Time to Change our Luck - Leafs Preview and Open Thread

The playoff beard. The rally cap. Adjusting your batting gloves 600 times per at bat until I want to shoot myself in the face. The sports world is full of superstition. The last time our Habs played the Leafs we brought you the perfect preview loaded with a bevy of female strippers. And we lost. And I was there. And I'm still pissed. So we're shaking things up today. Let's change the format, and hopefully, the luck.

The 411- start is 7:30 in Toronto. It's on TV, RDS and RDS-HD in French. In English, Sportsnet Ontario and Sportsnet HD. Montreal English radio CJAD, Montreal French radio CKAC.

Our good friends around the blogoshpere - Pension Plan Puppets once again features the FHF in his 5 Questions with...

Totally boring bullet points about the game and its participants with nary a mention of a certain MIA Newfie:
  • Carey Price starts in nets;
  • Pavel Kubina is out of the Leafs line-up indefinitely with a knee ligament problem;
  • Habs reaction after the tragic Sens loss - channeled anger or discouragement?
  • This is game 3 of the Habs 4-game road trip through the East;
  • Leafs will wear their away whites tonight, maybe because they have lost 4 straight at the ACC;
  • I was at the ACC on Friday night for The Police concert;
  • The ACC is a lovely arena;
  • Habs PP still leads the league;
  • Habs have lost to the Leafs twice this year by one-goal margins;
  • Leafs actually got 3 out of 4 points over the weekend;
  • They still suck.

Watching the game? Listening? Let's hear your thoughts in the comments. Or not. It's totally up to you.

Just like the Leafs the preview pic sucks.
Just like HF29 I’m still pissed off from the November 3rd game, I also noticed that with the more frequent Leafs sucks heard in the Bell phone booth during that game, we are not the only Habs fan getting really pissed off.

On top of it I was in that fucking ACC on April 7th and October 6th, I hate the Leafs so much that our back to back wins in Montreal on March 23rd (5-1) and March 25th 2006 (6-2, when Kovy plowed Mother Tucker) are still remembered as one of my best hockey moments in recent years.

Leafs sucks.

Boy I loved that Kovy on Tucker business too

I'm expecting the Habs to roll over the Laffs tonight.

If they could only channel half the rage i have over the last game in Mtl, this will be over after the first period.

And if anyone gets near Price tonight, please smash his face in (Tucker, Sundin)

A full pounding for 60 minutes - no mercy.

A couple of interesting points

For those of you watching RDS ,could it have been more clear that Markov didn't give a sh*t about this interview?

Did I just see Carey Price touch his goalposts after the end of the period? Hope to God the French Media doesn't pick up on that or the Price-Roy comparaison will never stop again.

Good period for the Habs. Not dominant but certainly not dominated.

Although, this sound like a song I know, and I don't like the ending of it...

just checking in from a public computer. Markov on the PP. good stuff. but we need more than one goal dammit!

DAmn Leafs. Missed teh first and then they score as soon as I turn it on in the second. If the Laffs score again I am turning it off.

im in hell

Young HF29 said...

PLEKS!!!! KOVY!!!! yeah baby!!!

Young HF29 said...

alright a point against a division foe on the road. i guess you can look at it that way

in Toronto the PA announces that the teams will play a 4-4 5 minute OT? Like the Toronto crowd doesn't know that? I can't ever recall that announcement in Montreal. weird

Now you're going to have to put male strippers up for every Leafs game.

Young HF29 said...

Matt we may have to use the male stgrippers for every big game now...

a D on a breakaway in OT against the Leafs. with Carey! facing 40 shots. does a win get much better??? Fuck im happy

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

leafs suck.

Now can we talk Norris? ;-)

Again, there are 3 things that make me happy in life.

1- Habs in a game
2- Leafs lose a game
3- Both happen in the same game

Who said Price should start in Hamilton? What was the reason again?

As a side question, the expression "playing for .500" always meant having as many wins as loses. Do you guys think the point for losing in overtime/shootout changed the meaning of it?

Tears in my eyes from laughing after Komisarek scored. He should take Ryder's spot.

I missed most of the first ... is it me, or did the Habs win one they didn't really deserve tonight? It looked like everyone other than Price, Chips, and the Danse a Dix line were off.

Young HF29 said...

j-f nice job on the Norris line. and the math in the SO / OT NHL is too complicated for lawyers

HF10 it's not you at all. a bit of a steal, though I saw less of the game than you, but 40-25 shots don't lie. give the benefit to Price.

and the Dance Ă  10 line is now the "number 1" line. Ryder has dragged the rest of the old #1 line down with him

Well, I guess McCabe is back in the doghouse.

The first period had some positive, enough to give me less of an impression we were dominated I guess.

But there is something scary happening here. The Habs have a good team, no wait, a great team but only when EVERYBODY work and is on his game. They are patting themselves on the back for having an ok game against Ottawa and while I would nedver say Toronto deserved two points against us, I'll say that an OT loss is pretty much what we deserved I think.

Right now the Habs aren't considered like a really good team. They don't inspire the fear of a Detroit, Ottawa, Philadelphia or even Pittsburgh. We are more the product of a freak ass powerplay that "can't produce like that all season long". But if we are still 4th by 2008, this could change. And if our opponents consider us like a threat we won't be able to get two points from a bad match like we did tonight.

Young HF29 said...

Sherry McCabe should just buy the doghouse alreaady instead of renting. another ugly gaffe on his part, yeesh, and thank you

Miss. Scarlett said...

To be honest, I couldn't really watch the game because it's not part of the cable we're paying for so Sportsnet is a blurry black-and-white picture with good enough sound and lots of snow. I know, I'm so dedicated.

It's become a little bit too easy to pick on McCabe, I almost feel cruel doing it. I think buying the doghouse is a good idea, he can add a guest house for when Hal Gill stays over.
