"Ladies and gentlemen, on stage for your dancing pleasure, the Brooooons" - Game Preview and Open Thread

In honour of our Boston visitors and their short attention spans, let's hit the bullet points for the preview today. We've got a lot to cover, so let's see if we can break our own bullet point record.
  • 7:30 PM, Phone Booth;
  • Yours truly is putting his stellar 1-3 record seeing games live this year on the line. But I'm taking my mom, so that has to be good luck, right?
  • TSN-RDS HD double double;
  • Cover charge goes to Bruins Nation. How come there is no "Habs Nation"? Discuss;
  • Habs 5-0-0 against the Bruins this year;
  • Bruins 3-0-1 in their last 4;
  • I am standings-obsessed. Bruins just 3 points back of the Habs, nipping on our asses. Call this one a 4-point game, even if it's only January;
  • Michael Ryder has earned his way back to the old No. 1 line with Higgins and Koivu, something I have screamed for over the last week or two. Maybe "earned" is wrong. Maybe he was just lucky with Carbo's pulling names out of a hat line-up technique;
  • Let's hope it helps Koivu, who has no points and is -7 in his last 5 games;
  • Other lines at practice yesterday included Bégin-Smols-Little Tits and Guimauve-Lapierre-Kosto. Wow, I totally forgot about Bégin;
  • No official word on any goalie, but I feel comfortable saying Huet will start;
  • DOOM rules! Leads the league in blocked shots and is second in hits, and Pierre Maguire's man-crush on him knows no bounds;
  • Habs once-vaunted PP has slipped to second in the league and hasn't scored in 3 games;
  • Breezer has not just one, but TWO broken bones in his foot! Woohoo! OK, I admit I was responsible for one of them, but who did the other? I owe you a beer!
  • For the Bruins, All-Star Marc Savard has 8 points in his last 5 games;
  • Chuck Kobasew leads them with 17 goals. Who?
  • Looks like Patrice Bergeron is out for the season. I rarely feel bad for other team's fans, especially Bruins fans, but I do on this one. That just sucks;
  • Zdeno Chara has 6 points in his last 4 games. BOOOOOOOOOOOO. Sorry, was just practising for tonight.

K that'll do. Let's hear those dirty thoughts of your sick little minds in the comments.

turns out that we WON'T be booing together 29... Mr. LG77 threw out his back/neck at work today and I would rather watch the game on our big 'ol teevee at home with him.

Besides, I thoroughly enjoyed the cashola I got for our tix! :-)

Panger - you gunna be around tonight or are you too busy using that hamster tossing program I sent you?

LG i will boo twice as loud to make up for it

This is less a comment and more of an irrefutable truth:

Bruins suck.

Visiting from the other side, Alex Auld will be getting the start for the Bruins. Doesn't matter, we still won't win. :)

Here's to a good game tonight.

jaci! thx for popping in. just so you know, i go back and forth from WBF to Bruins Nation for Bruins games. damn you came on the wrong day!

the streak has to end sooner or later, and we suck at home, and I am a bad luck charm, so who knows

How come there is no "Habs Nation"?

Well, there's you guys, so they don't need a Habs Nation. Could a blog with a name like "Habs Nation" provide, um...what you do?I also agree with the assessment of habsfan10: Bruins suck.

You know, I might just create habsnation.blogspot.com and link it straight here. loser_domi's right, this more or less IS the Habs Nation.

LG, I'm so jealous of you. It's been almost 10 years since I've taken in a game a the Molson Centre (notice the name). To be able to just say "I don't feel like it tonight" is a luxury that I would love to have.

Hope Mr. LG feels better soon.

Awww...that's so sweet! I wish I could get drunk with my mom, but she doesn't really drink. I'll just drink with my brothers then (when I'm home.)

Well, I've seen worse starts.

New rule: All Montreal opponents must wear black and yellow when they visit.

Instant awesome home record for the Canadiens!

Love the site boys. And from an ex-pat living behind enemy lines (blue lines, if you get my meaning) it's great to read about all things Pro Habs.

4-1 so far against the meatheads. And it's only the end of the 1st! Sweet.

Baroque said...

Wow.

On versus, one of the announcers just called this an "annihilation."

fezworth said...

Holy Shit is all I can say.

@29... You have the habs and strippers... two staples of Montreal. Who else has that?

Crosby will be jealous of this change in McGuire's affections.

@fezworth - Yeah, I realize what kind of a luxury it is. I put my name on the waiting list for tix in the greys when I got sworn in a few years ago... And when they offered them to me this year, I couldn't say no.

Besides, my grandfather said that he was prouder of me the day that I got my tix than the day I passed the Bar. I think he's got a point... LOL

That being said, Mr. LG77 definitely appreciates the fact that I came home tonight, and he'd better 'cause... HOLY FUCK! It's like Christmas! Can we play the Broons every night?? Pretty please??

And if we keep smacking them around like this, do they eventually start to spill candy? We're treating them like pinatas, so it's only fitting!!

Did we chicken wing in record time tonight?

lawyergirl77 said...

What in the holy ever loving FUCK was that call on Greek Lightning and, more importantly, the non-call on the asshole Broon who re-injured Bégin?? CÂLICE DE TABARNAK!!!

If them's the rules, then it's good to know that hitting from behind after the player got rid of the puck is totally fine, but that being a man and standing up for your teammate, oh ho, that gets you an instigator and a game misconduct.

Yeah... i get it now.

Fuckers. You go Greek Lightning.

my grandfather said that he was prouder of me the day that I got my tix than the day I passed the Bar.

That is SO Montreal. I love it!

To be fair, there were a few missed calls on the Habs earlier on... Savard had his stick held, and a lot of refs would have called Sergei for that butt-on-knee hit, and I think there were a couple others. It's hard to remember because my short-term memory is filled up with all those Habs goals.

Loser Domi said...

holy crap! Bruins Curbstomped! I'm ok with that

lawyergirl77 said...

Greek Lightning came out in skates and shorts and chucked two sticks out into the crowd when he was first star.

I have a new crush...

HabsFan29 said...

OK new rule. All home games against the Broons and HF29 gets drunk with Mom of HF29 before the game!

woohoo!!! what atmosphere

I will make one observation. I heard the EARLIEST "na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye" chant EVER. 10 seconds left in the 2nd. I was not happy at that moment. but, whatever.

HabsFan29 said...

PS LG, the crowd went NUTS when Kosto did that! it was awesome

Habsfan10 said...

29, congratulate your Mom. She just earned herself a permanent seat beside you for every game!

Hoorah, Mrs 29!

I only saw parts of the game, but it was glorious. Loved the dazed look on Julien's face as he staggered off at the end. Him and his thug team can piss off til March.

Bruins suck.

lawyergirl77 said...

@29 - damn, I'm so mad I missed it... He has now become one of my favourite players. I'm watching his Franglais interview on rds.ca and it's cracking me up.

I heart you Greek Lightning!! I seriously think I have a massive crush now.

lawyergirl77 said...

@29 - your mom can have my tix next time I can't go to the game!! LOL

@10 - I felt really bad for Julien. He doesn't deserve the shit he's going through...

Habsfan10 said...

LG, I used to like Julien until he started running out the goons every time the Habs opened up a two goal lead.
