TMS loves all you bitCHes on this Monday Valentines Day

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of being the first Canadian to win an ATP tournament in 16 years...
  • TMS loves that Mario spoke out against the state of the league and threatened to leave it in the wake of the Isles-Pens brawl and the punishment handed out. Mario did not comment on Matt Cooke;
  • Scoreboardwatcher loves the Wings, who won both ends of the home and home against the Bs;
  • TMS is loving the Pens' slide without their stars, but scoreboardwatcher doesn't love that the most recent loss came to the Rangers;
  • Scoreboardwatcher loves that this game wasn't a 3-pointer: Canes 3, Thrash 2;
  • TMS loves that the crappy Isles have some fight in them, winning a wild 7-6 (OT) game over the Sabres;
  • We love seeing Philly get shut out;
  • Gazette's Stubbs loves him some Hamr, while Hickey loves him some Double D, and Jack Todd doesn't love the province's plan for the Quebec City arena, and TMS doesn't love that he agrees with him;
  • Mario Tremblay loves goons.
TMS doesn't love that FHF is losing GG11 for the next couple of weeks as she is traveling to parts unknown. But we love that she has left us with a special gift, a series of alternate Habs jerseys that should be considered for use in the Heritage Classic coming up this weekend. We'll be featuring one a day all this week. Today's seems highly appropriate. Now get out there and love someone.

While I'm gone you can back to posting half naked women and eating dinner in the den in front of the tv. But when I get back you'd better have passed a vacuum or I'm going to freak!

Bon VoyaGG!

@GG - I'm sure it will be kept up to the "usual" standards. Have a nice trip - wherever it is you are off to.

And to you, Moey, LG, and any of the other "regulars" who might be female - Happy Valentine's Day.

UK3X said...

By "might" I actually meant "are"...

@gg does that motif come in lingerie, time is running out.

Parts unknown, in high school thats what I called everything below the neck.

Have fun GG. Bring us back a t-shirt!

So the Isles have scored 20 goals in their last 3 games. I'm not as depressed over our loss to them now.

The Atl/Car game reminded me: Wouldn't it make more sense if every game was 3 points? A regulation win=3, OT win=2, OT loss=1. I realize this would result in insane point totals for teams, but isn't it more fair?

Flying Toaster said...

@Orangeman - You're not the first one to suggest that. But you know the NHL prefers to change things one intsy-bitsy part at a time (what with that ridiculous headshot rule) rather than actually bother with giving the league an overhaul and *gasp!* increase it's overall quality.

My personal suggestion though would be 3-0 regulation AND in OT. You'd get 2-1 points split only in the shootout. Might make those grumpy old men who dislike spectacle, originality and fun a bit happier the shootout has less importance.

Love seeing the emergence of DD. Who can not cheer for someone like him?

Watching the Leafs and Grabovski made me reminisce about the days of the Kovy-Grabs-Tits line. If we still had Grabovski, he could play with Akost and DD and we'd have the "Grab-DoubleD-Tits" line. Or if, instead of Grabovski, we still had SKost, then the brothers could play with DD and we have the "DoubleD-pair of tits" line.

@O'man and FT: if i've said it once, i've said it a thousand times: BRING BACK THE TIE. problem solved

Steve said...

The Toronto Star did a profile on players ready to be moved, and Shea Weber from Nashville was one. Big Tits to Nashville, what team has more leverage, Nashville is a place where they really appreciate Tits.

Come on goat make a move.

Orangeman said...

I know I'm not the first one to bring it up, but as the season winds down and the teams scrape for points it just becomes more and more obvious.

I don't know if bringing back the tie would really help (not that I'm against it) unless you mean they get rid of the extra point in OT as well. I think the intention of the extra point was to make OT/SO more exciting, but in reality it's just made third periods more boring. If the game is tied neither team has any real incentive to try to score until OT. With a 3 point regulation win you bring that back.

As it stands now a team could lose every game and still end up tied with a team that is .500. That's just messed up.

I'd go with 2 points for a win, period. Get 1 point in a an SO loss.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to the land of milk and honey where I'm more freaked out about not having wifi than I am about rioting Egyptians.

I will find a McDavid's hot spots somewhere and send you all some guilt. Would it kill you to answer?

The problem with the loser point is that some games are worth 3 points, some worth 2. Some suggest making a Regulation Win worth 3 points. I agree, but why not take it farther? I consider a regulation win to be worth more than an OT win, which in turn is worth more than a SO win. So make each game worth - get this - 5 points.

Regulation win: 5 points to winner, 0 to loser.
OT win: 4 points to winner, 1 point to loser.
SO win: 3 points to winner, 2 points to loser.

Untraditional? No more so than a 3 point system.

Shea Weber's not going anywhere, especially after Nashville has shown themselves to be buyers with the acquisition of Fisher. Just some wishful CotU thinking by the Toronto Star.

