So given the Habs have only beaten the Sens once this year, and our last game was a 6-1 disaster loss, we're going with a new format tonight. It's the paragraph that never ends! The game starts at 7:30 at the Phone Booth. It's on Sportsnet East (HF10, do you get that?). It's for first place in the division. By my calculations Habs could be 1st, 2nd, 4th or 5th in the East by the end of tonight. Of the 11 games the Habs and Sens have left, three are against each other. Oy. Habs are 6-4 in their last 10 and coming off their biggest win of the year. Sens coming off a nice solid win over the B's and starting to put the fear in their enemies again since the Kings disaster. Our internet BFF SLC of Five for Smiting has Darth Gerber as a big reason, being handed the official #1 goalie title and playing like it. Did you know Alex Kovalev has 73 points? I didn't. Hey, a real point getter on the Habs! In fact, Habs and Sens tied for the league lead in goals for. Captain K is good for a point per game over the last dozen or so. Price is obvioulsy hot after his Devils shutout. Heatley has 5 points in the last 2 games, Spezza has 3. Alfie may be back tonight, no one knows. Bégin is questionable, still no word on the Habs line-up. Die, Breezer, Die! If the Habs win, celebrate at Chez Parée. Only the classiest place for a classy win. If they lose, get drunk and turn on Channel 213 on Videotron after midnight.
Man that hurt my head to write, I'm sure it was unpleasant to read. See you in the comments!

Gah! No comments yet and it'S 4:00!!!
GO HOCKEY!!
@LG: aren't you a freekin lawyer ? we expected an intervention on the previous post !
I think the first five minutes will be very important. Habs have to set the pace of the game. They have to keep the Sens of the scoresheet very early on.
From the Sens homepage:
The Senators might get a big game-time boost tonight. Captain Daniel Alfredsson took part in the full pre-game skate, and said afterward there’s a good possibility he could return to the lineup after missing the last five games while dealing with muscle spasms in his back.
However, it’ll be a game-time decision.
“It felt pretty good,” said Alfredsson. “I’m not going to make a decision until tonight, but obviously it’s good to be back on the ice skating with the guys.
“We’ll see how it feels tonight. If it doesn’t feel worse, I’ll probably play.”
Ahhh what the fuck eva. Go Habs go!
Go Hockey. And go TFS(tm)!
to paraphrase halak: first place is for men teams, ottawa are woman team.
go hockey, everyone.
Not much ado with tonight's game, since I don't he's playing and hasn't come handy in while anyway, but I just realised that 'Handy Dandy' is actually a song by Bob Dylan.
Third verse starts with:
'Handy dandy, he got a stick in his hand and a pocket full of money'
Weird.
On Sportsnet East ... oh the excitement, until one realizes that it will STILL BE BLACKED OUT IN SOUTHERN ONTARIO.
So glad I pay for all those Sportsnet channels only to see every game not involving Toronto blacked out, whether the fucking Leafs are playing or not. Like the entire province of Ontario is going to see a random Canucks/Coyotes game at 10:00 pm on a Tuesday and then no one will tune in to Joe Fucking Holy Mackinaw Bowen and Fucking Harry Neale for the Leafs game the next night? Fucking stupidity. I need to figure out a way to convince Expressvu to give me RDS, TSN and the Score (EPSN College Gameday!) and NOT Sportsnet. Frankly, any organization that pays Mike Fucking Toth a salary deserves to be mocked and possibly driven into bankruptcy.
Oh, and go hockey.
@HF10 - Please let the Internet help you:
http://myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=8220&part=sports
zwirb, I thank you. Many a time I've tried to watch online ... it just seems asinine to have to resort to it when I pay good f'in money for the privilege of sitting in front of my tv to watch and can't because of some misguided, probably CRTC imposed blackout restriction.
Fuck Sportsnet. And, go hockey.
sportsnet sucks anyway....
I can't understand a fuckn thing on RDS and I absolutley love it.
that is a lie, I 'm actually learning some french..all because of the Habs. They have actually made me a better person.
@ SLD: I think the habs made us all better people. Remember the 1993 stanley cup riots ?
@montréaliste1: I do, I do! (I'll date myself here, but bear with me, please).
