We may not have settled on a nickname yet, but damn we sure love Big Georges Laraque. A mere seven seconds into his first shift he gets into a fight. I really enjoy the way NESN throws up the Tale of the Tape for a fight. Do they do that all the time? That's one advantage they have over RDS.

the tale of the tape is nice. it was also nice of Thornton to let BGL get up and continue mauling him.
you may not get the tale of the tape on RDS, but at least you don't have Jack Edwards head exploding every time a fight breaks out. Pretty sure he had no voice by the end of this game.
As a Habs fan living in New England, Jack Edwards drives me KA-RAZY. It's a miracle every time I make it through a Habs-Bruins game without shattering my TV screen.
Edwards is terrible, but he's nowhere near as bad as Dale Arnold who makes Don Cherry look like Scotty Bowman. Arnold was the biggest homer (you can probably tell i don't know french by that statement) and in typical B's fashion would always blame any misfortune of the broons on either the refs or the dirty play of the opposing team.
I'd prefer the RDS feed over NESN on Center Ice, I hate those Boston announcers. When the broons tied it late in the third the announcer WITHOUT the horrible ignorant accent screams "Where are the ghosts now!!!!!" Totally classless. Someone should remind him what happened when Raycroft mocked the ghosts back during the 2004 playoffs.
Yeah, that's why i pointed out that I was only thinking of it based on a derision of his name...upon further reflection I realized for that reason which you state it may be construed as such...
Maybe Laraque or "La Rock" just doesn't need a nic.

The worst Boston announcer though was Derek Sanaderson and whoever his partner was in the early 90s. Brutal.
Back to Laraque, I'm hoping a tale of the tape is ready for tomorrow night's game. Laraque against McGratton. The rest of the game won't even matter.
Getting back to Laraque's nickname, and this sounded good in my mind at first, because it has only to do with his name:
George Laraque
Geor La
Gorilla
GMFL.
I know we have Patrice "fucking" Brisebois. But if for Laraque, it would have a totally different meaning.
George "Motherfuckin'" Laraque.
La Rock.
Edwards is the man, Boston is lucky to have a guy that cares that much about the team...

Gorgeous Georges Laraque!
@ LD: "Gorilla" is boderline racist.

I've been calling Laraque "Big Black Laraque" for years... being black, I never had problems with that...can't we all just get along?
