The Morning Skate for Monday, December 22nd

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of the number one seed...
  • Habs go into the Christmas break the way they always do, with a loss, 3-2 to the Canes in OT. Meh. Referees' whistles or not, that game was meh. I'm sure we'll expand on that thought later today;
  • Bruins train keeps rolling, 6-3 over the Blues. Michael Ryder scored his 12th goal, more than any Hab. Oy;
  • Devils take care of the Flyers in a shootout.
Excuse us for rushing off, gotta go shovel.

Let me dispel any illusions you have about harmless ole Carolina. Their fans are idiots. Stupidest in the league. Whereas a lot of southern hockey fans will readily admit they are ignorant of the finer--or even the broader--points of the game, Carolina fans are shameless in their arrogant pontificating about rules, other teams, penalties (including what does and does not qualify as high-sticking) etc. They are beyond ignorant. They are ignorant of the fact they are ignorant. There is nothing worse than a small measure of success to turn an entire group of bandwagon fans into self-proclaimed 'experts'.

Oh, and Cam Ward still sucks.

I have a theory. Well, I have many theories, mostly conspiratorial in nature, due to my generally paranoid state of being.

Anyway, the past 2 Canes games featured 3 of the 4 refs from Quebec. Do you think it's possible that Quebecois refs overcompensate when officiating Habs games so as to not look to be favouring them?

I believe so.

Don't get me going on the 'moon landing' or 9/11 or reasons why Patrice Brisebois is still playing in the NHL.

Why couldn't the Habs make funny?
