I think someone here said earlier in the week that it would've been better if the Habs closed out against good teams. When the Habs were down one later in the 3rd and pressuring the Canes, the Canes might've wilted if they had something to play for. Sadly, since they had nothing to lose, there was no chance of them fucking up.

I love this franchise, but I hate this team. I don't think I've ever hated a version of the Habs as much as I hate this gutless, rudderless, heartless bullshit tease of a fucking team. Frankly, I hope they get fucking destroyed on Saturday, I hope they don't make the playoffs, and I hope every fucking fan of this great, glorious organization emails, writes, calls or throws a brick through the Molson's window that says the exact same message:
This is unacceptable on almost every level. These players, this management team, this soulless, watered-down shadow of a Montreal Canadiens team has no right to wear the colours anymore. Everything about the franchise I love is a fucking shambles watching this keystone cops garbage. There's no joy when they win; only relief or an incredulous shake of the head over how lucky they were. There's no relaxing viewing; never an easy night. There's no looking to a better future because this team is older and cap-tied and doesn't possess much in the way of game-changers (the great hope of PK Subban excepted). The foreseeable future of this team is a bunch more shitty, fighting for scraps low playoff spots and frustration, never bad enough to effect a Pens-style rebuild or good enough for a Cup, which means this team has become St. Louis with a bigger trophy cabinet full of fast-fading glory. It needs to change, and it needs to change NOW. This is not good enough and everyone associated with this should be embarrassed.

10, that's pretty much my feelings as well. I think a large part of the passivity of this team is shown in their refusal to pick a captain. You can see the total lack of leadership. With all the new guys this season they really needed one captain to bring everyone together and focus. Instead, we get players that all play their own styles with a coach that has a completely different approach.
I will say that I hope they beat the leafs on Saturday, but only because I hate the leafs more than anything. It's really, really sad to say as a Habs fan, but I don't care if they make the playoffs. Actually, I think it's better that they don't. This season is a complete disaster but if they get in everyone in that organization will think it's a success and nothing will happen. If the Habs don't make it I don't think they'll be able to ignore the rage from the media and fans. I mean, really, who cares if they make it? So they can get swept out by the Caps? I'm tired of seeing them lose, I really don't feel like going through the motions for 4 extra games.
The team is full of people who obviously are playing for a paycheque, not for glory or personal dignity. Like 10 said, you can see it in the way they play and on their faces. There are some exceptions, notably Price and Halak who have pretty much carried this pathetic team all season. Gio and Pleks (most nights), too. And a few others, but not the ones who need to do the job.
But I've been saying all season that this is a 'just enough' team, always doing 'just enough' to seem competent. They score a goal in the 1st, sit back and rest on it and seem surprised when they lose it. They work to tie it up only to stop playing and lose in OT. They won 6 in a row, seemed poised to make the playoffs and stopped playing, going below .500 afterwards. So the Rangers will lose tomorrow, and the Habs will think they earned their playoff spot. They won't show up again on Saturday and lose by 4 goals and shrug.
Sorry, I want to root for my team to win, not for others to lose, and it's been the opposite for way too long now.
Having said alllllll that, fuck you leafs, I hope you fucking get embarrassed on Saturday, you fucking fucks. Ok, so maybe hating is as much fun as loving sometimes.