On an unrelated note, why wouldn't Forsberg play one last home game and then retire after the game?

Steve said...

Kevin, Nashville is a total relationship organization, Carrie underwood had issues and management solved them for her. Little Tits soars while big tits sags. It just makes a great back story. Plus what was the cap hit now and future for Mr Underwood? Weber is looking a 4 mill minimum.

I see Tits and Swiss Miss going country for Weber.

Call me old-fashioned, I am against a 3 point regulation win. If that system is ever implemented, you can kiss the 1976-77 habs record of 132 points goodbye. Detroit came close one year (130 I think) and they broke the 60 win record. I'd like the points record, along with the 8 losses record to stand forever and ever. Amen.

Steve said...

How about this as a solution, no ties, no points for not winning, tied at the end of three periods means 4 on 4 OT until there is a winner.

Fuck the system cause if the game goes past midnight even the players are going to fall assleep

you know i find it fascinating that the whole hockey world is talking about Mario's comments, yet no one here seems to care. i love this blog

p.s. @aononymous (who must be different from last week's anonymous) - heh. agreed re DD. you're rescuing the anonymous name

Is George St Larquoe related to Bunny. Could he not come down and in the 5 waking minutes during the day the players are not learning the system teach Habs to be an absolute ninja team of vulcan death grip masters.

They could smoke their visors just like NFL players.

DDD is on Pronger, its a top mount, now a guard mount and he is laying a sustainded flurry of overhands on Progners knees.

Orangeman said...

@29: I think I've gotten all my rage about goons out already.

@Maritimer: Total points are already skewed with 3 point games (not to mention the different amount of games per year over time). I don't necessarily want 3 pt regulation wins, I'm just saying it's messed up to have some games count for 3 pts and others for 2. And, like I said, I think it just makes for boring 3rd periods a lot of the time.

moeman said...

tsn won't let go the Loopy vs. PFK! 'story. Fuckers.

Orangeman said...

Just read and saw Konopka or whatever his name is from the Isles criticize Mario. I think this just proves the point. A nobody who wouldn't even be allowed in an NHL rink in a perfect world thinks he has just a valid opinion as number 66. Not only that, the mouth breathing media believe it too. Mario is far from infallible and I've always found him a bit whiney. But who the fuck is Kokotonk or whatever and why does anyone give a shit what he says about anything? Reasonable people can disagree, but no one cares what morons have to say. Except for TSN I guess.

It's like having to hear what Sarah Palin has to say about Obama. Or a kindergartener about a professor of physics.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! How about a few Habs videos?

What's the most romantic gift you've given on V-Day?
Who did you have a crush on when you were 10?

Do I even have to tell you Gill has the best answer?

@Irri, I am often asked those questions and I reflexly want to go to the chocolaty covered whale vagina, but I always default to the notebook my lover keeps to document how tender I am.

When I was 10 it was Raquel Raquel Raquel.

I just wanted to amend something you said on the Leaf recap.

Luke Schenn is indeed worst on the Leafs in give-aways.

But he's also worst in the entire NHL.

And he also has all of 11 points.

Cue ppp to tell us that give-aways means nothing.

Flying Toaster said...

Really? You're worried about the points record? You know if the point system changes it won't take away anything from that record as everyone knows they play(ed) by different rules. Besides, the record that matters and everyone remembers is the 8 losses. Now THAT is a record that can't change with the points system.

And I still say 3-0 for anything but a shootout where you go 2-1 is the best choice. Being tied in the 3rd, teams would still fight it out hardcore because they know they won't get a point just for being in overtime. And they'd still try to win it in overtime to get that 3rd point they'd lose If the game went into a shootout. And I don't want the shootout the go away. Try to find a single moment in a hockey game that has you on the edge of your seat and wide-eyed as often as the shootout.

To me it's what actually brought me into hockey and I've been a fan since.

moeman said...

Thx boob. ppp will be happy to point out that fLuke is #1 at something. They pick corn out of leaf shit everyday.

Number31 said...

The Leaf now has a first round pick for Versteeg. Plan the parade. Does this mean the League will rig it so the Flyers tank just so the Leaf can get a high pick?

And Konopka needs to put his foot further down his throat. Boohoo Gillies has fines to pay and has a wife and kids and shuttles between the ECHL/AHL and already makes minimum wage. Maybe Gillies should have thought about that when he rammed his elbow into the head of a kid then punched him and taunted him. Frankly 9 games is a joke. The guy hasn't even played 9 games! If the League had any balls they'd banned his ass permanently. Legal action should also be taken, like they did in the Q. (Then again Bertuzzi still has a job).

Also should be banned for a douchey moustache.

kevincrumbs said...

@Number31: I'd be okay with that as the Leafs would still find a way to fuck up a pick even if it was first overall in the draft.

moeman said...

The leaf said it got Versteeg to be a leader cuz he won a Stanley Cup. Lets watch them reinvent.
