The Morning Skate for Thursday, October 8th

Bullet points for what you missed while having nightmares of a Michael Vick reality show...
  • Oy. Thank goodness we went to bed after the third goal, because that may have been unpleasant, Habs lose 7-1 to the Nucks. All talk of TFS over Luongo for the Olympic team is immediately dropped as TFS gets pulled in front of his parents. Our defence has, uh, issues. Meh. More later today, maybe;
  • Yotes are 2-0! Go Yotes!
  • Leafs get a slap on the wrist for some tampering about the Sedins.
Still 78 games to go. You can look at that two ways.

Those Sedins are pretty good.

Yotes have Lang. 'nuff said.

Yotes play like a team. 'Nuff said. Dallas' problem wasn't Dave Tippett, Phoenix's problem was all Gretzky.

The Als never win in Vancouver either. What's up with that place? But way to let a kid down guys. It was 10 minutes of weak pressure on Bobby Lu, and then 5-on-1 for the rest in Price's direction. Apparently they left their abilities in the previous time zone.

At least AK46 scored and looked like he was awake for the first time this year.

And gotta commend Price though. Instead of running off to the room in tears or baseball capping it on the backup seat, he squeezed himself in on the bench. His parents looked devastated though. "Hi mom, dad! This is my crappy team!"

Even the guys over at nucks misconduct felt bad for price. Great game, though.

@CH - Nice to see you back!

Ok, as FHF would put it : Fear the collapse people!

What a brutal effort by ALL team members. I will exclude Price from that...5 on 1's are not easy!

I'm now hating Hal Gill, he's my new whipping boy. Bring back Breezer! Let him out of the retirement trunk!!!

WV : harin. The Habs harin big trouble!

Maybe Price wasn't to blame, but he didn't come close to stopping any of those breakaways.

We lost two regular d-men. Gill is supposed to be a 6th defenceman and he's being used as a first unit guy. He's not that bad.

I wonder why we don't sign Dandy. He could help out on the 4th line and on defence.

Like the Habs, I slept through most of it.

Today is a new day.

Go Habs!

moeman - you and me both. I went to bed when it was 3-0, hoping for some kind of comeback while I slept.

Nope. Not even close.

I feel awful for Price. I remain convinced that Carbo lost the room for good last year when he didn't let Price start in his hometown. Here's hoping that yesterday's game isn't another precursor of bad things... however the fact that Price hopped up onto the bench when he got pulled is kind of cool. Maybe his head is in the right place, after all.

I don't blame that loss on Price at all. The midrange shot was back and he had ZERO defensive coverage. No shit he was gonna look bad. (But his ridonculous stats had to come around at some point... too bad they came around all in one game!)

God our D is weak without Markov and (dare I say it) Rhino. He was playing his way into top 4 status... Now we're stuck with Gill. Sob.

Cornelius only ever comes here after we lose.

I also come here for bruins-habs games thankyouverymuch

Of course, most recently...

The word on Vancouver talk radio is that Price put his fist through the dressing room wall after the game.

Does this mean he's out 6-8 with a broken hand?

Does this mean we can shoot the moon for man-games lost (our record is 536, right?) and tank the season?

Hadulf said...

Yes, yes he does. I just find it amusing that his initials are "CH".

Nonetheless, he is one entertaining dude (or dudess)...

@ Cornelius:

Travis Moen is going to eat Lucic first meeting this year. Paul Mara is going to hit Savard so hard he pees his panties. For good measure, Andrei Kostitsyn is going to fire a snapshot off Julien's big bald dome, and Tim Thomas is going to wish he was back in whatever third rate Euro league he was languishing in before he went all Dr Faustus for a few years of glory after tangling with the Giant Mexican Squid. Your only solace will be the top 5 pick Brian Burke handed you for One-Ball Kessel.

As always, nice to see you!

Awwww, you guys care!

@HF10: Chara, Bitz, and Thornton will crush whoever is left on the team after Caaaaareeeey is done with them.

I think he's just doing it for team Canada, though. Tits better watch his ankles. [YES THIS JOKE WAS PROBABLY MADE HERE BEFORE I'M SURE]
