The Red, White and Blue Badge of CHourage ~ Ducks 4 - Habs 3 (SO) ~ Saku's homecoming ~ Game Review

"He suddenly lost concern for himself, and forgot to look at
menacing fate. He became not a man but a member.
He felt that something of which he was a part—a regiment, an army,
a cause, or a country—was in a crisis. He was welded into a common
personality which was dominated by a single desire."
~ Stephen Crane

The desire to win, to beat the opponent, be it the xenophobic Québec media, the true on-ice rival Bruins and worse fucking cancer. Our valiant little 'C' beat the Bill 101 crazies, beat the big bad Bs and biggest of all beat the big fucking C, all along winning our hockey and humane hearts. Keep fighting courageously. Merci, Thank You, Kiitos Saku.

♥ ❤ ❥

Disregard Gordie's Bruins jersey (but fitting considering Saku always played and beat them well).

One of my fave Hip tunes. Great lyrics, cool fucking vocals and incredible musicianship.

CHourage

Watch the game with a bunCH of FHFers
Quickly, follow the anthem with someone known
Quickly, follow the spotlight with someone familiar
Quickly someone familiar
CHourage, Saku's word, he came home, its all that mattered

Habs sleepwalked, so fast asleep in the first period
The Habs play at home and fans bliss on their old Captain
Standing O!, he kissed all our Bell Centre surroundings

CHourage, Saku's word, he came home, its all that mattered
CHourage, our word, Koivu came home, its all that mattered
CHourage, my word, he came home, its all that mattered
CHourage, fucking cancer, couldn't come at a worse time!

(un-parodied)

"So there's no simple explanation
for anything important any of us do
and yea the human tragedy
consists in the necessity
of living with the consequences
under pressure, under pressure"

CHourage, Saku's word, he came home, its all that mattered
CHourage, our word, Koivu came home, its all that mattered
CHourage, my word, he came home, its all that mattered
CHourage, 3rd penalty, couldn't come at a worse time! PatCHes!
CHourage, overtime, couldn't determine a winner!
CHourage, shootout, couldn't score at a worse time! 0 for 3.
CHourage, 2nd Star, couldn't come at a better time! SAKU KOIVU!

During his time in Montreal, Saku must have gone to the Jean Beliveau School of Class.

Excellent job moeman. Love the Hip, even if they sing about dead ex-Leafs and wear Bruins jerseys. Good enough for me is whenever I hear 'Lonely end of the rink", I picture Ken Dryden leaning on his stick in the 76-77 season.

How on god's green earth did Ryan steal 1st star last night? And why didn't the officials just say "Fuck that shit, 3rd, 2nd, 1st star Saku motherfucking KOOIIIIVVVVUUU!" I was actually more upset about that than the loss.

Good effort to come back, though, etc.

Habs Skills Competition today;

PatCHes is the fastest skater with a time of 14:26 followed by Pie, Double D & PFK!.

CHicken had the hardest shot at 102mph followed by SwissMiss2, CHeeze Whiz, PFK!, Jaro 2.0 & Captain Picard.

Gio hit 4 targets in 11.01 sec going 4-4.

FUCK and YES. great work moe. great work GG. great work Saku.

I was once at a Hip show and they were selling this Blue Maple Leafs jersey but instead of "Toronto Maple Leafs" inside the leaf it said "Tragically Hip". it was really fucking cool and i almost bought it. then i realized i would have been beaten up in the streets here, just on sight

Wonderful work, moe.

After finally getting a chance to watch the anthems and the standing ovation from last night's game, I have to say I'm a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was very touching and brought a tear to my eye but I think the organization could have put some video together or something. It just didn't feel like enough. Maybe it's just me.

Also, 2nd star?! Screw the stupid rules. Just this once, FFS.

There's no fucking way Spacek is one of our hardest shots. And if that's even remotely true, then there's no way the puck came within 10 feet of his target.

When Spacek takes a point shot in a game, I feel like all the players on the ice stare upwards into the lights as the puck sails way over their heads.

It reminds me of Bob Uecker (spelling?) from Major League when Rick "The Wild Thing" Vaughn would throw the ball over the batter and into the stands and Bob would go, "Juuuuuuuust outside."

@Moey - considering the fact that next year is Saku's final year of his contract, you'd better believe that we're heading to CA (long live the time share!) to stalk, er see him in that game!!
