BURKE IS ELATED, DOES BALKI DANCE OF JOY

Smiling, from earlobe to earlobe.

Toronto GM is doing the Balki dance of joy today after having acquired Dion Phaneuf for the hockey equivalent of the original XBOX console.

Don't start with the Gainey's asleep talk now folks, because Burkie just made a fool out of 28 other GMs (yup, the one in Calgary included).

A few years back, when asked who he prefered between Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin, Burke replied: "Dion Phaneuf".

Amazing that in this league, a guy's value could plummet so easily. Phaneuf has ONE BAD HALF SEASON and he's trade bait for nothing in return. Fuck that, big tip of my hat to the Leafs who at the very least know how to make things interesting. Now if their players actually start playing to potential, Montreal's going to have some company soon. But it'll be the come and go type.

Pacioretty just scored with the Bulldogs.

I don`t know if it`s a mistake but D`Ags is not listed as a player tonight... Strange. Maybe Burke acquired him to replace some of his offense.

Nevermind, he`s been recalled by the Habs... Ugh.

Ha! @ the Dion tag.

Smarter bloggers everywhere--OK, the Oilers ones, but they really do have the smartest bloggers-- have been on the Phaneuf is over-rated bandwagon for some time now. Even conceding that they're biased, I think they've got a point.
Plus, who the fuck is going to play forward for the Leafs? They sucked up front already, and they traded away an entire line.

(You guys are the best bloggers, of course. Smarts aren't everything. Not everyone needs Baysian staistical analysis in order to enjoy hockey.)

I'm more worried about the arrival of a french goalie in the Northeast. That's 6 games a year we'll never win.

Phaneuf will be good for the Leafs... but he's sucked for a year and a half... not only half a season.
