- ??? 8 goals? Apparently. Habs 8, Wild 1.So much to love. A PFK hat trick. A Gordie Howe hat trick for BlanCHe Dubois. A solid backup goalie performance. Hell, even CHicken played well. 40 wins (more than all last year) with 9 games still to play. Nipping at Boston's heels (again. sigh.) A significant bounce back from the Rangers game, we'd have to say, even if it was just the Wild. More later;
- Matt Cooke! Cheap shot! To the head! We know that's hard to believe. It wasn't enough to beat the Rangers tho who get a 5-2 win over the Pens;
- The Sabres get a precious point (or lost a precious point, depending on if you're a half full or half empty type) in the fight for 8th with a 4-3(OT) loss to the Preds thanks to Boom Boom's grandson's hat trick;
- Brodeur with a shutout as the Devils now sniffing the Leaf's derriere in the standings;
- In the Deathmatch for 8th in the West, The Ducks beat the Flames in OT 5-4;
- Something happening in Phoenix / Glendale that smells fishy somehow;
- Jack Todd puts the Cooke hit in the broader context.

1./ What are the idiots at CBC trying to do? Hoping to create a goaltending controversy? They were practically drooling when they were second guessing Chockula's decision to put Big Bald Alex Auld in the net. Price likely needs a rest sometime this week and Auld is generally a great backup, but even great backups need a game every now and then.
2./ Why is PJ Suck even allowed to live in Montréal? Did you hear him talking about Hal Gill "wearing" anything that the Phuckfaces at CBC or TSN imagined that Subban did wrong? Even Kelly Rudy looked at him like he was phucked in the head! Yes, Kelly he is.
All this crap is far less annoying, however, when the Habs play a great game like they did last night.
@Soperman, it was truly embarrassing watching Stock trying to explain the "insider" knowledge he may have of the workings of an NHL team dressing room. It was like his brain couldn't get his tongue to articulate what he was trying to say. Ridiculous. I don't watch HNIC for perspective anymore but merely to watch them make fools of themselves with their blatant Toronto homerism and their obvious dislike (I won't say hatred) of the Montreal Canadiens.
The only members of the HNIC staff that I offer objectivity are Kelly Hrudey and Elliot Friedman. On the Hot Stove, Pierre LeBrun and Eric Francis are more league orientated with their opinions.
Last Saturday, I purposely boycotted the leaf/Bruin game for obvious reasons and did not check Coach's Corner after Cherry's rant the week before. I'm done with him.
Great bounce back win yesterday, love Ryan White, he will be invaluable to this team for the forseeable future.
@29, yes Yvon Lambert was a favourite of mine as well, he basically ended Cherry's coaching career in '79, a great day in Habs history, but Muller brought more to the table. I think GG11 will agree.
BlaCHe Dubois, eh? And here I was hoping Ryan White's nickname could be The Hemophiliac.
Boom Boom Blake, he went 56 th overall in 2006. Remember when Habs drafted the spawn of every ex hab. How did they miss this one, Half Boom Boom, half Rocket, Oh My God.
PFK cheated on his hat trick, on the first goal he used to much strength to hold off Clusterfuck Porn Stache, on the second he shot the puck without stopping it first, no fair, on the third instead of shooting at the goalies chest, he aimed for an open area, not sporting. Who will stop these code violations, I am afraid Stan Johnathon is going to have to hop the boards and straighten this kid out.
The Yote deal is very straightforward, the dude is buying the team with the deposit on his empties for the next 100years. He promises to give all his empties to Glendale, as long as they pick them up.
I am getting a bit fed up with all the homerism on the CBC - last night I was spared Bob Cold, as I really struggled to find a stream anywhere(Thanks O Man) but finally the RDS stream appeared. I am not a fan of any of their colour guys but at least the play by play is relatively entertaining. My question to y'all is this: Given how much that the Torontocetric establishment despise PFK - does he stand any chance of a Calder nod this year? He's stepped into a team that has been ravaged by injuries and played brilliantly - OK - he's had a couple of off nights - but he's fresh and exciting and (IMHO) worthy of Calder consideration - and I recognise that his +- is crap but he's logging 25 minutes a game - how many rookies can say that? How many other leading Calder rookies can say that they have become an absolutley vital piece of the team puzzle and back it up with the TOI that PFK has logged?
@Kmax - yes he has no chance at Calder or even nomination, and your valid argument for at least a nomination is spot on.
Blame Toronto wunderkid Nazim Kadri, he got his first NHL goal Saturday. Its a huge case of penis envy.
Kudos to Todd for an honest article but unfortunately he is part of what is being labelled the Montréal whining machine. From cherry, to campbell to the CotU mediots (including the pfuck daddy droolers), they have tried, semi-successfully, to brand the issue as a Montréal (owner, team, players, fans, media) whinefest. As lg mentioned last week, yes a percentage of those that CHeer our Habs do not reflect positively (and not just on this issue) but nope, this ain't a homegrown thing. The two positive results I will take away from this headshot crap is PatCHes recovery and possible playoff return (don't do it unless you are 200% ready) and the leaf not making the playoffs cuz thats one headshot my noggin' could not take.
@Kmaxx...
I agree with you. But don't worry, 'they' will find a way to not even consider PFK for Calder..
Seriously, Blanche Dubois???
Good points Kmaxx and Steve. Bonus CotU navel grazing was tsn saying PFK!'s complete 360 of a beauty goal "was just like luke schenn's". Sure.
Apologies, if need be, on the BlanCHe Dubois. I took 29's white translation and added the wood. You do have to admit that White's fists are a like a sideCHar to be desired.
no nickname is permanent kidz. however, i have not still, as yet, heard a suggestion
Le Démon Blanc?
I know, saCHrilegious.
How about: White Knuckles? Kind of a tribute to old 'Nuckles Nilan.
I think Whitey is standard lockeroom label, so how about honky or cracker?
White has fought twice now and while the first fight did not get a unanimous vote from the Ministry of Code, the second fight was totaly free of code violations, so how about Code Blanc?
Steve, I admire your logic. It never ceases to amaze me.
I believe I read a suggestion a while back...Ryan White...White Rhino...or Albino Rhino...snowy...blow...anything goes!
wv: I hope we hand the broons their ahsess this thrusday...
Hey we only made No. 11 on GQ's worst sports fans .. we should pick it up.
Montreal should be a no go zone for Buttman, Cherry, and Collie. You dont mess with the FHFQ. Operation Honey Pot, thats either a photo with a stripper or smoking da bong.
Expect the worst, defeat disappointment. Four Habs Fans has the sherwood of Damascus hanging over the blog. Some suggestions for the new name.
