NO PIC REVIEW PREVIEW SINGALONG : Habs 1 - Flyers 0 / Habs-Sabres Open Thread

No pics today. GG has asked for a raise and we have turned her down and so she is protesting and we are protesting back by not posting any photos. Of course, that makes little sense.

GG is already making exactly what we make and we feel that FHF should continue to evolve as an equal partnership.

So this being said, last night MTL made its life a bit easier. If they go on to play .500 hockey, the Rangers will have to play undefeated in regulation and win at least 4 to take the Habs down. Even if the Habs win only one more, it will be hard for 9th to push them out of the playoff picture. The teams pushing the Habs will have to moonwalk up and down our asses to cast us aside.

Alors, with sincere apologies to Moeman, HF29, and the King of Pop, but none to Mike Cammalleri who has failed to find the touch that made him great before injuring his ACL or MCL or TLC or whatever the fuck ligament he tore, here we go.

Each time the team blows
I have a choice but
I am so lame
When Halak awakes me
And Gomez just fake me
I can't push through

You know how I feel
Kostitsyn is wrong
I'm so glad to be back with you
Carey's always high
My knee's getting by
My life ain't worth living
If I'm not bleu blanc rouge!

I JUST CAN'T PLAY LIKE LEMIEUX
OH BABY!
I JUST CAN'T PLAY LIKE LEMIEUX
AND IF I SUCK!
OOH OW
THEN TELL ME JUST WHAT WILL I DO
I JUST CAN'T PLAY LIKE LEMIEUX

We can beat all the teams tomorrow
Jacques can change the lines of yesterday
I can say hey farewell to Morrow
This is my life and I wan't to
Score here for always!

I JUST CAN'T PLAY LIKE LEMIEUX
OH BABY!
I JUST CAN'T PLAY LIKE LEMIEUX
AND IF MY PLAY SUCKS!
AND IF IT SUCKS, OOH OW
THEN TELL ME JUST WHAT WILL I DO
I JUST CAN'T PLAY LIKE LEMIEUX....

I love 9-year old boys.

fade out

Ok now seriously. Last couple of weeks we lost to the Sens, Sabres and Devils. Can we start to feel that we can at least take one of these guys down. If we lose a Thriller again tonight, and the Sabres Wanna be Starting Something but we just play Bad, then I don't want to talk about it anymore, just Leave Me Alone.

Time: 7pm
TV: RDS CBC
Hot: Halak, Sabres
Not: Canadiens - Halak, not the Sabres
Adult entertainment: It's Easter, play with your eggs
Better adult entertainment: Let your significant other paint your eggs

What do you think people? Do you think the Habs Really Care About Us?

It's nearly 25 outside; too nice of day of fret over Team One Goal. Maybe tonight, but I'm watching the real local talent gain ray or two.

moeman said...

Apologies accepted 4. A bit off the wall but a very nice job.

thrashers get a point against the pens

fezworth said...

So is Halak getting the start tonight? Do we know?

moeman said...

cbc/hnic, aka the leaf lovers, post the OTT loss to the NYI (we play em next week) say Jaro.

GoldenGirl11 said...

Movie viewing for tonight

The only thing worse than a strike is a sincere commitment to watching chick flicks on DVD.

Please guys, MAKE THE FREAKIN' PLAYOFFS !

GoldenGirl11 said...

@b
Less painful since I'm a chick.

moeman said...

GG meant CHick.

Ohhh I dunno... I got Doctor Who then Habs. If the game starts sucking I'm muting it and watching more Doctor Who. Seriously, I don't know if they can survive by playing the way they did last night against the Sabres BUT maybe they were just saving their energy for today?

Oh hey, wtf Kovy. Brian Elliott had more points than you against the ISLANDERS. Remember the days when he used to eat those New York teams for breakfast?

GoldenGirl11 said...

@Moe
My apologies. The CHoliday is killing me.

moeman said...

@GG, apologies accepted, now get yourself some (insert name here)tinis.

@Esther "If the game starts sucking"? Now what are the CHances of that happening?

Go you fucking Habs!

GoldenGirl11 said...

@Moe
Somehow I don't think a Matzahtini is going to be all that good.

Number31 said...

@moeman - Oh I dunno. These sneaky Habs can surprise us every now and then. It also depends on the amount of time it takes for either CBC or RDS to piss me off.

hfotwc said...

