It's the Super Bowl Weekend Mega-Post!

Given the wacky hockey schedule this weekend, plus some football game, plus the Puppy Bowl, the FHF plan to be pretty drunk all weekend. As a result, our posting schedule is undetermined as of this writing. Just to make sure you all have a chance to post game comments, SB predictions, and tragic stories of love lost, we're giving you this mega post. We're pretty sure you'll get some new content at some point over the weekend, but you never know.

So let's kick it off with a quick preview of Habs-Isles this afternoon:
  • 2 PM start at the Phone Booth, and it's on CBC. Woohoo for HF10!
  • Habs were 8-2-2 in January, and that includes 4-1-1 at home;
  • Isles sort of mediocre, 4-5-1 in their last 10, lost 3 straight, and sitting in 9th in the East;
  • Habs have already beat the Isles 4-1 and 3-1 this year;
  • Check out The View from Section 317. The top post is in French!
  • Gui! had 2G in the Caps loss (finally);
  • No one really hot for the Isles, no doubt due to the flu bug they've been suffering. Guerin and Comrie have combined for one point in the last 5 games;
  • Higgins must be happy January is over. I don't have the numbers, but I'm pretty sure he sucked;
  • Huet looks to get both starts this weekend. Really, today's game was a chance for Halak, dammit.

Alright it's noon, time to drink.

Boy, if things keep up, it's going to be Montreal vs. Rick DiPietro all game. Even DiP can only keep this up for so long, especially since I suspect Bruno Gervais might be a double agent.

Seriously, DiP is their only chance, but we gotta cash in on our chances dammit.

the Isles are flu-ridden. you can tell. we knew what that was like last year

anyone watching the CBC feed?

i was so pissed that they kept pronouncing his name as "hyoo-ette" and then i heard the explanation... did not know that

Young HF29 said...

bryan im watching CBC. but I heard that Huet name story last week. i mentioned it in TMS, and Panger started writing HueT

this is not going well now

whew

That was, simply put, one of the most amazing short-handed goals i've ever seen.

Gotta love the drop-pass-and-pick-on-the-defender play. And they say Kovalev's not an all-star anymore.

Young HF29 said...

msevigny i love that play too, but a pick in hockey should be interference. i'll take it tho

Young HF29 said...

Breezer! FUCK! why is he even playing? grrrrrrr

Anonymous said...

Hey, look who's back in the lineup! I hate you, Breezer.

Young HF29 said...

talk about sitting back with a two goal lead...

Now now, atleast he made a couple of good plays before that one. Sure he makes some mistakes, but i think i've finally figured out why. He's a player who sees things on the ice nobody else sees, has great vision, and always goes for the high-risk, high-reward plays. So when they work, they reap benefits, but you know, if they fuck up you got one unhappy crowd. So i guess you just have to take it or leave it, as he tends to break even at the end of the game.

Nice story on Lafontaine on the CBC. Nice to have Cherry tucked away for a change. My buddy Al says The Kelly Hrudey Motion Picture will star Val Kilmer. I have to agree, but not the Val from The Doors, he was a bit too stoned for that. Unless Kelly likes the occasional doob. Spliffy.

Whoever they cast, he'll have to be able to replicate the smouldering sexual tension between Kelly and Scott Russell during the late games in the early 2000s. That and ICE were the best reasons to watch Hockey Night In Canada.

Montreal's falling asleep here, they're going to give up a 3-2 goal for sure at this rate.

Wow! Can you believe it? Huet actually playing GREAT outside of the net! That was freaking awesome. Also, did anyone lese notice Dandenault always scores the game he comes back from being a healthy scratch?

Young HF29 said...

alright well that 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off crap won't get it done against Ottawa, but for now, i'll take the 2 points

Dave said...

29, are you watching the Ashes in Bangladesh or the hockey game we're all commenting on? Just curious.

Nice move by Huet at the end. And let's make Breezer a healthy scratch tomorrow, yes?

Young HF29 said...

33, we score a goal, then we do nothing. we sit back and watch. it's gonna bite us in the ass

Young HF29 said...

btw 33, bonus +1 for the first cricket reference in FHF history (I think)

The Ashes are indeed a cricket reference... Traditionally, it's a test match between England and Australia. Not sure what Bangladesh has to do with it.

man we could gain some ground on ottawa tonight... never thought i'd say this but go leafs go !

Young HF29 said...

Bryan I agree. Leafs up 1-0. Woohoo!!

Ha, it seems like you guys have a nice weekend in store!

Superbowl predictions: Giants over Pats, 36-24. I dont actually know enough about football to know if those numbers make any sense, but I do know that Bill Belichick is a cheater.

With the Ottawa loss, the deficit will be only one measly point if Montreal wins today.

You might have to stop talking about how much they suck for a little while if they can overtake the Senators!

I hope the Giants win. I'm so sick of hearing about Tom Brady that I'm tempted to break his ankle myself - I feel like a non-Catholic trying to avoid Christmas.
