Talk about karma. Just donated and gave up meat.
Donation: check.Let's hope this tragedy at the very least gets the world to take a close look at Haiti and its need for help beyond the quake and its victims. My favourite quote from BGL on the Haiti quake:"Is it selfish for me to be here playing hockey when there are people down there I could help? If someone's stuck under a house, I'm strong enough to get them out."Can't you just picture him lifting up a house while workers rescue people from underneath.
Not to belittle the Big Man, or his honourable intentions, but isn't his back supposed to be fucked up?Seriously though, the most useful thing he could do would be sending money and encouraging others to do the same.
I'm worried our new scoring machine is actually going to go to Haiti to help. We need him scoring! Put him with Squid and Pleks!
Why is it always the case, everywhere, that good people who get fucked in the bum by their 'Governments' also tend to get screwed by mother nature?SumatraPhillipinesHaitiSichuanBangladeshNew Orleans (Those 'southern' types, as they say in trendy Manhattan restos.)Myanmar (Burma)etc.Good for Georges and we should take in as many Haitians as we can fit if they need help, that's Canada. Plus they have way better food than our Kraft shit, and better music than Rush, even that song about the maples being jealous of the oaks.So everybody wins.LoveJHK
Any stats fans in the audience. Just scrolled through this Price vs Halak debate Reads a bit like a textbook
How dare you insult Rush Jeff! Neal Peart is the greatest drummer of ALL-TIMEother than that, good to hear from ya! good point about the governments. sad though@Sleepy - i tried reading that Price v Jaro post when it came out, gave up about 10% of the way in when my head exploded
Don't get me wrong, I like Rush, but when the most charismatic member of your rock group is the drummer you have problems.
@ SleepyI am an economist. This is published every month - he is freaking awesome.
speaking of Rush and great drummers, Peart taped a new version of HNIC for TSN.; I've seen blurbs, he is AWSOME (and I'm more into guitarists)
I. Hate. Rush. Although I do think it's cool that Gary Lee Weinrib and I could be related
@Sleepy -yeah, that guy must be crazed - reads like a doctoral dissertation each month. The graphs showing shot location for each goal are mind blowing. To summarize his point for the impatient/exploding head crowd: Jaro pley reel, reel good versis skanky teems. Jaro not pley mutch aginst good teams.Price needs to play like God if he wants to win, because his oponents are mostly really good and the Habs, not so much. Mostly he does play like God, except when he does shit like turning high misses into off-the-back goals with his sloppy glove work. Or other marshmallow crap like that. The Habs would win more games if they scored more goals and didn't allow so many shots. Both goalies are really, pretty good, so stop fucking whining about it.[end summary]
JHK: Well, shitty governments help to exacerbate problems when natural disasters. You know, like those levees that worked so well in New Orleans or the high quality of housing structures in Haiti. For some Friday fun:Name all the players who have played at least a game for us over the past five seasons!
you guyz aren't turning this site into another HIO Price-vs-Halak obsession right?
@hfotwc - now that's just insulting
@ Boob:"when the most charismatic member of your rock group is the drummer you have problems"Phil Collins? (Ok, bad example)Keith Moon? Someone tell me they liked Daltrey, Townsend or Entwistle more than Keith Freaking Moon. Impossible. Rick Allen? I guess only having one arm is more intriging than charismatic. I'd add Stewart Copeland too, just because Sting has turned into such a pretentious jackwad. (Ducks whatever HF29 is planning on throwing).
oh no. despite my personal connection to Sting (such as it is), i agree 100% he's a pretentious jackwad
@HF10Not to mention Bonzo Bonham - who was the only member of his band who actually had a personality, let alone charisma. But I didn't actually mean "charismatic" - maybe a better way to put it would have been "when the drummer is the musical leader of the group you have a problem ..."(with apologies to Buddy Rich and Jack DeJohnette.)
@ Boob:I was going to mention Bonham, but I'm still bitter at all the people who played bootleg thirty minute versions of Moby Dick in highschool at their parties trying to convince me of his greatness. Point taken on the whole "drummer as leader". Although once in a drunken state I managed to convince myself that Dave Grohl was really masterminding Nirvana and that emo Cobain kid was just along for the ride.
Charlie Watts bitches!
Watching last night's game reminded me of the wrongness of Team Canada selecting guys like Morrow and Mike Richards but leaving out Brad Richards and St.Louis. The latter are the 3rd and 5th ranked Canadians among goal scorers this year, and they've won the Stanley Cup playing together.Add to that Chris Pronger's selection (a player both detestable and past his best), and I'd cheer for Russia - if only they had selected our Kovy to play with the Atlanta Kovy.
Calvin Weston, Tony Williams, Airto Moreira, Jack DeJohnette, Paul Motian ... Look'em up. Mr Peart can't touch any of those guys.
good choice moe!!!here's the proo.f WARNING: FUCKING LOUD
apparently i enjoy putting periods in the middle of words
@Boob: Just thank God that you're not an American. I really don't think I can bring myself to cheer for a team built by Burke and featuring Komi and Timmy Thomas as two of the cornerstones.I'll probably root for Finland and Jaro.
kc, you can root for kessel.
Hell, I'm American and I'm rooting for Russia - Pavel Datsyuk and Alex Ovechkin are two of my favorite players, I still have a soft spot for Sergei Fedorov, and I think it would be wonderful to see them win a gold medal. :)(Although a friend thinks I have the ulterior motive of wanting to see Don Cherry's head actually explode for real on television when Russia gets the gold on Canadian soil (ice?))
The guy who uploaded that video to YouTube clearly knows nothing about Big Georges. He's been celebrating goals like that for as long as I can remember, going back to at least when he started with the Oilers ten years ago, because they've always been so rare. That was his schtick long before it was Ovechkin's.
