The Morning Skate for Thursday, January 21st

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of a $32 million severance payment...
  • Well you can look at the Habs OT loss two ways: 1. A glorious comeback to earn a well-deserved point, spurned on by the CHicken and TFS' emotion; or 2. continuing death spiral. Your choice;
  • Brodeur, shutout, ho-hum;
  • Oilers continue death spiral of their own, lose to the Nucks.
Drop the gloves, Carey!

I might have to turn in my Habs fan membership card for saying this, but I actually don't think Jansen did anything wrong. It was good to see Price actually give a shit about something, though.

Also, I hate, just fucking hate, watching hockey with American announcers (nationalism be damned). There's just something about the American sports announcer way of speaking that is offsetting in hockey.

imo I think it was a clean hit; by TFS, and Jansen left his feet.

@Orange
Couldn't agree more about the American announcers. I'd rather listen in any other language. Must be especially annoying when you mix those voices with the screams of
children stabbing/being stabbed with scissors.

It seems like last night was emblematic of the in my entire adult life (since '93). Fresh start, suckage, glimer of hope, suckage, desperation, reason to believe!, then ending in disapointment. I never thought that I would say this but... how's the draft lookin' this year??
Sorry for the lack of pithy comentary or humor.

That said, (nationalism aside) I have to watch most Habs game on the visitor feed because of Centre Hice. Some announcers are much better that others. Worst= Boston and Washington
Best = Buffalo

@orange. I am siding with you on the Jansen hit. He did leave his feet but it looked, to me, as if he was trying to not kill TFS. I think Hammer did right by NOT letting Jansen go. TFS = heart on that play, then he pooched the final shot of the game... *opens a beer at 9am, while crying*

what's with McSplooge having a hard on for the Vegan? was St. Loui's tough guy a factor lastnight?

wv: rescal, as in, TFS was such a little rescal on that play.

Fell asleep after the Blues 3rd goal (blame the 2004 Rosenblum Zinfandel) and caught the express version later. Our Habs shouldn't be as bad as their last half-dozen games but methinks opposing coaches are outcoaching The Count. Also, Count, you live and work in Montreal, get some nicer suits.

O'B as winger? Really? It's time to resurrect my favourite all-time FHF tag:
'Streit and Dandenault being less than average defensemen does not make them first line forwards Carbonneau you monumental asswipe"

Now BGL can go to Haiti to help out and not feel bad about abandoning his team. Win-win situation.

I'm going with continuing death spiral

How dumb was Conklin to cross center and not do anything. In for a penny in for a pounding.

He got a penalty for having a better view of the action.

I haven't been paying attention (hangs head in shame) but I saw an injury list for the Habs that had little tits out for the season. Is that right??

LOL Pang's colour commentary is the ultimate in whine. And I love our new goalie enforcer. Sorry BGL, you're fired.

What's infuriating of this team is if they had played all game the way they played from the 5-on-3 kill/3rd period IT WOULDN'T HAVE SUCKED SO MUCH. This stupid team plays so horrible early that our goalies can't get comfy and it takes something like that to semi-wake them, then not, then wait half the game to do something. (Or they do it in reverse so they come out awesome and then hang the goalies out to dry). Gah!

I wanna coach the Habs already.
