm sure he reads us every day. Habs 5 on 5 have generally sucked. I would say Josh Gorges, but if he's in the lineup after the Tuesday debacle Carbo needs medication.

Skanky Flyers to watch - Derian Hatcher has been mediocre, and now he's out after knee surgery. Simon Gagné is also out with a case of dizzyness after a Jay Bouwmeester hit. What's good for the goose, yada yada.

Post-game adult entertainment establishment - in what I might describe as a "hidden gem" (if you like your strip clubs grungy) check out Oh Caresses. This place is hidden in St-Henri (the HF29 hood) and is really a dirty place. And I mean dirty in both senses. It can be depressing, the woman aren't that good-looking, but a good time will be had in the booths. Apparently it just changed it's name last week to Montreal Strip Club. We'll see how this affects the fun quotient.

Watching the game? At the game? Listening? Imagining the game in your head? Let's hear your dirty, dirty thoughts in the comments.

I'm kind of dreading the next 90 minutes of TSN, waiting for the inevitable "You know, Daniel Briere speaks French!" comment.

Although if that's the worst thing that happens to Saku tonight I'll be glad. I'm going to be nervous every moment he's on the ice. The Flyers no longer deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I'm dreading what'll happen if, say, Briere scores the winner with Koivu in the box. The guys on 110% and in La Presse might riot.

Big deal. I still don't care that we won the Tiny!Briere stakes. On the other hand, I don't mind that we have him.

Though I am just loving the creative refing tonight.

Young HF29 said...

mmm creative refing

LOVE the shorthanded goal. always a bonus!

Penalty shot!! my heart...

Young HF29 said...

seriously, the FHF love the Hamr, but he's gotta be in the mid-teens on the shootout depth chart

If Ryder did that I'd be furious, but it's pretty good for Hamrlik. Not everyone can have a shot like Greek Lightning.

I love Marty.

Did I just heard the guys from TSN say that we need more players like Gorges?

Can't believe I think about switching back to the RDS transmission.

[In an extremely sarcastic voice] I'm so glad we've established that we know how to hit the posts. Now, if we just knew what the net looked like...

Young HF29 said...

Nadine I bet you hear that "BOING" off the posts / crossbars in your sleep.

The Turtleneck getting feisty to protect his linemate. love it!

Nadine said...

You can hear it on the radio broadcast! It won't haunt my nighttime hours though.

This kind of game is what happens with the crazy scheduling the NHL pulled this year...too many days off. I think every team is going to have a few of these this season.

And sticking up for your teammates is hockey, all right?

Young HF29 said...

woohoo! 40+ shots. bring on Saturday night and the Laffs.

Nadine said...

Congrats, guys, and best of luck with Toronto on Saturday.

Meanwhile, we'll go beat up on Ovie and the rest of the Caps! (Just kidding, really.)

See you Dec. 13. Let me know if any of you is ever in the original U.S. capital for a home game, and I'll roll out a Flyers welcome mat for you. *smile*

For what it's worth, Koivu was cheered like CRAZY tonight at the beginning of the game. Plus, when he showed up on the screen to introduce the team (in French, natch), the place went nucking futs.

'Cause it can't be said enough - FUCK YOU GUY BERTRAND!!

Oh, and Gorges played a solid game tonight. Who'd have thunk it?