@31, and that amount of time would be blink of an eye, crack of the first beer or by the time the first commercial rolls in?

Go Jaro, Go Carey!!(since the rest of the team sucks)

Number31 said...

GO YOU FUCKING HABS GO!

Number31 said...

Oh shit. Bergeron is still on D. That's D for Disaster.

At least Sergei is back.

iRiRi said...

Sergei's back? Good! Does that mean no Maxwell?

Go Habs Go!!!

Olympians in the house!! Aah, memories!

GoldenGirl11 said...

Did o'byrne almost score in our net again?

Number31 said...

Yes. Yes he did. And almost took out Jaro.

iRiRi said...

WTF O'Byrne? I thought we already went over this...

Jaybird said...

PUT PLEX LINE ON TOP PP! These guys suck.

hfotwc said...

OB in the other teams' net?!? wow!!

Number31 said...

Rhino finally put it in the PROPER net! Awww he looked so happy there!

GoldenGirl11 said...

I'm happy for o'b. For his mom.

GoldenGirl11 said...

I even like JM's suit tonight!

iRiRi said...

Aw! GG, I forgot about that. How sweet :)

Unknown said...

@GG: You must like it a lot. XD

Unknown said...

@RiRi: Are you watching on RDS? Do you also find those "Liberté 55" ads really annoying? Almost annoying enough to make you want to listen to Bob Cole?

GoldenGirl11 said...

@Ez
Maybe Kirk dressed him tonight.

GoldenGirl11 said...

@Ez
Ah. Now I understand. Stupid iPhone.

Number31 said...

PYATT!

Eat it, bambi legged giant Myers.

kevincrumbs said...

@Number31: That's one hell of a unique way to insult someone.

Goals from Rhino and Pyatt... exactly what this team needs.

Unknown said...

@kc: Yeah - it's decidedly the night of the obscure scorers.

Rips it, scores! said...

@Number31: Doctor Who fan, eh? Methinks FHF could do with some Karen Gillan, aka Amy Pond.

Nyom.

iRiRi said...

@Ez - Yes, I'm watching on RDS and pretty much any ad annoys me, especially that Coors Light "Ciao! BYEEEE" one. For some reason, I' ve never considered switching to CBC. What am I missing?

Right now I'm being annoyed by Jasey-Jay's voice. These interviews are nice and all but NOT during the game please.

GoldenGirl11 said...

Doesn't anybody that works for Coors actually watch hockey to realize that the Annie commercial is completely overplayed? Makes me miss the Olympic Tim Horton spots. I anyone out there works for the marketing dept know that i would NOT buy coors because of the airwaves abuse.

Unknown said...

@RiRi: Didn't spend much time on CBC. Back on RDS now.

I know what you mean about the in-game interviews. It's distracting and not super fair to the interviewee either.

Maybe we should ask 29 how he would deal with an in-game interview. How many oven mitts might he need?

wv: The Thrashers' playoff hopes are e-vaspor-ating...

Number31 said...

@Rips - BIG Who fan. In fact I thought those things in the header were early-Troughton era Cybermen before I realized what they were.

Number31 said...

"For intelligent hockey talk, tune into HNIC radio"? That...yea, that makes me laugh.

Jaybird said...

That Torres hit is a complete jumping blindside headshot on Moen! I am enraged it wasn't even mentioned anywhere. Torres has a history of that garbage.

Should be 5 games.

iRiRi said...

@Ez- True. I secretly wished the Habs would score while they were interviewing J-J to see how quickly Pierre Houde would cut him off...

Unknown said...

@31: Also a huge Doctor fan. I think you should ask (plead with?) GG to 'shop some Cybermen/Daleks into the next header.

Are you watching the old stuff? Some of the new specials? I'm curious...

Unknown said...

Jeff Marek from CBC just tweeted that the cap is apparently going up 900k.

How it can?

iRiRi said...

Gionta and Gomez, best skaters according to Hamelin bros. Gill is worst.

Unknown said...

I remember someone here saying that Pronger "looked like a slow Hal Gill" during the Olympics. Still makes me laugh.

Rips it, scores! said...

@Number31 - I only really got into the show when it was revived in 2005 but I've been watching some of the old serials (mostly from Tom Baker onwards) when I get the spare time.

I'm currently reading through this webcomic, which is not a bad attempt at a story at all, IMO.

