The Morning Skate for Thursday, August 30

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of the five unanswered goals the Habs scored on the Rangers in the second period on March 27, 2007...
  • WAR IN THE BLOGOSPHERE!!! A slug fest between the FHF and the Blueshirt Bulletin. Scroll down for some quality sparring.
  • Jose Theodore will find his seat as the worst backup goaltender in the NHL roughly 5 weeks late, a period the Avs will learn to call "the happiest times of our lives".
  • Some Ranger bloggers and fans have no class whatsoever. It saddens me to say that New York, a truly vibrant and wonderful place, has been represented by a bunch of clumsy, abrasive fools.

HF29 lives! We are relieved to have received word from our brave friend. He has much to share with us kind folk. Our anxiety has lessened, our turbulent nights shall once again offer their comforting slumbers, and TMS shall return to its rightful owner.

I am sorry but I really have to laugh at this.

You see when I read your original attempt at humor that started this entire bunch of stupidity I was thinking when did Hab fans start acting so poorly?

When did Hab fans lose their class (see Jodie as a prime example)?

Why would someone take a private email and publish it without asking first? Yet you want to trash all Ranger fans but will not once say "ok maybe what we did was not that cool"

Should I judge all Canadian fans or even all Canadians in the same way as you are trying to paint Ranger fans?

Should I wager that when someone responds to this we will see that Jodie will show it's immature side once again?

Should we wager that rather than seeing that perhaps you guys tried a joke that backfired you will continue to try to blame Ranger fans?

Or should I dare hope that Real Canadian fans will show up and say that "yes something dumb happened here and we have our own share of blame to accept"?

If the former happens then I will be able to say this:

Some Hab bloggers and fans have no class whatsoever. It saddens me to say that Montreal , a truly vibrant and wonderful place, has been represented by a bunch of clumsy, abrasive fools.

Let us see how you folks react now.

I am really confused. You guys think we are mean spirited Montrealers who hide behind a veil of humour to disseminate hateful messages. There is so much hate and rage on the internet, why hide behind a veil? Why not just plainly hate out loud? That's what we would have done had we really meant to hurt someone here.

Are you joking? Do you really think that when we laugh at a stupid arena, a mullet or crazy fans (and don't worry, we have our share of idiotic fans here too) we are trying to injure someone? How the hell to you lend us those intentions? I think you should go back to nursing your wounds and protecting your team with your lioness vigilance and quit playing the victim card. If you see how much we have laughed at our own team, our own GM, for godsake look at our blog picture, the stupid mascott with Gainey. Our first post was about how much the Habs suck. How you guys take this so seriously is beyond reason. What did you want us to do, put out a disclaimer? Warning: This is a joke: We don't hate the Rangers and we are not jealous of the women they have slept with. Really, who are you kidding.

I posted the email because it was sent to me. If this type of mail had been sent by a credible journalist, it may well have found it's way on the net somewhere. I don't think a reputable writer would have reacted the way Dubi did. Can you imagine Bob Costas going off on a blogger after having received a Ten things I hate about the Yankees post? Get real. He would have laughed it off and gone about his day. Dubi chose another path. Let him live with it.

Our blog has been up for a 3 months now. We post EVERY DAY. We have received positive responses, in this off-season from many, including prominent journalists. We are not hungry for recognition. We do this for fun, as an outlet to our passion. We write from our respective offices, as we hold on our to our jobs in the practice of law. Of course, we are attempting to gain more popularity even tough we took off well before the Ranger post. But to say that we are legitimate haters and want to use that as a serious ploy to bring in
readers is absolutely ludicrous.

You are the lawyer so let me ask you something if you can for a second try to look at things from MY point of view.

You know try to take the nonsense, the crap and the lame attacks out of it and look at it from the other side of the fence.

If I attacked one of your friends, if I attacked your employer or a loved one I bet you would be coming after me with everything you got right?

Neither of us actually knows the true other person so all we have is what we are seeing based upon the behaviors shown by the other side.

You think to quote your own words:

Some Ranger bloggers and fans have no class whatsoever. It saddens me to say that New York, a truly vibrant and wonderful place, has been represented by a bunch of clumsy, abrasive fools.

Yet which one of us also said this?

I am really confused. You guys think we are mean spirited Montrealers who hide behind a veil of humour to disseminate hateful messages. You continue to act like you are a swell wonderful guy who helps old women cross the street, is in line for sainthood etc etc.

Maybe that works for you but again from where I sit that is not the message I see from you and you simply do not see it.

I said it very plainly and quite clearly the other day that I did not believe you guys had bad intentions (or do I really need to dig though your site to show you the message where even you said I was trying to be rational?)

I guess you do not remember anything more than a day because I also wished you well with your site.

I said that this was a joke that backfired, yet you are trying to say I am trying to play the victim card.

So please tell me what exactly am I supposed to think of you?

You attacked a close friend of mine, you trashed my hometown and labeled Ranger fans (which I am one of even as a writer) fools.

So where exactly am I supposed to see that you are a nice guy?

Sadly from where I sit I see you as trying to play the victim. I see you continuing to blame everyone but yourself for how this thing has gotten out of hand.

I had hoped that at least you and I could have reached some sort of understanding and we could have walked away from this thinking how better of the other.

Dear Prospect Park. I really hope this has not left you tossing and turning in the middle of the night because the time of your last reply worries me :) Unless you are a night owl, in which case I am relieved.

The some Ranger fans I was talking about are the ones leaving comments laced with profanity, insulting people from Quebec, lashing out in a pretty agressive way. That makes those people the clumsy fools. That leaves them without class. I don't include you among the group because I actually enjoy reading your comments.

You ask me how I would react if someone insulted my friends or family. Maybe this is where we differ. If someone posted a list on the Habs trashing our croissant eating fans or our 24 cup laurel sitting stance, believe me I would laugh. About 3 years ago, Robert Smeigel came up to Quebec City with Triumoh the Insult comic dog that he does on Conan O'Brien. He destroyed the people, lashing out at them with every stereotype in the book. It got people pretty riled up. I thought it was brilliant. Just hilarious. Letterman does fan and team bashing on his top 10 lists regularly. Do Ranger fans get that upset when that happens as well?

Dubi being your friend has made this a sensitive topic for you. I completely understand. Just remember that our post was a joke about the Rangers - Dubi responded by calling us pathetic, idiots and by doubting our integrity and the historical content. He could have worded it otherwise. The fact that he didn't led me to post the mail. I thought it was a bit of a disproportionate response. I was surprised the Blueshirt Bulletin of all blogs would take it that seriously. Maybe I have underestimated Ranger passion and dedication.

Imagine we had all met in a bar in Montreal or Manhattan, and one of us had pulled out the 10 things list and just started yelling out on a table. I think everybody would have had a good laugh. The internet, email... words are often misinterpreted in this medium because of the distance, the inability to hear a tone of voice or see a facial expression.

Maybe one day we can all get together for a Habs Rangers game and laugh this off. I think that would be great. A MSG, Bell Center (the worst name ever, I'm still waiting for a corporate brain to turn itself on and tag on the Forum to the name)mutual visit would be fantastic. New York, my favorite place on this earth, would be great to watch a game there.

Thanks for your comments Prospect Park.