I was on a grade 8 class trip to La Belle Province. For a bunch of Saskatoon kids, Montreal was a revelation. We took in a fantastic Expos game at the Big O, the night of the '93 riots. As we walked down Blvd René Lévesque O. towards our hostel that night, it was pandemonium. The sound was like a thousand car alarms going off all around us, and I can't even describe what the people were like. I saw two young man running past us, stupid happy grins on their faces, carrying a stop sign. It's funny; to this day, I wonder where they got it from.
Anyhoo... that's the night I became a habs (and hockey) fan. Greatest formative sports experience of my life.
@ Fez: Look at yourself today. Needless to say more, point proven !
P.s. What a fucking great timing to vist MTL !!
Hang on... what I just described might never have happened. Can someone confirm this for me? I am certain we went to an Expos game the night of the Cup win... but if the Cup win was on June 9th, the bloody expos weren't playing at home that night. Is this a manufactured memory? Have I been cheated out of my best hockey story?
The Expos played the Reds at home on June 9, 1993: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Montreal_Expos_season#Game_log
Your memory is safe!
I dunno Fez, but I was at the game in '93, and my mom and I drove around on De Maisonneuve after the game with Kid Mercury (Okay, now I'm really dating myself - he's the dude who used to play trumpet in the stands at the Forum) in our convertible.
Mercifully, we didn't get killed or injured, and neither did our car. But we sure had fun!!
Oh and Montréaliste - I may be a lawyer, but I'm also a very good lawyer in that I know when to STFU when a post is funny enough in and of itself. :)
Well, that, and I really don't give a shit about the Guimauve either way.
And 'cause it can't be said enough - go hockey!
Go Sonia - bustin' out the Wiki-Fu!!!
Merci Sonia! That makes me feel a lot better.
Wow, attendance at the Expos game of 11,157? Emmm... no. I think we were the only people in the stadium. And I don't remember who was playing, because they had the Habs game up on the jumbotron, so nobody was watching the baseball.
@LG: Fun was had by all, except the people trying to navigate the intersection that was missing a stop sign.
@Fez - did the Habs win the cup during the game? If so, that might have been fun to watch the players get all confused as the Big Owe went bonkers over something that had NOTHING to do with their game...
LOL... I'm afraid I can't remember. To be honest, I was always one of the geeky kids, didn't think much about sports. I spent a good portion of the game just trying to figure out how baseball worked. I wish I had realised at the time that I was witnessing history.
If memory serves though, the cup was won shortly after the expos game ended, so we were already on the metro, or on the street. It's all a bit fuzzy.
I miss the 1$ hot dog games... And Pedro, and Rondell. wtf... go hockey.
Yes...Go Hockey indeed...
*insert foreboding Star Wars theme music here*
Dum...Dum...Dum...Dum-DA-Dum, Dum-DA-Dum...
Fez, that 11,000 and change number might have been the season tickets base. 29 and I once had free tix to a late September Marlins/Expos tilt on a Thursday afternoon ... announced attendance 4,000 ... actual attendance less than 200.
I was at the Jays game the night Carolina and the Leafs went to game 7 of the conference final ... as the silly promo girl announced some giveaway, the Leafs scored to tie it late in the third and the place went crazy. Poor woman didn't have a clue what was going on. Then when the 'Canes won in overtime, the boos started raining down. Can't imagine what the players on the field were thinking.
Hi, SLC! Glad you could stop by. We were just going over the blueprints for this Death Star Brian Murray built ... seems there's a few weak spots.
Helloooo everyone! The drinks are flowing freely. Fuck I'm nervous.
@10 - I remember that game. Weren't we on the jumboltron like 5 times cause no one else was there?
Maybe HF10, but unless Big Tits can fly his puck through the crack of Gerber's ass, it may not do you any good.
Inside Voice: Well THERE's the first statement you've made tonight that will probably come back to bite you in the ass...idiot.
7:29pm...LET'S GET IT ON!
Breezer healthy scratch. WOOOOOOOO!!
The Captain WILL play.
So...um...how 'dem nerves there, 29?
Seriously guys, I haven't been this jazzed over a regular season game in years.
JUST DROP THE FUCKING PUCK ALREADY!!
29, that was indeed the game. Good times. I miss Les Expos.
@SLC - heart palpatations. where's my nitroglycerine? or meth, i'll take some meth.
