The traveling circus comes home - Sens Game Preview and Open Thread

Drug dealers, Tits, and the mob. Kovy's Bob-ordered timeout for "rest and reflection". A team that has won 3 of its last 15 games, including the just-concluded 1-4-1 road trip. The Habs' circus has come home to meet the Montreal media circus, for the afternoon opener of CBC's cash grab celebration of our national pastime, Hockey Day in Canada. Let's hit the bullet points to try and sort this one out:
  • 3 PM start at the Bell Centre, on CBC as mentioned;
  • Habs have taken all 3 games from the Sens this year. Jinx!
  • Habs are fighting for their playoff lives, while Ottawa is now at the top of the East also-rans, and there may still yet be hope, especially as they've gone 5-2-2 with the new coach;
  • With our eternal man-love for internet BFF SLC of Five for Smiting, we often omit other great Sens bloggers, like the artist formerly known as Sherry and DHS over at Scarlett Ice;
  • Kovy will be back on the ice, with the all of a sudden hot Mob-lover Big Tits (5 points over the last 2 games) and Pleks (4 in 2);
  • Jaro will get the start;
  • At 7:30 in the morning it's hard to find out any other line up notes. Update these yourself in the comments, okay?
  • Will Tangy ever play again? And Alfie is out thanks to a puck to the face;
  • For your post-game adult entertainment, thank the Sens for (re-)acquiring Mike Comrie, giving them a 1-2 WAG punch of Hillary Duff and Carrie Underwood that any team in any league would kill for (lap dance to gillis for pointing that out).
Yours truly got lucky with a friend's corporate season tix, so I'll be seeing the circus in person. Look for me in the awesome / sacrilegious / evil half-half Habs jersey. First one to spot me in the comments wins a prize, like a line of coke or something.

I hope all the habs will be "Chez Parée bound" after this game. Oh well, uh no, not really actually... I mean, I don't know, I'm confused...

Hahaha @ the half-half jersey. Cue HF29 being featured in Puck Daddy's 'Jersey Fouls' in 3..2..1..

GO PANTS!

(word verif: patron. Is Blogger making a (mob)boss joke, or a drink recommendation?)

Grrrreg said...

Oh no, not this jersey again! Do I have to remind you how things went last time you mentioned it?

[a href="http://fourhabsfans.blogspot.com/2008/11/mr-hf29-goes-to-washington-caps-3-habs.html"]Not very well.[/a]

2nd try

That jersey is just so wrong.

gillis said...

I saw somebody at a game once with that same jersey. Maybe it was you. I doubt it.

I just noticed that my name is in the post. sweet. I'm famous.

I've come up (pun intended) with a one word descriptor for the media circle of jerks' latest self-flagellation;

Habukkake

Habukkake.
It's god damn beautiful.

copyranter said...

Habukkake is disgustingly apt.

Happy Hockey Day, FHF.

HabsFan29 said...

alright kids i'm off to check out the habukkake in person. this may get ugly

lawyergirl77 said...

Am at the game. It's fucking quiet in here.

lawyergirl77 said...

Big cheer for Kovy in pre-game presentation. Nice to see Max-PAC and Schneider on screen too.

Why are we wearing white jerseys??

lawyergirl77 said...

Kovy, I stand corrected. Maybe you do have something left in the tank. Now keep it up!

Question: is re crowd ole oleing out of relief at a two goal lead or do they genuinely think that this is something to celebrate.

HabScot said...

What did they put in Kovalev's coffee before this game??

Verification: petrat. I never had a pet rat.

lawyergirl77 said...

Wow. How is it Higgy's penalty when he gets crosscuecked FOUR fucking times in a shift??

lawyergirl77 said...

Uh. I meant crossckecked. Stupid iPhone...

Crosschecked? :)

What's it going to take for Montreal to get another powerplay? I've seen two hits from behind now, and no calls.

Tom said...

What's the point of an energy fight that is dull?

lawyergirl77 said...

Not sure whether it was an energy fight, but I was cringng at the thought of Dandy damaging his arm. Guy's got more heart than brains...

And thanks Anon... I just gave up when I saw that it was spelled badly a second time. *hangs head in shame*

cottoneye said...

I'm pleased with Kovalev's goal, but what pleases me even more is the great play he made during the PK. Yay Kovy!

UKHab said...

It's been said before, but a Kovalev putting effort in is as good as making a trade. I feared for Dandy's arm when that fight started but I needn't have, there was no danger of him actually getting a punch in.

lawyergirl77 said...

I guess it makes sense that Kovy would respond well today. The Artiste is such a freaking drama queen - he must have hated the fact that the Tits drama detracted from. His soap opera so he's trying to re-write the script.

South Shore Habs Fan said...

Okay, I could SWEAR I saw Ruutu trying to bite Dandy's elbow!

Also - has Koivu seemed really tired to you guys the past few games?

AK46 looks jittery out there, but Kovy and Pleks seem rejuvenated... almost like they're each a year younger.

lawyergirl77 said...

Sshf- no, Koivu may not be getting the points, but he's got some pretty sweet plays off the puck. Plus, he's been Carbo's second choice for shutting down ofer team's top lines (after Lapierre's line) so he's had some pretty unforgiving assignments for the past few games...

copyranter said...

Schneider can bring it as good as Streit.

moeman said...

1993!

cottoneye said...

Is this feeling... joy?

lawyergirl77 said...

Good shift. My chicken wings were on the end of Max-PAC's stick... And then Kovy's stick. Sigh.

Fuck. Two quick goals. Kovy's line should not be playing alfie's line

Tom said...

Neither team skating well now. It's slowed way down. And Montreal stopped hitting.

lawyergirl77 said...

Tom - Mr. LG77 and I were JUST saying that re: hitting.

Fuck. kovy's line is out against their power line again...

lawyergirl77 said...

AND DANDY FOR THE CHICKEN WINGS!!!

Sonia said...

@LG77 - Start a new chant: O-Wings, O-Wings, O-Wings, O-Wings!

Please, Oh Please, no 3rd period letdown...

Please?

South Shore Habs Fan said...

I held my breath after Ottawa's 2nd goal, but the Habs have rallied really well. My only complaint is that the two-man forecheck seems to have vanished... I used to think that the players got lazy when they got a lead, but now I'm thinking it might've just been the coaching.

@ lg77
I love Koivu, and I wasn't complaining about him, I was just saying that he seems exhausted (falling down, reaching for pucks). Maybe fewer shifts on the PK, or replace D'Ags with someone more defensively responsible, like MaxPac? Because I'd hate to wear out Saku before the (possible) playoffs.

lawyergirl77 said...

Lame 3rd period reffing had better not cost us the game...

lawyergirl77 said...

Sshf - I agree with you in the sense that I would prefer to see him with someone who is more defensively responsible.

Sonia- too late, that chant is already firmly established in the nosebleeds. chi-cken-wings!!!

lawyergirl77 said...

Fuck these Ottawa players fall down easily. Fuck these refs are gullible.

Tom said...

Horrible reffing in the third.

But a much-needed win.

moeman said...

Good win.

Plex is dezombified. and the Kovy love is back.

HabsFan29 said...

just got back. the Kovy-love from the crowd was quite something to see. wow. i can't believe we actually got a W

kevincrumbs said...

Whoa, completely was unaware of the early puck drop and I missed this game. I might also add in that the only other time we won in recent memory was when I did not watch the Colorado game.

Good thing for the Habs that I'm going to be in Hong Kong for a week starting next Saturday. I'll try to exile myself to Burundi or something during the playoffs.
