HF29's in-depth review of attending the draft live
There's three hours of my life I'm not getting back.
And I never even met the PPP gang. What a total waste of an evening.
Oh yeah, Louis Leblanc, bla bla bla hometown boy, bla bla bla.

The Four Habs Fans are four Habs fans. Three are from Montreal, though one of those is now stuck in the middle of the Red Mile. The other somehow grew up a Habs fan in the middle of Ontario Cottage Country, and now lives in Hogtown. They are all lawyers, so they are opinionated, and may or may not be assholes. HabsFan29 and HabsFan4 used to share season tickets (in the whites, they're not rich lawyers) so they could see the Habs suck in the flesh. But now that the Habs may be good, we've given up the tix. We can't deal with success.
HabsFan4 pays tribute to one of the finest gentlemen to ever don a Canadiens sweater. His legacy as one of the pioneers of the Gangsta Rap movement has always been understated.
HabsFanForever33 aka Panger is a Montrealer in Exile currently residing mere blocks from the Red Mile, yet whose passion for all things Canadiens has only embiggened with distance. HFF33 worships at the altar of St. Patrick. Panger still gets chills recalling the moment he met the greatest goal-scorer of all time, The Rocket. HFF33 is a life-long Habs fan, except during the Houle-Tremblay Era, when Le Club de Hockey Canadiens was dead to Panger .
HabsFan10 grew up watching Le Demon Blond on Radio-Canada with his unilingual English Dad in a WASPy little town in Maple Leafs country, at least until the playoffs each year, when he got to hear Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin because the Leafs played on opposite nights (if they made the playoffs at all). Rick Middleton and Cam Neely sometimes haunt his dreams. He thinks Thurso, Quebec should be declared a national historical site. If you aren't sure what the 10 in HF10 stands for, you're on the wrong site, buster.

It's a safe bet that as long as this franchise feels and succumbs to the pressure to hire French Canadian coaches and draft French Canadian players, we're fucked. Though I've tired of them drafting American high school students, I really felt Chris Kreider was the BPA at #18. But hey, we'll have a smart guy to play in the 'A' for a number of years. That's good. Go Crimson.
The fact that attending an NHL draft is actually boring is the best-kept secret in the NHL. You sit around for 10 minutes before a pick is made, and then after the announcement, wait another 10 minutes.
It was probably worse last night because of no trades.
I went to the draft here in Ottawa last here. I left after pick #10.
I will hate Chris Pronger even more now that he's a Flyer.
I will hate the Flyers even more with Pronger on their team.
Leblanc was projected to go between 12 and 17, so its not like they picked a 3rd rounder. If you can't choose between two guys there's nothing wrong with going for the local. I believe the Wild did that as well last night.
As for the coaching, I believe the french thing is bullshit, but again, Babs, the sly fox got around it by picking the best possible candidate.
And to be fair, in the post pick interview LL did say he was only expecting to stay at Harvard "a year or two" before playing in the NHL. I dare say a jump directly from Harvard and their 20 game schedule (or whatever it is) is unlikely, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
And even though her brother's a fucking Leaf now, I thought Kadri's sister (i assume) looked pretty hot. Got that ethnic look going for her you know. Is that PC to say? Probably not eh.
Hey, there's a great reason to attend the draft:
To pelt rotten eggs, tomatoes, and whatever else you've got lying around the kitchen, at that insufferable dwarf, Gary Bettman.
If this report is true, and that little pile of smegma interfered with the Lecavalier trade, he'll be less loved in Canada than Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:

I'm so glad they picked him. Now I will soon have connection with a habs prospect. He went to school and is friends with guys i work with so I'm gonna try to arrange a little motivational chat with him.
Is Brian Burke ten or something with his whole our-fans-are-better-than-yours shit?
Also, I didn't see a single MILF but there were some hot sister/girlfriends there.
The PPP gang cannot keep any effing plans. SHEITTTTTTT.
If Bettman really intervened in a potential Lecavalier to Montreal trade, that is a breech of ethics.
As commissioner he should not be taking sides. He probably told Tampa the league (i.e. Canadian fans) would cover their losses.
Could we organize some sort of protest using the internet? If those Iranian kids can stand up to the mullahs ...
I like Nattinen's size and skill set, but Jesus Christ is he an ugly motherfucker.
You know what? The most interesting thing about Leblanc that i read is the fact that he played on a line with this year's #3 pick and a probable #1 pick in next year's draft... and he totally didn't look out of place.
It's time we draft some local boys -- French, English... Martian for all I care -- who bleed red, white and blue...
He's not as ugly as Lucic and TSN says Joonas #36 has a smooth stick.
@ moeman
Saying he's not as ugly as Lucic is like saying he's less annoying than Avery. Says he plays like Jordan Staal... I could definitely get used to that.
Lower down on the page, Carolina's pick Philippe Boucher is said to have the same style as Max Pacioretty. Huh? Patches is already a model for other players' styles?
Detroit GM Ken Holland doesn't think he has the cap space to sign Hossa.
Smart man that Ken Holland.
Where the fuck were you!?!?