I'm as proud of our soldiers as much as the next guy, but I agree with SLC DROP THE FUCKING PUCK ALEREADY
The CF members are there courtesy of Habs' season ticket holders donating their tickets.
BRAVO Montreal!
Here we go...
holy shit 14 SH goals. almost had another...
man with the West Coast trip and my trip to Austin, seems like I haven't watched a game in weeks.
The Captain - Fish - Stillman
Hmmm...me likey!
SLC Bryan has some sharp line combos. I'd talk trash but my meth habit i've developed in the last 10 minutes is making it hard to think clearly
I'd like to take a second to say this is a LOST SPOILER-FREE ZONE. The PVR is working, gonna watch after the game. unlike other game threads, this one is too important to watch anything else
Fuckity fuck fuck
29, just keep staring at the pretty colours and everything will be fine. Or so I've been told...
SPEZZA!! WOOT!
man this game is just flying by. or maybe it's the meth
high speed hockey. it's like it's the Western conference!
FUCKING BLOGGER
something about PP's and meth. it was good
Message I found on my Blogger dashboard (after 10 futile minutes trying to post a witty retort to 29)
...Scheduled outage at 5:00PM PDT.
Who...THE FUCKITY FUCK schedules "maintenance" at prime fucking time?!?! I'm half tempted to move to Wordpress...seriously. FUCK!
alright Blogger behave yourself here in the 2nd
oh FUCK that was fast. weird bounce
ooooh replay!
Damn! Missed it. Temporarily mesmerized by Mike Holmes...
Um...SPEZZA!!... Woot?
I think Lapointe may want to try hitting shorter opponents...
Hmm... this is not the glorious victory I imagined earlier today. In fact, the Sens appear to be getting to every puck first.
this is not going well
@fez: Carbs obviously didn't get the Bruins' memo...
minor signs of life from Kovy, but this PP is going nowhere
went nowhere
All. Hope. Lost.
Ooh maybe I can switch to Lost...
Verms! Spec-fuckin'-tacular!
HF29: Or...heroine?
K so the Devils were our old nemesis now it's the Sens.
we need to change our luck. transsexual strippers?
Um...no thanks. Might upset the Blueshirts...
Speaking of which...the Rangers game is too fresh in my mind to allow me to be completely comfortable here...
is this game over yet? we may never score again in my lifetime.
where's my meth? AND a PP. 4 minutes. feh. mercy! mercy!
The Senators or a lifetime of jaundice?
I'll take the yellow skin.
Hey 33! Haven't had a chance, until now, to say "great job" on the BlogTalk show! Maybe next time we'll get to do a show with a more...um...sober panelist...
So apparently the Habs need to have one team that always fucking kills them?
Remember when the Habs were that team for EVERYONE ELSE?
Sometimes blacked-out games aren't the worst thing in the world.
SLC don't bring up the blogradio. the heavy breathing haunts my dreams
Didn't see the 1st, but it seems like there were too many guys trying to be the hero tonight. I get it, you can skate. Ummm...shoot the damn puck! 3rd period is pretty boring.
So...Kelly takes the elbow...has the welt to prove it...and Schube is the only guy to go off. Ooookaaaay...
thank god that's over
we concede the East? yeesh
And order has now been restored to the Universe. Well...to the Eastern Conference. Um...at least for the next 48 hours.
Damn...I need a drink.
p.s.: @HF33...tell me about it.
*p.s.: @HF29...jackass
SLC didn't mean anything by it! i told you im on meth
and I don't even know what I said. help me SLC, im very sensitive!
Don't you worry about it, 29. SLC's a big boy. He can take it. Besides, people say crazy things when they see their team get their asses handed to them at home. It sure would be nice to see what SLC would say to us if the Habs could ever return the Sens evil evil asskicking. To continue the theme from earlier, is this the point where we're hanging off the bottom of Bespin, one arm missing, best friend encased in carbonite, allies scattered to the four winds while SLC strolls through the galaxy crushing throats for fun?
(Good thing I'm married ... that little geek-out must have sent our female readers scurrying).
SLC you did an awesome job on the radio show. It was a bit hard to get any thoughts across after Dudley Moore and the gang took over.
made a shitty day and a bad mood even worse. it's 9:30 and im going to bed to forget this day forever
