The Game Day Skate for Wednesday, Octoer 7th

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of winning your division after a one-game playoff...
  • Well the dream of a Habs undefeated season is dead thanks to a 4-3 loss to the Flames. By all accounts it was an entertaining game, and the Habs actually had 15 shots in the 3rd trying to tie it. We would tell you what we thought, but Videotron spent the entire night fucking with our internet and cable so we really didn't see much;
  • Well at least the Leafs lost, in part thanks to a Swede-on-Swede penalty shot;
  • Saku scores in the Ducks' 4-3(OT) loss to the Wild;
  • Flyers beat the Caps 6-5 in OT in a wild one, with Mike Richards getting a hat trick;
  • We can all hate on Milan Lucic for another 3 years at least.
Your game review will be a little later on today, as Panger has some real world stuff this morning but really wanted to give you his impressions from being at the game live. We'll have some sort of preview of the Canucks game sometime before the puck drops. That's at 10 PM EST, so we've got plenty of time.

I hate Nick Punto.

And that hellhole of a Metrodome should be killed with fire.

Stupid, stupid Twinkies. :(

So I had a long winded thing written on what I thought about the Habs so far this season and specifically last night, but my computer decided to spontaneously reboot. So in a nutshell:

Little Big Line good.
Squid - awesome in corners/vision superb.
Gomez much better.

Pleks good.
Tits not invisible, but still translucent.
Need legitimate winger for line.

3rd/4th lines OK.
Defence - meh, but no boneheaded giveaways (that I saw between naps).
Halak - Played well, maybe should have stopped one of the goals.

Oh yeah, re: Halak - one goal off a guy's ass and the winner deflected in by Gorges, so he gets no blame for the loss.

So happy for Saku that he scored. Happier though for Mr. and Mrs. Koivu as Miku scored too. That would've made for one long car ride home to Finland what with all the "you suck", "you are SUCH a cherrypicker", "try passing once in a while" comments in the back seat.

on the bright side, three games in, and no goalie controversy!

First off, I must complement all players for their extraordinarily gentlemanly play, as evidenced by the lack of penalties. Especially that very courteously brandished cross-check to Gomez's face, post-period end. So endearing.

It was a very high speed game and I bet Martin hated the run-and-gun quality of play. The less-skilled players (read: 4th line) trying to play within Martin's system against this Flames squad taking advantage of the last line change made them look worse than they really were. Halak didn't quite look like his usual desperate-to-compete self.

A better second period would've been nice but the Habs played even with a very talented and confident team with an excellent forecheck. The "Giant Mexican Squid" moniker must stay.

Also: good to see Gomez and Lats get their first goals of the season under their belts. Tonight is Squid's, Plek's, Spacek's and Hamr's turns. Laps, Gill and Mara too, hopefully, before the first home-game.

29: Are you not breaking some sort of FHF by-law by typing the phrase "Swede-on-Swede" without posting a pic of or link to some hot blonde girl on girl action?
Just watchin' your back. Don't want the other THF's to throw a fine at you.

@ L Dude
That's 2 games in a row now where the Flames have scored more than one with lucky bounces.

Ah well those lucky bounces will end in the first round of the playoffs as the Flames make yet another first round exit.

Scott: Uh, Plek already got his last night.

I wasn't expecting a perfect season. But however, the guys seem to be playing quite nicely. Sucks the Caps blew it to the fucking Flyers. Oh well, I hope we come prepared for the Ruins this season and get some revenge on them.

Anonymous: thx for correcting me. Then lets see Mara or Gill bag their firsts tonight. Or both!

...and what about that fucking early whistle?! Shoulda been 4-4!

Who said the Tits were invisible?

McGuire is a nut. Now he's telling Melnick that the Habs did something to the Leafs by beating them in overtime. They haven't been the same since. Can't the fucktard just admit the laffs suck?

On the one hand it would be hilarious to see the Leafs finish last and know that they would have had the first draft pick.

On the other hand that would meant the Bruins get the first pick.

Nice catch Moey. peeair will be painting burke's Blue Pride! toenails soon enough.

WV = cureer, as in peeair magwire's next cureer move is to be The BLUE PRIDE'S own brian burke's toenail painter. Bonus, burke let's peeair enjoy the toejam, for free.

@moeman,

I love the name "peeair". He's painted himself into a corner with all his leaf blowing and won't admit he's wrong, especially after comparing the leafs "big 4" to the Habs big 3 Dmen of the '70's.

moeman said...

@Moey. He ain't done and I expect him to backup bloviating burke beyond belief. Id've labelled him peewind but pissing in the air provides the same image; a piss-stained douchetard drenched in his own stinking urine.

Kate said...

@moeman,

Peeair should be the next resident in Panger's trunk. "With reference to a certain TSN leaf blowing commentator......
