The Morning Skate for Monday, November 8th

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of an overdoese of Dallas Cowboys schadenfreude...
  • The two best teams in the East duked it out last night, with the Caps needing OT to stop the Flyers winning streak;
  • Another shutout for the Blues, though this time it was Ty Conklin who got it, 2-0 over the Rangers. Proof it may be the system, not Jaro;
  • Edmonton beats the Hawks in Chicago;
  • Saku had 2 goals (and his 700th career point) and Paul Mara scored the winner with 1.7 seconds left as the Ducks beat the Preds 5-4;
  • Joe Thornton's appeal of his two-game suspension was unsuccessful.Has an NHL suspension appeal ever been successful?
  • Let us translate this Rue Frontenac headline for those of you who don't speak the langue de Mitsou: "Does Benoit Pouliot have bad breath?" Martin Leclerc has a good point though, one TMS made on CJAD a week ago.
OK new week, new positive attitude! [Checks schedule]. Uh oh. Hmm, ok. Forget that. How about PFK's glorious smile to brighten up your Monday? Lap dance to whoever it was who put this in the comments a few days ago, we're too lazy to go find out who it was. You know who you are.

mcsplooge on the OTT radio this AM says Eller isn't NHL ready and the Habs made the worst possible trade with St. Loo. Should've kept Jaro 1.0 or gotten Perron or Oshie. The hate he spews towards the CH is sploogy.

@moeman: Eller probably isn't really NHL ready yet... Or at least, not on a team where he's expected to play wing. He needs to be a centre.

That being said, Perron would have looked good on this team...

Glad I could contribute to the site :) It's the least I could do. Really.

Like N31 said on her blog, he's got a smile that could cure all the troubles in the world. Pretty much.

When you cant argue the facts argue the law. The best sweater in the NHL is now the Blackhawks, then CH followed by the Laffs and after that its all comic book or like the Bruins and Flyers ugly. The best sweater ever was the Peyote Dog of Phoniex, I ate a whole sweater once, but nothing. My suggestion is we get a peyote CH sweater to distract us until draft time.

Oh the humanity, but the PFK pick will make up for that.

Then again -two picks after Stewart was chosen, the Canadiens took David Fischer and passed on Claude Giroux. ..

Why is McSplooge on TV? His analysis is questionable and biased at best and his voice goes from monotone to disinterested. And finally, he is fucking creepy.

Boyd on waivers...

Nation taking no joy in Cowboys' pathetic collapse?
That's unpossible.

@haduf

Chocula is sending a message, I miss little tits and wish my coaching methods did not make him behave like spoiled little belusrussian, and I promised big tits if he scores 20 goals by Christmas he gets Sergi back for New Year.

So to summarize, we got nothing for Sergi, and a bag of pucks for Halak, and any crack head begging for money on St Catherine's st has a better hockey mind than the current brain trust.

I hate Thorton. He is just like that big guy in high school who used to patak your frozen ears when you came in from the cold.
And Eller is going to be just fine , so there. Not so sure about the Mexican tho I'm begining to think he's The Mexican't.

Steve said...

@Chester, Lego has had ten fucking games to figure out the instructions an put together a goal. Ten games no goal, end of career thats it no more fucking chances. You will see him next week working at the Bell Center gift shop hawing all the left over Jaro Tshirts.

Thx for that o-man, beleaf me it will come in handy.

Like Max Laps deserves to be promoted. Oh well at least rds is happy. Will BR blame Bob Gainey for Busted Boyd?

@29 & moe: Funny thing is, I don't even care about football. Schadenfreude, though, that's something I can get into.

@Steve: I dunno...Today I saw one of the regulars on St. Cats arguing with a mailbox. The guy's whole point centred on his belief that Kierkegaard's dissertation on the modern age in regards to alienation led to his rejection of abstractions in an ersatz reality.

I mean, COME ON. Of course the mailbox was having none of it.

heh @ o-man, that is good shit.

Gave me an idea to do a cryin' brian burke as Zelig in an all image parody sometime in the future. GG is gonna hate me.

Whilst here, GG, Je t'aimes!

@Moe
You don't scare me. Love Zelig.

Stop defending the mailbox. It's becoming a bad habit.

@Steve: Kamsa hamnida. Jesus I need a night of galbi-soju-noraebang, aka the Korean Holy Trinity.d

GG: Don't get me wrong, that mailbox is a huge asshole. Always taking, never giving.

moe: I just discovered the Montreal Curling Club is right behind my apartment. Explains all the drumming. I really want to go in, but that mailbox keeps telling me it's for losers. What an asshole. I would just ignore him, but he just sits there staring at me. Judging.

Also, in currently in a very boring class.

The Mexican doth confound me with his apparent talent, yet unwillingness to use it for good. Mayhaps he be sent from whence he came for a duo of aging knights so named Arnott and Langenbrunner, evening the Kings' coffers. Until the future when King Lou realizes he is on the hook for Sir Gomez for nigh on three years. By then, the King of CHa-CHing may spendeth his extra gold on a knight who can still swing a stick and deposit the vulcanized rubber into yon net.

Steve said...

@ shakesphere he said only one thing to remember, no not something about yonder lights or fools strutting on stage, we know that, it is ( if it is to be done it is best done quickly) like taking a shot on net, or putting someone on waivers or sending a defective piece of lego back to demark. Or trading a a Mexican for a case of cheap tequila, much better than a bag of pucks. It pretty clear any vampire can train a bunch of pylons to block shots. So if that is what is to be done, I can reach for the remote quickly and watch the Walking Dead, at least they tell you up front thats the plot.

Number31 said...

Is there a random line generator somewhere because I think that's what Martin got his hands on...?

Man, I wish the Bulldogs played closer. I trust Randy&Randy more with our players than Chocula. (I don't trust Sanford with the net, however).

So we can reasonably expect to see Picard on the 4th line tomorrow, yes yes?

Or is JM hoping that O'Byrne can get G&G going?
