The Morning Skate for Wednesday, April 14th

Bullet points for what you missed while having nightmares of possibly another corrupt provincial government...
  • The Oilers win the draft lottery. The Fucking Bruins get to pick second. Fuck you Phil Kessel;
  • Looks like Jerry Reinsdorf's group could soon own the Coyotes. And cheap!
  • For some reason Pleks picks now to open his mouth and taunts Jose Theodore. What the hell, we'll join in. Jo-séee, Jo-séee, Jo-séee;
  • From the Washington side of things today: Japers Rink has tons of coverage, Dan Steinberg tells about the Caps firing back at Pleks, and Musings of a hockey mom tries to wrap up everyone's feelings about the series;
  • OK, one from our side. Number31's Top 10 is well worth your time. But only if you like laughing.
OK we're getting close people! Two very busy days coming up. The Little People previews will hit in full force today with both D and goalies. And tomorrow morning we have a special surprise for you (ice cream!) before finally setting the table for, you know, hockey.

Maybe its just the lawyer in me, or the fact that I'm pissed that Quebec wouldn't forgive taxes on Le Nouveau Forum, but doesn't Reinsdorf's deal for the Burb Yotes violate the Free Trade Agreement? That's an awful lot of public money going into the pot, particularly in a state of gun toting, Tea Party patriots. I liked the idea of the team going back to the 'peg.

We're all in hiding?

That, or it's finals time.

Perhaps it's the thought of the Urologist trying to contain Ovi AKA "The Android" that has us all speechless... Sigh.

Does anyone actually think that our boys can make it past the caps in this round? I honestly think that playing them would be better than playing anyone else in the east. Especially since the caps literally had 24 games against the south east division with a record of 19-3-2. Not to mention they were the only team in said division to make the playoffs. We had four out of five teams in our division make the offs but just imagine how much padding the caps record and stats got from all those one sided games. That and Theo isn't known for playing well in clutCH games or playing with attitude. I like being the underdog and think that we will surprise a lot of analysts out there. Fuck McSplooge and Fuck the EA sports simulator, both can lick my taint.

Go HABS GO for the love of GOD and all that is holey!

This is how low my expectations have gotten: I'll be happy if they win one game.

I am back in my CHildhood (that sometimes happens when you get to my age) and I believe the Habs can beat anyone. It is not a matter of all the fucking stats that we look at, it comes down to the fact that hockey is played on a sheet of ice, not a sheet of paper.

This is why we play hockey, for the tough games, not the easy ones. And face the facts, Superpleks is right, Theodore is not Brodeur or Miller. Go HABS Go!!

Don't get me wrong, I am cheering for them either way. I'd LOVE to see them win one of the away games and see Boudreau lose it and then come back home and win those too (aah fantasies!) But I don't wanna get all excited only to be disappointed in 4 games. The only way they can pull off the upset is if they play the Caps like they have all season and Halak gets his A game back. All year though, we've seen them come out dominating in the first period and then fall apart in the second. If this is how they show up, the Caps will eat them alive...

Hard to predict which team will come out for the Habs. Let's hope the Count has some playoff coaching up his sleave(ha!) and the players rally together.

Go Habs Go!!!

We are going to find out the moxie content of this team. We are Kanuks and this is our game ... we know for a fact that any team can beat any other team on any give day provided it wants it enough. The team that wants it, will win it. Still ... this will require my '93 T-shirt, my Shrine and a large and handy source of Belgian Beer. Go Habs.

I have a bottle of "Serge Savard" wine from Krystal Laguna in Cuba, just after Serge sold it. It will only be opened after the Habs win the cup, even if I am drinking a glass of vinegar!

@soperman,

We have a bottle of '77 Dom Perignon in the basement. I suspect it's WAY past the drink by date, could make for a kick ass salad however.
