Bring on the Ugliness - Capitals Game Preview and Open Thread
Waiting in line details - 7 PM start at the Verizon Center. Yes, I would like to save on my long distance! Habs own the second best road record in the East, so that's something, as they head out on the road for the next 6. Washington, despite sitting last in the East, are actually quite hot, 4-1-1 in their last 6 games and 7-4-2 since Bruce Boudreau took over as coach. AND they took the Red Wings to a shootout the other night. Habs could never say that.
Pay your cover charge to - both of the HLOG Caps representatives run awesome blogs, so let's double the cover tonight. Internet legend CapsChick runs A View from the Cheap Seats, and Shmee rocks over at Capital Addiction.
Hot sexy Habs to watch - hmm. Huet is back between the pipes. Though only 1-4-1 in his last 6, not really his fault. Captain K has 4 points in his last 3 games, and avoided the discipline of the NHL, which had used up its suspension game quota on Chris Simon.
Hot sexy Capitals to watch - Alex Ovechkin of course. Scoring machine with 24 goals already. Olie the Goalie is 15-12-4 with two shutouts, a 2.35 goals against average and a .921 save % lifetime against Montreal.
Skanky Habs to watch - Kovy played like the Kovy of old against the Panthers. Make a hold your breath move, lose the puck, and give up on the play. Good times.
Skanky Caps to watch - meh, not too many. I told you, they're hot.
Dancing on stage tonight - no fucking clue. Carbo promised line-up changes yesterday but wouldn't say what. We'll update as the news rolls in during the day.
Post-game adult entertainment establishment - check out Archibald's. Their website says "if you can find the White House you can find Archibald's." I'm sure it was a favourite of Bill Clinton.
Alright let's hear your dirt dirty thoughts in the comments.

If the Habs win, please tell me we're not adhering to the Leafs/male strippers rule and putting "full-figured" strippers up until they lose. I'd hate to be the first ever person to block access to their own blog.
Would that be Ryder's last lap dance?
6 wins out of the last 33 road games played during the holidays...
Must be time for a trend change, again all we ask from those lazy bastards is to show up. If they do, the rest will fall in place by itself.
I completely agree with HF10.
While I always cheer for the Habs to lose I would hate to see what started out as a glorious opening to a game preview turn into nightmare fuel.
Not to worry everyone. Trust me, having to find that photo doing a Google Image search for "fat strippers" was painful enough. I do not want to repeat that experience.
Awesome picture.
@shmee - if by "awesome" you mean "totally hideous and nightmare-inducing", then sure!
Who-hoo! Ryder is sitting for Gimauve. And Huet officially gets the start. And Breezer is still locked in a St Leonard fan's trunk.
i want to buy that St Leo fan a beer
Poor Breeze-by...I was kind of hoping he'd be in there tonight.
I think ALL Caps fans were hoping he'd be in there tonight ;)
CC I think the rest of the league wants to see Breezer on the ice as much as possible
And every Habs fan seeks to Gilooly him. I have a standing offer for beers and lap dances to the Habs Fan who puts a merciful end to his career
HF29, as a lawyer I think you should know better than to encourage that kind of behaviour...at least publicly.
CC, I wouldn't wory about it, Ovechkin makes most d-men look like they're doing a Breezer impersonation anyway. I am still mesmerized by the greatest goal in NHL hisroty, that turniong on his back/stick behind his head goal he scored last year. Wow. Too bad he's going back to play in the Russian Superleague with Bob Goodenow when his NHL contract expires...
alright kids yours truly is off to his company xmas party so i won't be with you this evening. be nice to shmee and CC if they pop in. or just be embarassed when Ovechkin scores his 4 goals against us
I'm embarrassed to admit that Breezer has held a special place in my heart since his last go-round...I don't know why, it's not because of the way he plays.
panger76...hush. You're done now ;)
Bye Habsfan29! And don't worry - I bet Ovie only scores 3. The other will probably be Donald Brashear or something.
After watching this team for 33 games I have decided that the Habs are not a fast team. Most people talk about how the Habs should use their speed. But every passing game it appears evident that they are simply not that speedy. To me, speed is not just about how fast you can skate in a straight line. It is about acceleration. I have still yet to see either Kostitsyn blow by a guy out of a corner. Right now I only see two guys on the team who have this capability, Higgins and Plekanec...sometimes Koivu. Kovalev is not particuarly fast either, but he knows how to create room for himself, which is another talent I wish more of the players on our team had.
But in terms of speed, Beliveau was right, this team has absolutely no advantage, and as we saw on Tuesday night, and in the first period of this game, we often have a disadvantage.
At least Renaud Lavoie didn't ask Minister Bernier what is was like sitting next to Donald Brashear's mom.
Team 990 was polling listeners today about their pick for Habs Man of the Year. I was honestly stumped. I had no idea who to pick. Like trying to find the one guy at a star trek convention who's going to score the girl. Who would you vote for?
Matt, you're dead on. No explosive bursts. The only people on this team that are blowing by anyone are the players driving by traffic while getting head in the car. Booya.
HF33 - Ummmmm...How about Lafleur for teeling it like it is, and giving us some entertaining quotes?
Matt - I think Lafleur still has a couple of good lines up his nose, er..sleeve.
Little Tits is Lactating! WoooHOOOOO!
you can never relax when the Habs have the lead...
Nahhh, who wants a 3-goal lead? Douchebags.
I guess icing it 3 or 4 times in a row is some sort of strategy...?
HF29 is me asking for updates. I told him our site was hacked by Nordiques fans who are still whining about Kerry Fraser's call, and who renamed the blog, The Remaining Four Nords Fans. HF29 is rushing home.
Huet was really "Steckeled" on that play. Way to go Bou.
On to things that are TOTALLY unrelated.
WTF???? http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2007/12/20/pkg.seven.foot.boy.kima
Chipchura, my fav on this team. Love him and want to cuddle with him in the morning.
Someone take the guy who writes commercials for RDS and insert a giant sequoia up his ass. Leave it there.
Ugliness confirmed, and its all on our side. I hope a fat stripper sits on Victor Kozlov tonight.
wow. to come home at 230 AM and find we won and Guimauve scored 2??? just, wow.
and Little Tits with his 1st!!! awesome
That was about as unconvincing a 5-2 win as you can possibly get. Outshot 37 to 21? And through the first period the boys looked as terrible as in the previous game against the Panthers.
