The Franchise Saviour Era is Upon Us!

OK we've had 3 minutes to relax since the last post. We have no problem getting rid of HueT, the issue was getting virtually nothing for him. That's the "WTF" part for me.

Keep in mind that he's an RFA after this season and teams can see that the Habs have options lined up. A second rounder is decent. It's not great but if it's used in another trade then it becomes more valuable.

Then again, Belak only got a 5th so the market seems a bit out of whack ;)

I agree about the UFA part, so thats why I have no problem getting rid of him.

And youre right about Belak, so I dont know anymore!

Hopefully that second rounder can contribute to an even bigger trade?

You have to think Gainey has something else in the pipeline here, even if only for an experienced backup G.

So are we going to see Hossa and Lehtonen come to Montreal for Ryder and ???

A 2nd round draft pick?? Not even a charater player tacked on?? Bradley? Mike Green? Laich?

Yeah WTF sums it up.

Lehtonen? Why bother with him? We've got TFS & Halak now. Two good goaleurs.

The other thing is that the 2nd rounder is in '09, not '08.

I'd love to see Hedberg thrown into the Hossa package if it runs out to be true. He's proven he can play in the playoffs, knows his role as a backup, and is supposed to be great in the room. Can they really go into the playoffs with 2 rookie golaies?

Overheard random woman's cell phone conversation as I just walked to the bathroom:

"...pour un choix de deuxième ronde"

(two-second pause)

"oui, c'est tout"

I love this town.

Nobody seems to want to trade picks this year; they're much more valuable than they seem to have been in past years. The only first given up so far was in the Campbell deal (where San Jose kind of got fleeced; Campbell's okay but Bernier AND the first? Yikes).

How many Sabres games are left for the Habs this year? Looks like the Sabres are walking away for the season.

Lapointe to the Sens for a sixth, which is a steal. Would they bother adding players if they were getting Hossa? Are they adding depth because they're putting together a package for him? SUSPENSEFUL.

A steal is right msevigny.

Either the Sens are done or are stock piling assets to deal. I need a drink

Man, i`m at school, everyone is running, everyone tries to get a computer and check the trades, teachers, students comingle and discuss the trades. There are loud noises in the library right now, i can`t stand the tension. Now this begs the question: Should i skip class and finish watching the tracecenter, or should i go and check up every hour during my 10-minute break?

That Huet pick keeps getting worse. First it was a 2009 pick, now it turns out it's ANAHEIM's pick. Who do you think it picking higher in 2009, Washington or Anaheim?

Young HF29 said...

i know msevigny. but with Huet and now Fedorov, the Caps may be better! ;)

Come ooooon, trades aren`t coming fast enough! I want it to come faster! Faster! Faster! Harder! Harder! Oh! Oh yes! Oh come on baby! Give me Ho-Ssaaaaaa!

Current rumour: Grabovski, Lapierre, AND O'Byrne. For two months of Hossa before he flits off to some basement-dweller team that throws him an extra million a year. Also he had one assist in the playoffs last year.

Still time to hang up the phone, Bob.

I read that the 2nd round pick belonged to Anaheim. They couldn't even get Washington's pick for HueT, Plus Was got Fedorov for some schmoe (Theo/ted ruth? even tsn has no idea)I think George McPhee was giving out free mustache rids in florida ( I know he's not mike but whenever I here McPhee I think mustache )
