Max Pack: The Evidence

Recently, Habs signed 2007 first-round pick Max Pacioretty to a 3-year contract. He apparently tore up the Habs development camp. He's also apparently god's gift to power forwards. Upon trolling the youtubes today, I found this compilation of his play at Michigan. You decide if he's good. I'm too mesmerised by the helmets.

Also, Max Pac or Max Pack? You decide that too.

If he's a power forward... how about Max Power?

He's big AND he has soft hands. If he can hit harder and skate faster than #84, Guimauve's done.

I think we might finally have our version of Milan Lucic!

@anon:

He's the man who's name you'd love to touch,
But you mustn't touch!
His name sounds good in your ear,
But when you say it, you mustn't fear!
'Cause his name can be said by anyone!

and here's the audio!

Max Pack, for sure.

@ddohabfan: I agree, I think this is the year for Gui to go big or go home. He'd better have been serious about finding a skating coach this summer, 'cause in a race right now it's Max, no contest.

Looking forward to seeing what a year in Hamilton to play a full season and fill out a bit more does for the kid.

OK, seriously, how do you pronounce his name?

Pacheoretty?
Pakioretty?
Pasioretty?

@les_glorieux - I am not sure either, but whatever it is Bob Cole will butcher it

@les_glorieux:

Patch-areddy

which led to his oh-so-tough nickname of "Patches" with the Wolverines.

I guess to be 'correct' his FHF tag should maybe be Max Patch, but Max Pack just looks and sounds so much better.

personally i think max pack is corny as all hell. i cringe. patches is better although still kinda seems like a dog's name.

i don't like max pack either, i vote for max power or patches. thank you, that is all.

Another vote for Patches.

You just don't see many original nicknames these days. Saks for Koivu, Kovy for Kovalev...boring. Whatever happened to the great nicknames like 'The Rocket', Boom Boom, Dave 'the Hammer' Shultz, Punch Imlach, the Golden Jet, etc.

it's time to start getting a little more interesting with the nicknames. With so many great young players, it's a good time to hand out some decent nicknames to make the newest Habs dynasty hard to forget. Of course for a nickname to stick, it has to be used by teammates and media, so this is all moot, but...

Ideas:
Tom Kostopolous - K-OS (i.e. chaos - big in greek mythology).
Komisarek - I like your DOOM. Also Tank.
Carey Price - I'm pretty sure TFS won't catch on outside of this blog.
If the Habs defence is weak, we could call him "The Load".
Or how about "Dollars", ooh, or better yet "Money" (as in 'in the bank')...see because his name is Price, Dollars and Money are related...I should get to work - more nickname (lame or otherwise) ideas in future posts.

Oh, and if Kostopolous could play the powerplay with the brothers we could have a Chaos line.

people in the media seem to have already started to go with Pac-Man.

Hopefully he can avoid all the hookers, drive-by's and blow that the other athlete "pac-man" couldn't.