Anyway, 2-0 up against the Sabres after 2 periods & playing well. I've seen this film before.....

GoldenGirl11 said...

Watching Bouchard and Pommenville doing drills. Kills me to see that McD logo on an athelete's sweater.

Number31 said...

@ezzeloharr - I've watched it all, but the new one just started today. Waiting for the game to finish.

Does this game not look like the last game vs the Sabres? Hope the Habs don't fuck it up like the LAST TIME grrrr... (Although the Sabres haven't reached 40 shots yet like last time).

iRiRi said...

How do they only have 7 hits?

hfotwc said...

c'mon you fuckers, give us a 3rd goal

hfotwc said...

I don't remember what a 3rd period goal is like

Number31 said...

Will Lindy Ruff pull Miller for the extra man now or later?

Actually I think the Habs will hit the empty net this time.

iRiRi said...

Sergei!!

hfotwc said...

A THIRD FUCKING GOAL!!!!!!YOOOOOO SERGEI!!!

Number31 said...

Ask and ye shall receive Our 3rd line is awesome.

iRiRi said...

Cute: Marianne St-Gelais squealed as the goal happened while she was being interviewed...

orangeman said...

Wait, the Habs seem to be trying this period. Like they want to win or something. Or care. I'm....confused.

Number31 said...

Unfortunately our PP still blows. Oh well, at least they got 5-on-5 goals!

iRiRi said...

Hard to remember this PP used to be ranked no. 1...

oreangeman said...

Good thing they're up 3-0, cause this PP is pathetic.

wv: zoopol. The branch of interpol that polices zoos. Damn monkeys.

orangeman said...

Oh, Squid.

hfotwc said...

what a move Gio!!

hfotwc said...

Moen, the Saskatchewan plow truck...

kevincrumbs said...

Man, there's a chance I fight better than Max and that's really, really sad.

hfotwc said...

Yappie Lappy fights like a girlie

vw.gonest. Lappy not the gonest

iRiRi said...

Lapierre pointing out the score to the Buffalo bench:

Okay, I'll admit it, I laughed. *hides*

hfotwc said...

A real win. I'm excited again. Anger gone. Yeh!

GO FUCKIN HABS GO!!!!

orangeman said...

HA-LAK! *clap clap clap* HA-LAK! *clap clap clap*

Oh, Habbies. Emotional rollercoaster bastards.

Rips it, scores! said...

consecutive shutouts! Oh my giddy aunt!

Much better performance from Les Boys. Pity that the Rangers & the Bruins both won.

Number31 said...

Oh my giddy aunt is right. Much better than last night. Though why the fuck they couldn't have shut it down like that the last time these two teams played... Sigh...

Hey hey! Islanders next! Will Jaro go for 3 shutouts? He usually does shut them out. WOOOOO!

iRiRi said...

BGL on HNIC... this is what he's doing with his time?

mr. gillis said...

what the fuck just happened?

soperman said...

Why don't you guys give GG11 equal billing and call it Five Habs Fans? That may placate her demands for cash because, frankly, without her you are like Boone with cursing or soft-core porn in brail.

WV - gyrmate, i.e. gyrmate wants more credit.

A tribute to a feature past.

The Afternoon Skate for Sunday,
April 4

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of playing the National Champhionship
at home.

- Halak becomes the first Hab since George Vezina (or something) to record back-to-back shutouts. That's how you pretty much insure not getting booed at home.
- The Bruins beat the Leafs, but in overtime, which means Toronto stays within 14 points of Montreal.
- The Rangers also win to put the heat on Philly for 8th in the East.
- Sens lose which means 5th is still technically possible, but ask yourself, who would you rather play in the playoffs: Buffalo or Pittsburgh? Suddenly 6th doesn't look so bad now does it?
- There was hockey played west of Toronto.

Who doesn't not love
highlights after a win?

GoldenGirl11 said...

@The Gate
Well done. Hey 4, go back to bed.

Number31 said...

@The Gate
I'll be a nerd, though, and correct you that Huet was the last Habs goalie to record back-to-back shutouts.

I dunno, Jaro, if I were you, I don't know how comfy I'd be sharing records with both Racicot and Huet in two games...

But whatever. Game was awesome. Doctor Who was awesome. The weather is awesome. Awesome long weekend.

Hunter Bishop just scored his first goal. What a glorious day!
